Free-for-all Adventure / Online Discussion

Next time you get behind these fine folks, let your front bumper have a ‘debate’ with their rear one when you catch them up at a corner, it’s the only way they’ll learn :ok_hand:

(I know we all sometimes accidentally brake too late in the bustle of racing and do something we shouldn’t, like I did yesterday and got instant payback, but we also know the difference between occasional misjudgements and habitual deliberate offenders who see it as a legitimate tactic. I hate it too, but if someone drives like that with me then I take it as a green light that they are fine with it to happen to them.)

Yeah, I’m just not very good at fighting fire with fire and don’t enjoy it anyway. I’m likely to usually come out worse against someone whose usual driving style is based on that approach.

He really annoyed me at Horizon Festival Circuit when he basically hit the back of my car at every corner (after I’d overtaken him reasonably cleanly - so far as that’s possible at that circuit!) until he eventually managed to do so sufficiently to allow him space to get through. I’m pretty sure I’d have driven away from him if I’d ever managed to get around a corner without him hitting me. He’s challenged me to a Rivals race anyway, so I’ll see how quick he is without my car to aid his braking :-).

Just had a terrible rammer who cost me a load of points. I’ve noted the events offered today and it’s more than 75% off-road.

Net points for today… zero.

God I hate the people that play this game. Using trucks for dirt and cars for XC just so they can be a nuisance. Idiot rams me in the cobble wall and comes to a complete stop in front of me. There is no ghosting in freeroam so I lose the freeroam and lose the room on a tie. When I dont get sabotaged by other players, I rarely lose. Just a fact. Makes me so mad because I just won 15 the room before, just to lose it on some BS like that.

Is it possible to skip/reject an adventure without penalty?

I get warned of a temporary ban and, I assume, a loss of ranking points will follow if I back out. Please tell me there’s a way - PLEASE! lol

They’re certainly out there. Yesterday I had a delightful pair of miscreants whose sole aim was to wreck me at every opportunity. Cost me 40+ points and a trip back to a lower league.

I’m convinced the milksops afflicted with this mentality have missed a few millennia of evolution, and the only automotive knowledge they’re familiar with is the Pirelli they swing from while eating a banana.

As soon as you get a match stop pressing buttons. When the playlist is showing you’ll get timed out for inactivity right before the match starts.

If you don’t get timed out for some reason, on PC you can just Alt+F4 to close the game (not sure if this works on xbox). You won’t lose points unless you load into the first race. Here’s an example: Twitch

Thank you.

Just won a wet A class street room on a tie without winning one race, all the more lucky because I tried a TZ2 knowing it would be slower than ideal, in exchange for easier handling. It was definitely too slow and I just got lucky that the other drivers were inconsistent so two 2nd places and a 3rd was good enough to win on a 46 points tie. I got +15 and a new rank high (I think) of 4324.

Ok, is there a trick to get a swift reset if you roll by simply exiting to the menu and back again? Was watching a live stream earlier and the guy landed on his roof, promptly exited to menu and back out and his car was the right way up - no long black screen.

I suspect there is, witnessed that few times, possibly only on PC …

If that’s all it is then it should work on console too? Simply pressing pause to bring up the menu is rapid on console too presumably? I haven’t tried it, I am intrigued though. If there is a way to prevent the stupid slow resets I might stop avoiding dirt races. (I still hate freeroam rush though. It works better in Eliminator than in online adventures.)

edit - I tried it in free roam (not freeroam rush) and it works, reset is rapid without any loading screens, just by pausing and then unpausing. I’ll try it in an unranked adventure later.

If the game is capable of doing such rapid resets, it makes you wonder why it insists on the stupid long loading screen usually? Must be inefficient design or programming rather than a hardware limitation then.

edit 2 - tried in FRR once when it looked like I was going to roll over, paused but the car landed on its wheels anyway so it’s inconclusive so far. I hope someone who plays FRR normally can experiment and figure it out.

Possibly also just had the greatest race ever, though got totally done by the sync issues. Winner 1.41.807. Me 1.41.905 (for 5th). 5 of us virtually in a line at the end of the Ambleside Loop x country. Brilliant clean racing. On my screen, I was 2nd or at worst 3rd though!

Somewhat annoying outcome to a brilliant set of races. There was a GM, me, a League 3 and a League 4, and two very fast unranks (both 7* prestige). I finished 3rd, ahead of the GM and League 3 but behind one of the unranks and the League 4. Got -6 points for my trouble. It’s a cruel game at times.

Finally had a disconnect. Rough day  I guess I should be grateful I went this long without it happening.

Edit: make that 2, game just crashed :stuck_out_tongue:

I tried it last night, both in normal Freeroam and in a FRR race and it seemed to work. Fairly ridiculous I’ve been losing 5 seconds every time with that black screen when it’s possible to reset instantly with this trick.

I think it’s just a trait of the game + devs, they seem to get off on making you wait way longer than you should have to for as many things as they can.

I’ve had good results today and made it to 4357, then was just doing well in another round, headed for another good finish and some person who I can’t use the words I’d like to describe them, rammed me into a bridge and I stopped dead. I caught him up (still in a low position) but he deliberately held me up. I finished the adventure 5th and lost 15 points. These people should be banned from Xbox live. (Or from life. j/k! I know, it’s ‘just a game’ and I shouldn’t let myself get wound up by it.)

Since people dont get punished for dirty driving, i’m gonna start knocking people outside checkpoints. I dont mind fighting fire with fire. I’ve lost 80 today because of people constantly playing dirty. The guy just now made sure to knock me away from the finishing point in a freeroam. Wow we’re going that far now? Okay, I can be a very dirty finesse player and I guess thats what needs to be done to win these days. So be it.

That is sadly what rank mode is generating, a generation of players with high ramming skills, low social criteria. This will for sure contaminate all FH episodes.

I understand those going for it, frustration can be hell, I won’t. Just same way I wouldn’t trick my game even if I knew how … I have values and disrespect of other players is against these.

what PG/T10 did to Forza by making dirty racing legit and promoting it, is just a shame.

No one gets punished, they don’t even give you extra rank if you’re clean. So what’s the point? People get a stern talking to in a message or we rib them on the forum but what does it change? Nothing. I’m not gonna go after everyone but if someone stands between me and winning overall I’ll probably tap them very strategically

Hi all,
i am a new FH4 user not new on sim racing though. Upon finishing all of the game challenges i am now on trying free for all ranked adventure.

When started as unranked met with some crazy opponents ramming me from behind or out of the track. I thought ok, when climbing upwards these players will diminish, guess what i have to deal with more rammers. The only way to win this thing is to start close to pole position, PG should adress this.

A walkaround could be something like this, at the end of each game set all of the participants can give someone a negative voting. So the annoying guy with the corolla gets a few penalty points. If you get enough penalty points and PG detects colisions with other opponents you are out for a month. This should do the trick i guess.
