Even at 4k MSAA 8x looks sharp and jagged.
TAA is more performance efficient and looks miles better.
MSAA is outdated.
Agree, so?. People dont care about quality in games anymore, they have been proving it buying videogames non stop for this past decade lol. Either people are just used to terrible graphics in games, or they just dont care. And no, you cant add TAA right now in the game. Its too late for that. FH5 is never going to be an AAA game as long as it keeps using arcaic methods of antialiasing, with a terrible shadow casting system, terrible lighting… etc. But again, stop complalining about graphic problems in games. Since people are not willing to try to improve videogaming industry, they better get used to it and move on.
TAA is more performance efficient but looking better is subjective. It can also look better or worse depending on the game, but usually looks worse in games that have rapid movement.
The only objective reason to add TAA is to eventually add DLSS, which again can struggle with rapid movement. Implementation would be tough and honestly, PGG have WAY more important issues to deal with right now, like the memory leaks and frequent crashing.
TAA would produce utterly hideous ghosting, so no thanks.
TAA is literally the worst AA ever made. It turns images to a blurry mess. FXAA is also very efficient and yet doesnt turn images to blurry mess.
No, it doesnt. EVERY SINGLE AAA game these days include TAA for a reason. Ive played plenty of games with TAA and i never found that ghost effect or that blurry mess you talking about. Its all about how that TAA is implemented by the game engine. And if the blurriness bothers you so much (cant believe people prefer to play with awful shimmering all over the place and terrible aliasing…) there are other methods to sharpen the image.
And of course FXAA is a mess, because for starters it isnt an antialiasing method. It is just a postprocess effect. And its useless since ages ago, like MSAA through the game engine.
Today, the only way to get decent antialiasing and reduced shimmering is trough TAA or INFUSED Msaa through the drivers emselves (using for example NCP or inspector). Something that you cant do in FH5, of course.
And again, FH5 isnt so bad. But there are games where is basically IMPOSSIBLE to play due to the extreme aliasing and shimmering all over the place. Take a look, for example to euro truck simulator. That game is disgusting, and at this point is a complete mess talking about bad aliasing and shimmering, and its only playable through nvidia inspector. But people still play it, a lot. Because they dont care about quality, at all. And they are used to it. They prove it supporting the company year after year. Plain and simple. And this is how gamers these days think. People like me who lived the golden age of antialiasing we can really see the difference and we are probably the only ones that actually care about quality.
Seriously, i laugh so much when people keep saying that TAA is the worst because of the blurriness… not only you almost dont notice the bluriness (specially if you use other sharpening methods like NCP) but even if you did, thats way better than playing with awful aliasing and shimmering all over the place, specially in a racing game. And again, no. Ghosting is a myth, and ive never EVER seen it in a videogame. Probably because the games i played were actual good games with decent game engines.
Not sure if TAA is the answer here, but I agree, the game definitely needs better anty-aliasing (at least for Forza Vista).
