I believe I am not the only one struggling.
When you play with a controller and you hit the wall or go off the street your car acts normally. It goes to the straight line very quick.
With steering wheel (G920) it is different. If you hit the wall or get derouted your car acts like crazy (sliding side to side, trying to get to the straight line) and your battle is lost.
Is it a bug or wrong setting?
Pretty much my experience as well hence I’m back on my game controller. Supposedly steering wheel support was improved for Horizon 5 but for me it’s just as bad as Horizon 4.
Just driving / cruising around I find my G920 is great but as soon as you want to race and you start sliding out / drifting the wheel seems to get confused and I often can’t correct it as I would with a controller.
Controller has helpers for countersteer and other stuff…
On wheel u have to limit steeringangle 900° is too much something between 200-360 is better but depends on the cars and tracks
If u are playing on xbox there is no slider for angle fiddle around with deadzones but you have no lock
Unless someone tells us we do something wrong, I dare to say that races are unplayable. One mistake ans you are going bye bye.
Really wheel acts very confused. Cant keep up with the track. Turning left and right very fast.
Seriously, anyone plays races with g920?
All I have is the G920 or keyboard and the keyboard is useless IMO. I managed to tweak the settings so road races are controllable with the wheel, but dirt and drifting is another story. I have to go to inside view for dirt if the AI is above average…it handles a lot better but depending on the course you can’t see where the next turn is till your on it. Also, there are some cars that are a lot darker when using inside view at night, so I use the hood view on them. I use 270/360 in Ghub which helps a lot on street or dirt but drifting I have to set it for 180 and change a few other settings. Even then it’s tricky to get it to drift like I see others do.
Steering with wheel is better in fh5 than fh4 and i think its pretty good tbh. You just have to accept that controller users have extra help at times. Harder when you hit things? good ,it should be.
2 of the fastest drivers in the game are using wheels,so they can’t be that bad.
Maybe it is a matter of perfect settings?
I believe best drivers dont hit walls. I was wondering. It is not fair comparing with controller drivers. I tried million different advanced settings, none of them help. So is that supposed be that way? When you lose grip yor battle is over?
You can certainly improve things in the settings, lowering the vibration settings a lot helps a great deal imho, esp off road. It’s useless info that overpowers the useful info you need to be able to feel like grip and wheelspin. Lowering the turning circle helps too,but thats down to personal preferance, and how you do it depends what gaming system you are running on, xbox settings are a bit confusing
Unfortunately xbox.
But you are missing the point. I am not complaining on uncomfortalbe drive or unnatural drivingfeel. I am moaning about wheel getting crazy once a wall is hit or you go off road Again, it suddenly spins left right trying to straighten your path. I agree it is really enjoyable doing freeroam or any camera / jump activities. But when you start a race you need to be extra cautious. This doesnt apply to controller drivers. There, you still have some chances.
One of the advance settings tones down the recentering of the wheel. I “think” it’s the “Force Feedback Minimum Force” or “Force Feedback Scale”, try adjusting it down and see if that works.
I use a G920 and think FH5 is pretty decent on this wheel. A wheel is harder then a controller in any racing game but can be more rewarding once you get it right. One thing I suggest, if you haven’t done it already; is to set the wheel rotation to 360 degrees. Racing games tend not to work to well with 900 degrees. Other then that, I use stock settings and don’t have any issues.
If you find the wheel “going crazy” or tugging when you hit something, you can turn down the force feedback to minimize this but it will also make it harder for you to feel when the back end starts getting loose around turns.
I love the wheelhandling and FFB in FH5 (PC). It works perfect with my thrustmaster. My rotiation is set to 360degree, cam is cockpit. I would complain if they change the ingame wheelbehavior.
Maybe 360degs is the way to go. I will try that. Thanks
Btw how do you change angle on xbox. Therse is no ghub, right?
I don’t think you can change the degree on Xbox. If I recall correctly, it was a complaint that it wasn’t added in the advance settings. You could try adjusting up the “Steering Sensitivity” which may help.
with thrustmaster you can change rotation without any driver or software with the mode-button on wheel, afaik fanatec has also a buttoncombination to make maxrotationchanges on the fly.
here is a video for g25/27 and older logiwheels, don’t know if it works with g920, just try
Ok. No , it cant be changed on xbox. Can anyone who is happy with the wheel setting (g920) paste their advanced settings, please. Maybe others benefit too
Settings from video are good but they still dont protect you from crazy wheel spinning. I did few races against drivatars from the weekly festival list. Managed to win them all, with 10th attempt for some. If the drivarars hit you or push you off the road, the play is over. Heavier the car easier it is to control it.
With the controler… . won each race with first attempt. You ALWAYS have a chance to go back on track.
