Seriously? I can’t use my fanatec handbrake? Who thinks this is a good idea? Why does the handbrake have to be mapped to a wheel button? It’s pretty much impossible to hit a button consistently on the wheel while drifting since the wheel is moving so much. Has there been any word on if this is going to be fixed?
My Fanatec handbrake works fine.
Are you using a fanatec wheel? I’m using a Thrustmaster so the handbrake is connected independently. This isn’t an issue on fm7, I’m just wondering why they changed it this time around.
They didn’t change anything this time around. These are two different development teams that while they share data and resources, the games are made independently. So this will happen quite a bit. Also agree that it’s a bit ridiculous however.
Since I’m kind of lazy and drive manual paddle shift only I have mapped the e-brake to my clutch pedal which works perfectly as an analog input… Maybe that’ll be workable for you at least on drift events
I have the Fanatec handbrake and tested it working connecting via both the Clubsport V3 pedals and with the USB adapter. Can confirm it works fine ingame
Yeah anything that is chained into one USB port works. it’s a multiple USB device issue
My pedals and steering wheel work while my shifter does not.,
FYI Forza Horizon 4 supports multiple USB inputs (this was the limitation on FH3 due to the UWP being relatively new at the time)
I have the following connected via USB which are ALL recognised in Windows 10 and found by the game:
Fanatec V2.5 Base Connected via USB
Fanatec Handbrake via Fanatec USB Adapter
Fanatec Clubsport Pedals via USB (better as they have 10bit connection)
DSD Sequential Shifter via USB
DSD P1 and P2 Button Boxes via Powered USB Hub
Fanatec Shifter is connected to Clubsport pedals therefore doesn’t need a seperate connection
Thats a total of 6 USB devices that the game recognises and will accept inputs and keybinds from.
If you are having issues with your devices not being found in game, it is NOT a multiple device issue, perhaps check your hardware for drivers or firmware updates. Hope this may help some of you narrow down the cause of your issues as its not the usual USB problems we had to deal with back with previous UWP games.
Anyone running Fanatec Handbrakes or USB adapter can always PM me for help on current firmware to be using or updates. ![]()
Thing is, it let’s me map it in the menu but when I back out to the game it doesn’t work. I go back into mapping and it says undefined and has an exclamation point by it that says something to the effect of wheel mapping required. In fm7 it just worked. I don’t know why it’s not working.
HI! I have the same issue like you…
I don’t have fanatec handbrake but usb handbrake from ebay ( like fanatec) and its work fine on assetto corsa, dirt rally, the crew… But forza recognize the handbrake mapping on setting menu but when I back to drive its again undefined and handbrake return to whell buttons… I use logitech g29.
Any solution?
Ps: sorry bad English I’m not.
I am on PC.
I cannot get handbrake to work either. Mine is connected to the CSW 2.5 base.
Just had a thought. If you use paddle shift, switch your shifter to sequential and map the down pull to e-brake.
Actually, there is no Fanatec preset for the Xbox hub wheel. Only option is CSW wheel. It works but it list buttons as numbers and not as xbox buttons. So it is really confusing and defeats the purpose of getting the xbox hub.
I have the same issue on PC. What’s even weirder is that it works just fine for other commands (ie: look left and right), but refuses to stay mapped to handbrake. Makes no sense.
Double post.
Same issue; Thrustmaster TS-XW, TH8A shifter anything I setup for handbrake saves and then is blank when you back in, saying it has to be mapped to a wheel button. For one a wheel button is on/off, a handbrake should be analog. I can’t imagine the theory of any brake being an on/off switch for two, as someone already mentioned, while drifting its impossible to keep track of that little, useless on/off button. This is a major issue for a game that has so much drifting skill events. This seems like it should be a simple fix,… allow the mapped device to stay and remove the wheel button requirement. I’m using an Arduino Micro pro mapped for a single analog axis potentiometer directly to USB, the game see’s device 3 axis 1 an even saves the mapping, but it doesnt work in game and the mapping is wiped when you check it. Very lame.
This is an issue with how the game is writing the custom config file, it mostly effects secondary USB device but it’s not limited to that. Basically the mapping is saved correctly but the device VID PID is recorded incorrectly, so even though the mapping value key itself is correct the game is not recognising it because the device it’s trying to listen to doesn’t exist.
You can manually fix it by finding and editing the config file and correcting the device VID PID value.
Do you happen to know the name or location of the config file
That tutorial for the wheel and pedals worked for me for the handbrake. To easily find the files they’re talking about, search “wgs” in your computer or C drive. Hope it works for you too! Completely changed the game for me, having a working handbrake is so necessary for drifting.
