HDR Problems [PC]

Only had Forza 7 (version: 1.109.9571.2) a couple of days, HDR seemed to be working ok but have been having problems since latest windows fall update (Windows 10 Pro 1709) and updating nvidia drivers (388.13).

Problem:

  • Graphics card (1070 GTX) set to output 3840 x 2160, 10 bit, YCbCr422 via HDMI 2
  • Turned on windows “HDR and advanced colour mode” (desktop looks washed out)
  • TV shows as receiving HDR signal (Samsung ue40mu6400)
  • Start Game, seems ok and colors and brightness look correct
  • Start playing game and the graphics will randomly switch to a posterized green / purple look (see attached)
  • Hitting windows key temporarily fixes but soon reverts back to posterized

Seemed to be working fine before updates. Have double checked cables etc and closed all other apps but no joy. Non HDR version seems to be running fine in 8 bit RGB.

Quick update on this.

Have been doing some more testing and seems to be related to my dual display setup:

  • Main display: Samsung ue40mu6400 4k HDR TV, (10 bit, YCbCr422 via HDMI 2)
  • Second display Dell 24" 1600 x 1050, portrait orientation (presumably running RGB:Full, displayport->dvi)

If I unplug the 2nd screen and reboot I seem to be able to run the game in HDR without problems, still need more time to test… Could the combination of YCbCr422 & second RGB:Full display be confusing the game output?
