I have noticed something similar on the Bugatti Circuit just before 2nd last corner. Maybe 50m before the corner it’s as if the whole frame stutters briefly. I imagine some huge texture is being loaded at that time but what do I know?
Anyone found a way around this? I didn’t used to have this happen, but now, since the previous few updates or so, I have it happen 95% of the time and it’s extremely noticeable. I don’t get what causes it though. There is the occasional lap where it doesn’t happen at all halfway down Old Mulsanne, and like I said, I never used to have it happen.
Tried and tried to narrow down what might be causing it but no joy. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s multi-player, singleplayer, just me on the track or other cars on the track. I even thought it might be caused by the rewind feature recording the gameplay for the quick rewind and went to disable it. It appears you can’t disable it though.
Incredibly irked by this now
Doesn’t happen in replays for me.
I got frozen for a split second and wiped out on the last right sweeping turn with the blue and yellow lines on the left and the grass on the right.
The Lemans lag/freeze is also noticeable in the MP/SP replay footage. It’s definitely not caused by a weak connection.
its more than just a frame rate drop and its more than a freeze in the frame, you actually (freeze) loose that time like you are not moving at all while the freeze is happerening.
Also it happenes sometimes when switching to the telemertry and I loose about 15m on track in the race, it needs to be fixed.
Old Mulsanne hic-cup? Yup.
This stutter is still happening to me until now. It happens on all tracks especially when you are making turns on corners. Hasn’t this been resolved yet? Can anyone help me with this? It’s annoying.
Thank you so much for noticing this flaw and posting. I waited until couple months ago to purchase Xboxone and FM5. Read every review, post and criticism available. Nowhere was mention of this screen lag. Popped in FM5, started driving and it hit me like a kick in the gut. Had this same problem with FM3. FM4 was perfect so I figured T10 had it ironed out. I get the screen issue in multiple spots on every track. Did all trouble-shooting. Ruins the experience. Like a voice reminding me, “You’re not a race driver or a supercar owner. You’re a pathetic middle-aged creep playing a video game.” Of all the complaining and nit-picking we do this has got to be the moustache on the Mona Lisa. I love Forza series. Can live with anything but screen lag/tear or whatever it is. Please ,T10, work on this or at least acknowledge it. This game is touted as “60fps non-stop”. Thank you for all the other things done so incredibly well.
I have read another forum about this with one member reiterating this issue over and over again. Some of the members experience the issue too and supported him. Sadly, he was continuously being refuted by those who say that they are not experiencing the issue at all and it might be his xbox. I also read a forum about the wwe game on xbox one that stutters on some xbox but runs smoothly on others. With that, I got a worried because I though it could also be my unit and I could no longer exchange my unit for I purchased it several weeks ago. Are there really xbox ones which are faulty? I did everything. Reinstalled twice and restored system to default but to no avail. The lag/stutter/judder/momentary freeze continue to persist. It’s most noticeable around every corner of every track I race. IT DOESN’T HAPPEN ALWAYS BUT IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY.
Here’s all details of my problem. Hope we can get it fixed somehow.
- GOTY disc
-Panasonic Viera 32" Tv
-Standard Xboxone controller
-Connected directly to Tv
-SP whether online or off. Internet cable does not even have to be plugged in.
-Tried all HDMI ports, other cables.
-All combinations of Xbox and Tv settings
-If cables or Tv were the cause I believe occurences would be random, but they are not. Always same places on tracks. Old Lemans straght, Bugatti after turning towards Ferris wheel are the worst
but does on every track several places. Usually turns. This says,“game” to me.
Camera view or hud options, no difference.
-FM3 had same problem on 360. FM4 ran perfectly. FM3 was on a different Tv.
Good luck to all of us who experience this. Maybe everyone does but just doesn’t notice or care. Thanks to all above who have replied. Somehow I am still having a great time with FM5, just not 500$ worth.
The game is great, no question about that. But to enjoy a racing game, it must definitely be smooth as silk. These stutterings/ momentary freezes annoys players because it can affect the outcome of the race especially if it happens during cornering. By the way, this also happens in split screen races/ local multiplayer. I just went to the store where I bought the xbox one, left it to have it checked so that I can have a bit of peace of mind. I also left the game disc with them as the technical group will be trying to play it to another console. I’ll be right back to give some updates.
I got my Xbox One back today but technical support people were not able to spot the stutter/frame rate freeze in the game. They said it’s difficult to spot which I think is the reason why most people who play the game don’t notice it. Some say they’re not experiencing it. Maybe they’re not just seeing it. Technical team also said that if this is present, it’s a problem within the emulation of the game. Guess we need some sort of a patch but it’s unlikely given that all eyes are on FH2 now. Best thing is just to wait for Forza Motorsport 6. But for now, we just have to live with this minor setback in FM5.
Thank you for your effort. Hard to imagine that someone could not notice the stutter. Perhaps everyone has it but only a few care. Or perhaps only a few see it due to some eye abnormality. I have astigmatism but better than 20-20 with my glasses. Forza 3 had same problem but FM4 never did it even once. Just thought of this- wife ,daughter and son live here. I will have them watch gameplay and ask if they notice anything but without prompting on exactly what I’m looking for. Hard to believe I just thought of this. Hope FM6 is better. Maybe skips a generation(laughs).
This happens to me Alot in online lobbies. Going bumper to bumper at 270 mph is not a good time for lag.
the only stuttering i get is when i’m doing a hairpin turn and the whole screen has a big stutter as if you’ve overflowed the frame buffer and the thing has to reel more data off the hdd or something
esp. noticeable on tracks with multiple hairpins or chained corners
i also find it funny that people here blame the xbox as if its faulty
do you guys not have other games? so far fh2 has been perfect for me with no sound or gfx glitches… if fh2 is perfect and forza 5 isnt how can it be anything but forza 5?
i’m of the opinion that forza 5 just isnt as polished as it can be given the 60fps thing and it being the release title AND the lack of updates on glaring issues that should have been fixed day one
with all the other bugs and the known 8Gb ddr3/32Mb esram thing… this will decide the narrative for the xbox for this generation
Well, it’s hard not to suspect a faulty xbox one because people from other forums experienced faulty ones particularly with the wwe game. The bottom line here is that FM5 is a launch title which can be the reason why it’s not that polished. I don’t have FH2 because it doesn’t have splitscreen multiplayer which is a determining factor for me as I play with my brother. Anyways, let’s just all hope for the best in FM6. The game was already announced and everybody’s excited for sure. It’s also exciting to know how it will fare against GT7.
I’m glad I found this thread after a Google search.
But not very pleased to be running into these stuttering issues myself.
I don’t think I noticed anything unusual when you race a P1 for the first time on Prague. But as I started playing the game more, I noticed the stutters on every track. It’s EXACTLY what you guys have described, and seems to happen more on turns, and almost never on straights. I don’t think I’ve noticed this in replays, races only and happens whether I’m online/offline, hot lapping or full grid race.
Reminds me of the FM3 bug, where there was a stutter and the car would suddenly jump pace to try to keep up with the action. I can’t believe I’m dealing with this now after excitedly purchasing an X1 JUST for Forza.
Not sure if it increased or started after the 14GB content update or was there already. But it’s definitely affecting gameplay. It even happens on the Test Track that’s not graphically intensive at all. Definitely has something to do with game emulation; the way it loads textures or maybe makes physics calculations. Hasn’t been optimized properly.
Gears 1 was a launch title too and it was smooth as silk with no noticeable bugs. All previous Forzas never had this bug/anomaly (FM3 had this issue in replays only if memory serves).
I’ve already done everything fans are discussing on forums: cold boot, hard reset or whatever you call it. Going with energy saving mode rather than always on. Quitting my games before completely turning off the console. Not running any background tasks or downloads.
Interestingly, Horizon 2 has displayed ZERO hiccups. Even though the 30 fps feel laggy after playing Motorsport, the 30 fps are completely hiccup-free, which is quite ironic, seeing how much more “loaded” the game is visually.
I really wish T10 would release a quick patch to fix this or at least have a tips thread of some sort.
Annoying and unnecessary in a game like FM5. Kills the immersion and gameplay at times.
Okay, so is there an update on this guys?
It’s pretty much happening to everyone on just about every track…sometimes more noticeable, sometimes less.
I don’t think T10 is going to patch this up or release an update to resolve it altogether seeing how close we are to FM6.
Although an update would be nice.
Only seeing this on Lemans tracks, no others.
No other tracks at all? You sure? I’m assuming you have the latest system update as well as the 14 gig content update.
Does it have to do with having a PAL/NTSC console? I have the former.
Could you please check if it happens on Prague, Long Beach, Mt. Panorama or The complete N’Ring layout for example?
