Give driver's a clue?

I think for the next forza release turn10 need to incorporate some kind of signal to drivers who are about to be lapped,so that they know who is coming up behind them.Granted a lot of back markers are wreckers who cant drive to the required standard and then get left behind,so they take out their frustrations on the first car they see,but every one else could do with knowing if they are racing for position with the car that’s closing on them or if they should try and move aside,i mean how are people meant to know?

Not a bad idea to be flagged (blue flag ) So you know. Most really racing would know though. Maybe have a coding rule that gives you a time out if collision happens while under blue flag (a new stat that could be used to exclude you from certain MP hoppers)

I agree that a flag or color to indicate the lap. Lead lap green, down a lap red, stalled or slow moving flashing yellow, are just some thoughts.
I have always used the microphone to let players know what I’m doing. " ****** I’m going to come by on your left/right" or " hey *****, I see you coming up and I’ll take the outside/inside line". In FM4, there seemed to be much better communication. I think if we could get a more functional in race chat, and more people actually used their chat capability, it would be fine.
It would be nice to hear "we have a griefer hanging out at turn 4, watch yourself in that area.
I know it’s a fantasy to think we will ever eliminate the griefers completely, but anything we can do, as a community, to make them as irrelevant as possible, would help.
We have some smart folks in the Forza Community. I like to believe the game developers actually do read these forums and consider the merits of good suggestions. And occasionally they might even implement them.

Peace

Good signal to crashers sadly.

Having done more P-Class racing recently I am starting to lap a lot of players and in almost every scenario there are issues. They’ll either “race for position” or be unaware of your presence.

A flag system or some form of indicator would be nice, but Turn 10 doesn’t seem to want to add more motorsport-related features to its Multiplayer setup at the moment. Casual players don’t care about flags/rules anyway.

Crashers will hit you regardless of there being a signal.

The solution is this, if you are 3,000 ft behind someone then you are a ghost to that person. This would help in several ways. If you are being lapped by a faster driver you cannot wreck him. If you are racing clean and you are trying to catch up, you can be lapped without affecting your lap time or the lappers lap time. If you have repaired your car and are trying to catch back up with the rest of the field, you can unlap yourself without affecting the race for the lead.

The reason I say 3,000 feet is to allow for the shorter tracks, I’m not sure how short the shortest track is. This removes the need for flags, it will bore wreckers because they can’t wreck, it will allow fast drivers with repaired cars a chance to catch up with the pack of lapped and it will promote patient driving if you know every lap you make won’t be ruined by awaiting wreckers.

I’m sure there’s a way to code something like this in.

No problem Turn 10, I take cheques, cash, bank transfer, chocolate or unicorns. Thanks in advance for your thank you payment.

Actually, what would be cool is a kind of car-to-car collision warning feature that will alert drivers who is on their left or right impeding sudden right or left turns, especially around corners as this is the cause of most crashes I see in online multiplayer since most drivers do not look to their right or left before executing turn-ins or track-outs.

I don’t want to see this happen. Multi class racing will absolutely suck, and it totally defeats the point of racing in non ghost leagues

I doubt anything will be done as it will almost certainly call for a rating of some sort that “casual” players will complain about.

We will be relegated to having good races privately. Meeting some new friends who are clean during competitions of that we join inspire of the poor race craft and wreckers as this is the Only time I race the non ghost leagues anymore

Just ghost back markers and move on.

We could all just be ghosted and do away with collision lobbies all together.

There nothing to complain about – except those that call that not racing (I’m not one of them, I like going into ghost leagues-- but I don’t think we need to have hybrid)

Anybody getting lapped either has no intend on racing or just can’t drive. Either way they shouldnt effect the race. All though I prefer ghost racing with randoms myself, but all lapped traffic should be ghosted. Regardless of the contract type. I can see maybe some of the sim endurance racing.

So…why did my thread get tossed into the features wishlist abyss and this didnt?

maybe because the mods havent got around to doing it yet, they arent always around, there’s another wishlist thread that hasnt been tossed either but I’'m sure it will

Scot Joseph, your new thread could have went here:

http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst53912_Something-needs-to-be-done-about-Wreckers-in-Leagues.aspx

With out the suggesting cursing in the post it would have survive and you would have found out quite a few people agree with you though most suggest 30sec

Same for this one. At least this one started off with semi fresh idea. Back to let’s all race as ghosts.

Excuse me now we just want back markers to be ghost.

maybe because it didn’t start with cursing and go on to a rant blaming others?

that isn’t the thread I’m speaking of. my other thread was tossed into the features wishlist thread without any discussion after 30 mins. and no there was no profanity in that one mr. Hall monitor.

nevermind

Ghosting the cars that are X feet behind would be somewhat useless because by the time they are x feet behind they would’ve already done their damage. This would mostly affect those that were affected by the opening crash and now they’d just be ghosts for the entire race. Like I said in another thread that was unfortunately locked and renamed, the solution to 95% of our ills is to ghost the cars for the first 30-45 seconds, this would give the field time to sort itself out and put the wreckers where they belong, at the back of the pack. Then there can be some kind of “Time off track” counter to kick players who spend more than x amount of time off the track.

I like the idea of ghosting those who are at the back if you’re about to lap them. Last night racing in the Super Trofeo I was tagged by 18th and 17th when coming to lap them which put me out of contention for 3rd and then 4th. It was hugely frustrating and not having to worry about this happening with ghosted back markers would help I think. There’s not a perfect solution but at least it would remove this sort of scenario.
