find it funny that if points drifters come to the forums they get bullied by the tandem drifters
we get hate on by the random drifters and we also get banned
but yet the forums is for drifters and thats ALL OF THE DRIFTERS but yet the point drifters get bulled out and banned don’t seam faire to me
should just title it Tandem Drifters
seaming they bully any one that drifts AWD FWD or for POINTS
I’ve banned one person today for trolling. It didn’t matter what viewpoint he was espousing, he was trolling and got banned for it. If you see what you believe to be inappropriate behaviour from another member on the forums, report it and it will be looked at and action taken if necessary.
What will absolutely not help your cause is posts such as this one.
i agree Hieronymus1967 the drift forums are for every drifter no matter what you drift or how you drift
it just annoys me that people have to go hating on people post just because they don’t do that type of drifting
if you don’t do points don’t post on points and if you don’t random don’t post on tandem
i just think people do it to troll and to get there jolly off
[Mod Edit - Hieronymus (Personal attack removed)]
You just dodged a hammer. Consider it your one and only warning.
I am a “Points Drifter” But only by design. I honestly don’t care about points, unless I am in a Rival’s Challenge or if a challenge has been declared in a random lobby. However, points are the only automated scoring system in the game.
I care more for aggressive drifting. If you can keep up with me, i’ll happily tandem with you, it isn’t very likely though. I do give tandem drifters a lot of credit. It takes a lot of patience and concentration to stay on someone’s door, turn for turn. That is skill without a doubt. I find myself at a disadvantage though, as I drift in Bumper Cam (First Person Prospective, no visible parts of the car, interior or exterior)
I personally concern myself with getting through the course as fast, and as clean as possible, all while staying sideways. I keep my cars below 600hp and over 2400lbs. I don’t like my cars to be too unrealistic or too purpose built. I like them to be something you could see driving down the highway on a Sunday, not just at the track.
My favorite part of a random lobby is finding the 1 or 2 drifters who are fast and playing keep up. Fortunately, when it comes to points, Speed contributes to your score.
You. I like you.
OP when troll/bait post are made by said people what do you expect.
Also, the whole reason there even is a Drift Lounge is because of tandem drifters. We pushed for drifting in FM1 and FM2 and in FM3 it was finally recognized and made accessible to the casual public. Even throughout FM3 almost all people posting in here were competitive/tandem drifters. Only about 1/2 through FM4 and especially in FM5 did that community die out, for multiple reasons.
With that established, I can now make this point. The majority of posts I see are “tandem drifters are x and points drifters are y”. Whether it be “POINTS TAKES MORE SKILL” or “POINTS MATTER MORE THAN TANDEMS” or “ITS JUST GOING IN A CIRCLE LOL BORING”, that’s the majority of things I see here.
Also, especially back in the day, 95% of people trolling in forums, or just generally saying the most ridiculous filth, were points drifters. I understand now that’s changed, or at least changing, but you have to be aware of the connotation your sub-community. Usually angry, over-excited kids who are looking to pick fights against other “drift krews” in their 1000hp race tire S15s.
Imo it’s not bullying, at least it wasn’t. We’re trying to defend what little of the community we built is left. Yes, it’s up to us to share it with you points drifters, especially since it’s so hard to make friends now. I get that. But when the majority of you guys wheel in here spewing insults at other guys, making pointless threads (this thread isn’t pointless, fyi), not reading the rules of not just the website but the dl (aka making team threads outside of the team subforum, looking for battles etc. outside of the battle lounge), can you really blame us Grandfather clocks for being a little uppity?
Is it wrong to stereotype? Yes. Is the stereotype correct 75% of the time? Unfortunately.
If you have a problem with the way your subset is viewed, lead the way to change it.
TL;DR It’s not what you drift, it’s how you act. It just so happens a lot of people who drift AWD, 1000+hp race tires, or for points, suck as people.
Great example. I saw this on a locked thread in the front page.

Naming and Shaming is a general no-no and has been for a long time. It’s not just a points drifter thing, tandem drifters would call each other out all the time, saying OH HE USES POSITIVE CAMBER or HE’S TALKING SMACK.
And guess what? They got banned too.
I feel like I should comment since my comment has been quoted. I\m not sure if you are pointing me out as a person causing the problem or a person who finally spoke out about the mess this has become.
I just want to be clear.
1st., go back through my history of posts and you will find that I have always made a point not to say anything bad against anybody’s style of drifting. I have on numerous occasions stood up for points drifters when a very large number of people on the forums teamed up and said their negative comments against them. I was a points drifter all through FM3. I get why people are drawn to it and I think it is the first step for anybody getting into this style of racing/gaming.
My post history would also support that I have always tried to help any person whether it was points or tandems, tunes and setups. I have always made positive comments and supported peoples creative ideas, photos, paint jobs etc. I have taken pride in not getting involved in the hundreds of bashing/hate threads that have appeared over the Four and a Half years that I have been active on these forums. I have always shown a respectful and professional manner.
While I have however expressed that it is my opinion that tandem drifting ( for me ) was just a higher level of style and control and was my next big step in online competitive gaming. I started with points, I matured into tandems. This is how I see it anyway.
I am offended that a several number of people have turned these forums into their personal area to post things that have been mostly perpetual nonsense. Posting in the wrong area, poorly spelled trolling posts, boasting and gloating, putting themselves on a high horse and all the while, offering very little to the betterment of the community.
Its disrespectful the the rest of us that need to have a place for everything, and everything in its place.
Its the epitome of ignorance.
I will admit that my quote located above by Aerodynamiq was a little aggressive. I should have known that wording it slightly nicer would have made all the difference. But, I stand by the point I was trying to make.
I’m sick of seeing it and that’s why it came out so harsh. I want this place to pick up, I want to see some real competition come out of this place like it was even on FM4. Its dead right now and I believe that a good part of it is because people come here for the first time, take one look at the front page and turn around and never come back. Why wouldn’t they? Who would want to come to a message board that has no order and no respect for the rules.
As things seem to so easily get lost in translation here, I want to make it clear that this post is my response to what I feel was a huge over-reaction to a few posts I made. I am not saying anything bad against you Aerodynamiq. In fact I have always respected your posts and find that you see through the BS and always have a well stated and thought provoking contribution. Simply stating that I am not sure if your above post was neutral, for or against me. But just in case its the latter of the Three I wanted to throw this out there.
was using the other guy. that’s why i blocked out his gamertag and not yours
Aero, I agree with your post 100%.
Respect is earned, not just given out blindly to everyone demanding it. Any veteran of the Drift Lounge will tell you, we earned our respect by being respectful to those before us, and we will respect the new guard once they show they are worthy.
As a long time member of these forums, seeing all these POINTLESS arguments over points v. tandem completely killed this community, and drives away any new blood that wishes to be apart of these ranks. Half the reason why most people keep to their own private forums nowadays. If everyone could check their ego at the door, and learn to coexist with one another here, this place would be poppin, instead of the graveyard that it’s become.
Agree with this 100%
+1
I generally like seeing cars get sideways, so i respect any drifting.
“It’s not what you drift, it’s how you act.” - Aerodynamiq
This is what it is all about. 100%. You can be a new drifter, no tune setup and driving an R class. As long as you are open and upfront about being new, or not sure how to tune or whatever reason you may be insecure about your abilities, I will totally hang and talk with you. If you are terrible and smashing people while blasting music into your Mic and have a car with a penis on the side, I will block you and report you.
It’s all about conduct. In general, Forza fans are really nice people. We are absolutely more than happy to spend an hour in a private party/lobby to show you the ropes and give tips on how to tune and show you a good line through some corners. We don’t act like animals, unless you shove a stick in the cage. Sadly though, this is the internet, and there are plenty of kids who get their kicks by shoving that proverbial stick in the cage.
I came to Forza late in the game. I started with FM4, but I did start out drifting. I spent a few months in the random lobbies until I found the User Created Public Lobbies. This changed the whole game for me. I found some really great people who helped me become the drifter I am today. That is how it should be, a community full of helpful and motivational/inspirational people.
First of all great post but I really want to highlight what’s in bold and underlined.
Forza 3 was a game changer for the drifting community because with no user created lobbies points drifting was all there was to do unless you were a forum member so of course anyone new to the gameis going to think this is drifting and it’s all there going to know which is going to carry over to the next game for them and their friends. While user created lobbies don’t stop the bickering it REALLY slows it down because everyone can just do what they want, I mean look at the FM4 drift lounge it’s no where near a full of vs post like the FM5 lounge is(granted this is the new game but still) and that’s because tandem drivers don’t have to beg and plead for others to tandem with we can just join a game which lead to postings in the general area being about events being hosted, tunes/paints being made, and just general new guy questions.
Sorry for that but I know, hell we all know user created lobbies solve nearly all problems with in the drifting community
Personally, I find the argument over which type of drifting is better a bit ridiculous. The things said Aerodynamiq, FizNpop and Fa11enXV and others are all true, respect here, as anywhere else, should be earned not by how you do something, in this case drifting, but how you act. If you go around the forums bragging about how you pulled 300K on Bernese or how you stuck on so-and-so’s door in a tandem battle you probably don’t deserve the respect you are acting like you need. It doesn’t matter to me if you drift for points or tandems or if you drift slow or fast, if you respect me and others that do what we do, then you have my full respect as well. These arguments over which is better are dumb because we are basically two sides of the same coin, and we being pitted against each other for NO REASON. It takes skill to be good at drifting in general no matter your style is so respect those who are good at it and help those that are new to it and learning. The forums should be a lot more active than they are. Yes, I understand that a lot of people still don’t have the One and there’s no user created lobbies and all that but even those that have it that are new are driven away by the fact that being new is basically a sin here! I know when I first got this game, I looked at the forums and was honestly scared to even think about making a post or anything because I would be shunned for being new and drifting for points, and that is a horrible thing. The forums are here for us to learn, grow, and share knowledge with each other to help better ourselves and the community. So everyone should just grow up and accept that drifting for points or tandem doesn’t really matter, its about enjoying what you do and the people you do it with. That’s my two cents on the situation.
This, this x100. You have the right idea.
