Gouging, Rinsing and other DLC issues!

I’m not sure if this has been definatively resolved yet, but let me be clear! If FM6 does NOT have ALL tracks AND ALL tracks from the franchise so far, AT LAUNCH, ON LAUNCH COPY GAME…there will be no more Forza Motorsport!

T10 took a pounding at launch of FM5 for it’s blatant gouging of Forza fans, by releasing a game that was UNFINISHED. No Porsche franchise! HALF the cars (that’s being generous!) Half the tracks! (ridiclously generous!) On top of this, they had the gall to insist on issuing, and charging for, DLC that consisted of cars that should have been released at launch. Cars that were already available on the previous version on Forza Motorsport. This time they WON’T get away with it! Look how many cars AND tracks Project Cars are offering!..Astounding!

Respectfully, as a Forza fan myself, I have to state that unless FM6 is the DEFINATIVE Forza Motorsport, at launch, then there will be no Forza Motorsport 7! The credibility of TURN10 is at stake. It has taken only a few short years to alienate so many people from racing sims on the XBox platform. Only TURN10 could do it! …They had no competition! Gran Turismo, as a Sony product, was always an also-ran, since FM2. Project Cars will reduce the TURN10 fanbase even further, UNLESS they heed my warnings. Any further DLC MUST be ORIGINAL CONTENT! NEW tracks! …NEW cars!.. More regional content, and less U.S. 'centric arcade influenced content. If a car is produced in the UK for the UK market, it should be RHD …ESPECIALLY the classics! How would an american feel driving a RHD Vette? or a RHD Mopar?

I have tried to contact T10 on several occasions and received no acknowledgement whatsoever.

I bought my first 360 console after seeing a video review of FM2 and still play FM3 and 4 regularly, It saddens me to see any outstanding IP dumbing down and prostituting themselves to get more sales. This is T10’s last chance for me.

PS
What has happened to FM3 servers and online functionality? The public lobbies and other functions have disappeared in the last few days!!

OH! …before the Mods get a little over-zealous, this is nothing to do with wishlisting! …This is a discussion about the overall format and marketing of the Forza Motorsport IP.

Which you have no decision over.

Respect and acceptance? I see.

Please refrain from posting purely to create arguments. You can use the wish lists to voice your opinion.

Tell me: since you seem to see the future so well, will my Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team win the Stanley Cup next year? Or will we be living on Mars within 5 years?

The tracks and car counts were due to the fact that they all had to be redone individually. As annoying as the low count is, can you look at a car in Forzavista and not think, “Wow, this is beautifully rendered?” Do the tracks not look spectacular? All of that takes time and lots of money.

As for the Porshe issue - that is not Turn10’s fault. EA holds the rights exclusively, and negotiating a deal takes, you guessed it, time and money.

My point is, only Turn10 knows what the future holds. The Forza community plays a big part in the success of the games and the franchise. I firmly believe that as long as there are devices capable of playing video games on, and the community continues to buy the games, Forza will continue. Look at Call of Duty: they have an established product that people occasionaly bash them for, yet they still make games and probably will for at least a handful of new titles.

Cheers,
Ace

Firstly, YES, FM5 is rendered very well, but my point is, this is irrelevant when racing, as all your concentration is on the next apex, NOT on how well the tailpipe is rendered on the car in front. ForzaVista is a nice bolt-on, but when you’ve seen it once or twice, where’s the thrill?

Secondly, if you have a franchise with licenses pending, get your ass in gear and make sure they are all up-to-date BEFORE you start. If you have the franchise for FM4 and not FM5, then keep supporting FM4 until you do! It’s not rocket science! T10’s abandonment of FM3 AND 4 did, and still does, cause much rancour amongst long term franchise fans.

Yes! TURN10 are the ONLY people who know what’s going on. Project Cars is community created. Maybe if T10 turned to it’s fans with a bit more respect and acceptance that they know their stuff, then maybe the fans would have fewer gripes, the game would satisfy more people, and T10 would be a better T10?

As for future titles? …The Horizon IP will always appeal to the “Need For Speed” crash monkeys. T10 made it’s name from producing a top notch RACING SIM. This is where they must now focus to survive.

Huh… I grew up playing NFS and I enjoyed Horizon so I guess that makes me one of those “crash monkeys,” oh superior one.

It’s a ‘car game,’ which means it welcomes people that like to photograph cars just as much as those who like to race/drag/drift them. Go play iRacing if you want a racing sim.

First point? …YES!

Second point? …Until Project Cars comes out, this is the nearest thing to a Sim on console. XBox was my choice of console, based on the reviews of FM2. I’m not interested in PC gaming.

Ah, yet another elitist who thinks people who play NFS or Horizon are inferior gamers… I’d probably take that personally if it wasn’t such a funny joke.

Forza is, again, a car game. They’ve shifted their focus to appeal to all groups instead of just one. I’d say they’re doing a great job of that, and I don’t miss them trying to pretend they were a racing simulator when they never were.

Just because you picked the wrong platform to play racing sims on doesn’t mean a developer has to change their game to revolve around your wants. If I bought a Wii U then complained that Mario Kart wasn’t enough of a sim, do you really think Nintendo should make the game more of a simulator just for me? Or should I have just gotten a system more suited to my needs?

While it’s sad to see smaller car and track counts, and the decreased amount of content compared to FM4 has arguably made FM5 a worse game, I seriously doubt that not meeting your standards will cause the end of the Forza franchise.

Though I maintain that the “all assets were recreated” excuse simply holds no water. Whatever the reason, they’re slowly adding things back in- eventually, we’ll have a bunch of cars and tracks again.

Gran Turismo is not an also-ran, and sales numbers will tell you that. GT outsells FM by a vast margin.

Project CARS offers a completely different experience from Forza Motorsport and is by no means going to steal a notable amount of the FM community.

Turn 10 won’t change their practices for you, or me. They’ll change them when the market tells them they’re doing something wrong, and by their own standards, they’re doing just fine.
