Fuel Consumption (now building list of cockpit low fuel warning)

Yeah, fuel is a off and no pit strat - fuel only pit makes endurance a moot point for the most part.

Basically pick the car that can get more laps even if slower pending distance and number of pits required for given race. (2pits/1 pit for instance)

Would love a fuel only pit/ or full service pit so then tire wear could become a factor

Pretty sure Lmp cars were not pitting ever 3 laps in real life.
I know they double/triple stint tires.

Okay it’s clear that turn use a multiplication for the fuel consumption. Real lmp 1 cars go between 11 and 13 laps. So 6 laps would be a good compromise. Than you would have 2 stops in a 1 hour race. The GT3 and GTE/GTLM are not balanced too. The audi r8 lms can go 18 laps in road atlanta and the C7.R can go 22 laps. The only workaround is, that every player must go that often in the pit, like the one with highest fuel consumption. But when you race against drivatars that doesn’t work :frowning:

While I find the new rate of gas consumption about as realistic as Forza5, just in the other direction, I’ve quite enjoyed having to deal with pit strategy. I just wish either my tires were actually fried @ about the same time or I could have the option to shorten my pit with a just gas stop, just tire stop, repair stop, or any combination.

For every example that it will be realistic I can bring the opposite. Then the driviator can I some cases nearly run twice as long whe players. Driviator run with bugatti veron 13 laps in daytona I must go to the pits after 7 laps!!! Driviator runs in indy 29 laps I must pit after 18 laps with the identic cars. There is an issue and that can’t be ignored in my eyes. But I have low hopes because that fixing by nearly 500 different cars will costs months.

Remember drivaters shift at redline. If you are constantly above redline than yes you would burn more fuel. Being a track thats constantly at high revs this is very possible.

It doesn’t seem like short shifting works to save fuel either. A Focus ST does about 5 laps at Le Mans weather I rev all the way past red line or roll the throttle, shift at 5k and run in 6th gear on the straights. It was only when I lifted and coasted every straight and way before each turn that I barely squeezed another lap out and went 6 laps. And I was pretty hardcore hypermiling too I was off the throttle almost half the time for all 6 laps.

Right I done some more testing earlier with some pals and we had another private track session around brands hatch in 3 cars. Pretty much flat out from the beginning just a small warm up and here’s what happened
DISTANCE
M6
2.43milesx15 =36.45miles
AMG GTS
2.43milesx16 =38.88miles
RS7
2.43milesx13 =31.59miles

Fuel tank size
M6 80 litres/17.6 gallon UK

AMG GTS 65 litres/14.1 gallon UK

RS7 75 litres/16.5 gallon UK

Averages
BMW M6 2.07 mpg
AMG GTS 2.75mpg
Audi RS7 1.91mpg

Again some pretty poor economy figures or more cars with fuel leaks I can’t tell.
Interestingly the audi RS7 fuel symbol (cockpit) turned red a couple of laps (5miles roughly) before it did run out so I will amend the OP to have a section for cars with in cockpit fuel warnings. Once we have discovered enough it may be worth its own thread

Having tested this myself personally I have discovered it’s a subtle warning but it is there. The fuel gauge is a series of lights which go out as you loose fuel. (As is the amg gts but that has no warning) When you reach the last two lights/bars of fuel they turn from white to red. Nice to know

But in Indianapolis even the drivatars didn’t shift. It’s impossible to run 29 laps. It’s true you can save a bit fuel when not run highspeed. I run that track with a mazda lmp runs 370 max. and as I drove 330 I’ve saved maybe 20%. So I can run maybe 4 laps. But the drivatars run 350 so they never can run 11 laps more. The same for daytona you can’t not run faster, what the bugatti did, and save fuel and then run 6 more laps. I’m 100% sure that the bugatti have a higher fuel consumption than the new ford gt. But I take it as it is for now. But endurance races in free play are at the moment on higher difficulty hard to win in a lot of cases.

Run the Stock Car engine swap and you’ll never need fuel. I can run 50 laps at Daytona and only use a 1/4 tank and never have to pit.

Really? Damn this is messed up

Yep. I’ve tested this on two cars so far. Both with the same results.

Wow…Forzatech

Yes I was wondering about this. I ran the Corvette Z06 for about 20 minutes and needed g.as. In real life a Z06 runs for 35-50 minutes on a full tank in GM testing depending on the track and conditions. Hopefully Turn 10 fixes this issue.

I don’t believe that this will be that easy to fix. Maybe for the stock engines. But there are million possibilities by 460 cars with tuning parts. Than run cars in same class but not from the same time. It’s not that easy like it seem on the first sight. But a info about the current fuel consumption in the tuning box would be very helpful.

It probably won’t be that easy to fix I agree. But why go on about simulation this and that and go as far as replicationof every puddle and surface and bang on about realism when you can’t even correctly model the cars. You know the main reason we all buy into this franchise and keep them going. It won’t be an easy fix bit in my mind it should be right to begin with.

So…, to make sure this doesn’t fly under the radar because it gets lumped into a general category of “fuel consumption isn’t quite right,” Roller1986 is getting like 800 miles per gallon. Not literally, of course, but if he can run 200 laps on one tank of gas, that’s not “not quite right,” that’s insane. I mean, that’s 200 laps at full throttle, or 500 miles full-throttle. What would that be as normal road driving, like 2,000+ miles on one tank of gas? This is by far the most offensive fuel figure I’ve yet seen.

Edit. Not needed

My fiesta eco gets 75mpg, beat that?

:smiley:

Calculated in FM6 or IRL
IRL my Raptor is averaging 7mpg. I win lol
If thats in forza the fiesta may just be the best endurance car haha
