I am all most positive these will still be in the same category still… I know if they separated this the 3 lap crowd and overall community would not take advantage of this… For the minority players it would be a great addition and take this game another step closer in being a SIM.
Apologies it’s been a long day - could you explain how separating tyre wear and fuel use would make a difference? In previous Forza’s you always ran out of fuel before you really felt the effect of tyre wear. Are you saying you want the rate of wear increased.
Again apologies if this is something really simple!!
OK, I see. So you want to be able to individually set them so you can, for example, have tire wear but have unlimited fuel? Would be nice I guess, But I would prefer to just have them both on anyways, and I always use full simulation damage in single player.
With separate fuel choice tyou can add fuel amounts for qualifying, start of a race and pit stops.
You can add fuel but not change your tires to save time…
That sounds a lot different from what I originally thought you were talking about. Now it sounds like you want control over pitstops so you can have quick Gas-n-go to save time in the pits by not swapping tires. That is something I would like to see as well. But the way Forza handles tire compounds I don’t think that would be needed. If Forza was to switch to a Tire compound system Like Gran Turismo has then We would need control over tire compound swapping during pit stops. Which is something Gran Turismo has done since the PS2 days, maybe even PS1. Been over a decade since I played GT2, I can’t remember if it had this, but I know GT4 did.
I would love to be able to set how much fuel the car has. Whether I set 5, 10 or more litres. Problem is does the fuel burning off effect the car in Forza? It’s hard to tell as when you pit it’s for both fuel and tires.
Watched a video testing weather the weight of fuel effects anything in FM6, and there was not noticeable difference in lap times from a full tank to 1/3 tank.
Problem is because we can’t pit for a fresh set of tires without adding more fuel so the stagnant lap times may be due to the tire wear balancing out the ruduction in weight through fuel consumption.
If you want to customize fuel and tyres, go play pcars or AC which have that feature. It’s not coming to this game and it will never be a sim. It’s not going to be in lobbies because most wouldn’t know how to properly set it for a race and just run out of fuel before the first stop. T10 needs to up the tyres degradation for endo races to come on par with fuel consumption but highly doubt that will happen.
We don’t really know if this is the case yet and we don’t know where Turn 10 are heading. Just because Forza doesn’t have adjustable fuel doesn’t mean we should play PC or AC. And what’s with people thinking games aren’t good because they’re not a SIM geez.
I do however agree that the tire wear effect needs to be increased slightly. The cut off point is good as you feel the wear a lot when they hit the cliff at about 70% but up till then theres not much effect. I also think the fuel consumption needs to be reduced for a lot of cars. If I’m correct Forza only allows 20 litres of fuel in the car.
I think part of the reason for this, is for years forza was the only option and also was lightyears ahead of the competition. Many of the fans like myself believed they were pushing the envelope and in the development process and were decieved into believe that the console was the stranglehold. Now that AC and Pcars have come to xbox and attempted things that forza didnt even want to try (even if it was a highly requested feature) that the others sucessfully pulled of people are upset because they are realizing their once beloved forza wasnt incapable of doing those things, they just dont want to. The past 2 years has been a turning point and many are noticing forza isnt what they want any longer, and its saddening when the series you enjoy and care about never cared about what you wanted because it doesnt match what they want.
Competition breeds better products… or so we were hoping, but forza has its direction and it is not towards sim which is what many were hoping for on console and a company with a read budget.
Forza has it’s own place in the racing world and trying to make it a sim is not in it’s future. The game is good for upgrading cars with tuning and just racing, pcars and AC are geared more towards the sim side because of more details it brings. And me personally, never said Forza was not good because it is not a sim, it has it’s features but will never call it a sim and it will never be one.
Forza 2 had it dialed in with tyre wear and fuel but went down hill afterwards. It had a nice balance of tyre degradation and fuel consumption and depending on the car, the affects vary. Short races ain’t going to see any affects but should be implemented for longer races for example 15 laps on rd Atlanta where tyres and fuel will be consumed quickly.
The original Forza you us eto be able to choose tires or fuel or both in a pit stop. You also use to be able to qualify for a race. Know there idea of s race is throwing you in the back of a 24 car fried on a 3 lap “race”. That’s not a race that dive bomb and cut off the others on your way up to the front because if you are not in front by lap 1 there is no way you will catch up to the lead cars. As much as Forza wants to claim it’s a sim it’s just not, thee is a lot missing for it to be called a sim.
If you are on only console as much as it pains me to say this but give Project cars a try. It has its issues but it gives you a much better taste of sim racing if that’s what you are after. Playing Pcars with a wheel on my Xbox is what finally convinced me to make the jump to PC and iracing.
@ECT CHEF: Please no. The tire and fuel consumption already seems high, to me at least. Recently I ran the Indy 250 endurance event and I was pitting every 10 laps or so for a total of about 8 stops for the race which seemed pretty frequent.
@Littleblueneon: Qualifying should be an option not a requirement. Supposedly the world championship events in FM4 had a qualifying race first but your position in the race and lap times had no bearing upon your starting position in the second. Just for the record I would go with Project Cars any day of the week over iRacing. iRacing is the biggest scam going. If you are to pay for a subscription service, you should have access to all the content. The added cost for each car and track is out of control.
I really wish they were separate settings. Try racing LMP cars on Le Mans for a 30 lap race with fuel and tire wear on in FM6. Your tire wear won’t make a difference because you’ll be pitting every 5/6/7 laps (depending on car) to refuel. That isn’t realistic by any stretch of the imagination. At least if you could turn fuel wear off for that race you’d be able to get tire wear involved.
