I plug in my controller, its on and all but it doesnt work. I installed drivers and tried to reconfigure the controller bindings but it still did not work. How did you guys get your controller to work?
I just plugged my 360 compatible controller in. If you have an Xbox One controller I think you may need to get Xbox Accessories from Store to get it working. If it’s not an Xbox controller it’s probably useful to know what type you have to see how it may be possible to get it working.
I don’t know if this will work for you as you haven’t mentioned what controller you’re using, but for me I’ve noticed that Forza Apex only recognises a controller if I plug it in before launching the game. If I plug it in after launching the game, my PC recognises it but Forza doesn’t. However, if I then unplug it I get a screen in Forza saying that I need to reconnect the controller, which goes away when I plug it in again but the game still won’t recognise any button presses. So plug it in and get it set up before launching Forza and see if that helps anything.

It is a generic controller so that probably is the case
Probably. Some controllers have a switch to select Xinput and the older Direct Input, but if not you can use tools like X360CE to emulate an Xbox-controller.
There is no .exe file for forza though, so I cant use 360ce
