When using the rewind feature it slowly removes the time you’ve gained since the last two updates, i noticed this last night when i was pressed for time, and decided rather than sweat out a couple more laps to fix a minor mistake i made on the previous lap, that i would just rewind to an earlier part on the straight be able to prep for the start of the braking zone.
At the previous interval on a straight i was 2.6 up on my previous lap, by the time i got the next checkpoint about a second or two from the braking zone it said i had lost 3 and abit tenths.
I did it multiple times thinking it was just me being an idiot lol, but everytime i tried it i lost 3 tenths in the process.
This was in freeplay at spa, I also did it again at mugello and had the same results there. So far from what i can see, there is nothing stopping this from happening on every circuit. It happens no matter what you do or what car you drive.
This sounds like a bug to me, but it’s better than people exploiting the rewind function for better lap time. I mean it’s not unrealistic to mess up the last sector and having to drive an entire lap to try again. Could definitely be an intentional feature.
It seems to me that clean laps are only compared to clean laps, and when you rewind it will be marked as “dirty” and starts being compared to “dirty” laps.
For example:
Your previous best clean lap was 1:30.500, and your previous best lap overall was 1:30.000 (which was a “dirty” lap)
You might get 1:30.200 in your new clean lap, which is -0.300 compared to your previous best clean lap.
But when you rewind the new lap will be marked as “dirty” and now it will also be compared to the “dirty” laps and you will get +0.200.
If that’s what you’re referring to, it sounds like this is an intended feature and I personally don’t see anything wrong with it.
This is a bug which should be fixed (or if it is a “feature” removed).
As the OP correctly describes, when you use rewind in rivals you lose some time since the last update. Essentially, you can cross the line level with the ghost you are racing and it will show as a slower time.
Using rewinds is a helpful way to be able to see what the car is capable of, giving you a target to aim for with a clean lap. It is very unhelpful for it to be inaccurate nor is there any need for it to be as rewind laps are marked as dirty anyway.
This is less annoying than only being able to see top 50 times in rivals but is still an irritating issue which should not be present.
@T10ManteoMax I see this remains in “new issues” rather than known issues. Do you need examples of this? Appreciate It’s only of interest to those of us who do rivals but it is a fairly ridiculous situation that the lap timer no longer appears correct when a rewind is used. This must be an easy fix as it appears it was introduced in the July update and worked fine before.
When you rewind in Free Play or Rivals, it sets the timer back around 0.2-0.25 seconds every time you rewind. This means that the split will say you are down by .2 seconds but you are beating the ghost on track that you are chasing.
This makes it so hard to hot lap or test for the best lap possible as every time you rewind, it messes with the sector split times.
This is also an issue in single player series as it uses practice time to estimate where you could finish which will be wrong if the time used is 0.25 seconds slower than what you actually did.
I understand that this is a minor issue but it’s irritating when you are trying to check how quick a car might be in rivals when a rewind means that the time is no longer accurate. There’s absolutely no reason for this and it worked fine for the first several months. Surely this is a fix that requires minimal work?
@General_Pretzel@JetPartySalad@T10ManteoMax Could you guys please finally do something about it? This bug is plaquing the game for HALF a year now and it’s ruining the experience for competitive players trying to push the limits.
