I can’t seem to find anywhere any sort of multiplayer racing lobby. Do you have to go on Road Trip or select an event in free-roam to do multiplayer racing?!
In Road Trip you have to commit to one car for possibly completely different types of events, and in Free-Roam you have no idea at all what track someone has selected before you choose your car. In either case, you are going in blind as to what track you will be racing, and cannot possibly pick your car accordingly.
I might choose a drag-race type car for a circuit race, or someone might choose a track car for a drag-race. Either way, it’s based on pure chance whether we pick the right car or not. Not to mention that the person setting up the event has the distinct advantage of being the only person to know what track will be raced.
It seems insane to me that no online racing lobby exists in a Forza game. Is this going to be added at a later date? I’m struggling to see why there’s no way to just race, unless there is and I’m just missing it.
Yes it’s Horizon, but the first Horizon had multiple types of racing lobbies AND public custom lobbies, so they have already been established as part of the Horizon series. Horizon 2 has neither, and on top of that, it is also more sim-like than Horizon 1, as it now has tuning and mechanical damage + tyre wear.
There’s no reason not to have a proper racing lobby. What possible harm could be caused by adding them? It would offer a stronger multiplayer component with wider appeal. Those who don’t wish to take part in them can easily ignore them and remain completely unaffected by their inclusion.
The only possible (however unlikely) detriment that could be caused by their inclusion, is that people might see Horizon 2 as more of a sim game and possibly turn away sales from more ‘casual’ racing fans. If this is the case, they could simply not promote them and have them hidden in one of the menus.
In my opinion, Horizon 2 is near perfect and has built on almost every aspect that made Horizon 1 so great. The omission of racing lobbies is my one and only complaint.
Surely you wouldn’t be opposed to their inclusion in a patch if that possibility arose?
