Forzathon Cars being forced into inappropriate classes

I really hope it isn’t a continuous trend but this forzathon has been abysmal. Every championship was on water, they put MODERN SPORTS CARS on DIRT. Why would anyone do that. Of course the drivatars have no problem but as you struggle to tune a road car for dirt the A.I. laugh at you. Nevertheless I beat that event but it is extremely frustrating that I can’t even enjoy cars in the environment that they are meant for. I really can’t believe that I spent money on this game. And the generally abysmal sound track feels like a slap in the face.

It’s the wet season this week so unsurprising we had wet races.
I was surpised we did have a storm during at least one race as I expected the have my ears blown out by the fake wind noises that sound like someone held a microphone under a hand drier.

No problem with the modern sports cars, stock 4wd will do the job as it’s not that muddy, if not then slap on some rally tires, rally diff and rally suspension and you have yourself a rally car.

It’s not that hard. I picked up a tune that someone else did and it was easy peasy. And I’m not some great elite player, either. I like the out of the ordinary mashups.

I do find that The Trial is a bit obnoxious for really requiring you to know the required car and get a tune first, because otherwise you are really letting your team down, but single player championships are all about mixing it up IMO.

Aren’t some rally cars just modified sports cars?

Some are… Sorta. Most Rally cars are based on sporty cars but they completely gut the interior, add aero, change the suspension, etc.

They do have to follow homologation rules though, but even in those cases the rally car has a beefed up everything lol.

The general idea is any car you see in the WRC has to be a car that you can buy off a dealership lot brand new and then with some (some=Lots of) money and mechanic skills take that car and turn it into essentially the same thing you see in races.

As for classes and tuning… If you aren’t tuning your vehicle then you’re leaving significant performance on the table. It could be speed, acceleration, handling or most likely all 3.

The setting I see most people get wrong is tire pressure. When you buy a tire it’s usually at or close to it’s intended pressure when cold and will get to optimum psi when warmed up.

Remember as a tire warms the psi goes up. So you wanna test your tires on the surface you plan to use them on and enable telemetry then pay attention to the inside and center temps the most. Outside is important but not as important as the first 2.when it comes to tuning.

Why did I bring up tuning? Cause someone in the topic said they always use cars without tuning them or downloading a tune.

I agree with OP on this one. As someone who keeps all of his cars stock, I’ve always found the championships that place inappropriate cars on dirt especially dumb.

I completely agree. I love to enjoy the cars as they are meant to be. I love to make something every once in a while but I hate having to make a full build for every small event. I don’t mind a challenge but not unreasonable ones

Looks like someone has never seen folk racing like Jokamiesluokka in Finland aka best fun you can have on 4 wheels.

You can easily return any car to stock in the customization. Feel free to customize them for the event, and change them back when you’re done.

Also, there are several accolades for using tuned cars, so it’s in your interest to use them SOMETIMES at least.

Seriously? how do you even progress in the game? or do you play on beginner difficulty all the time?
What do you even do in this game if you dont tune your cars and you dont have cars to win tournaments? o.O

It literally doesn’t matter WHAT car you run. You are never better or worse than the AI. They don’t use actually parts or tunes, and their PI is irrelevant. It just puts up a number withing a few of yours.

Say you have the game on highly skilled or expert, and you run a stock car, they AI will usually finish +/- within 5 seconds of you. Say you fix your car up, AI will finish quicker as well. Now tune your car to shave off an extra second, without modifying it. AI will shave off another second. Now, just restart and let someone play that’s even better than you, on the SAME race. Instead of them just increasing the gap with the AI, it will just get faster. Then, race again, but purposely drive slower. The AI will DECREASE in speed.

They literally scale off of you acceleration time, and max speed, and how they drive is determined by how much you hit the throttle or brake. If you get too far ahead, they will just teleport behind you (this is especially noticable, because quite often the AI car in last place will have the best lap time, and beat even top rivals times, because they get the largest jump when teleported). It literally doesn’t matter AT ALL what you do with your car, and it will never be better or worse than the AI. You sort of indirectly control the AI with however you drive.

You aren’t “racing” at all, and your vehicle/tune doesn’t matter. The game is just attempting to give you a very poorly implemented illusion of a race. They even slow down if they get too far ahead, to help you try and catch up.

Huh. Weird how sometimes I lap the entire pack because the PI broke and I’m in a high PI car versus a bunch of D class AI.

What’s wrong with it specifically being modern sports cars? It doesn’t mean they can’t go on dirt. Some of the cars on here classified as “modern sports cars” actually have body kits and hoods and stuff for proper rally setups.

I used a Lotus Exige, which is classified as a modern sports car, and IS used in rallies.

Some of the car classifications in the game are pretty arbitrary, and a car can be modified for multiple purposes. Trucks for drag, sports cars for rallies, vans for speed runs, etc. I was just watching a thing last night, about this guy who has this 1600hp 1949 diesel F-100, pushing 100 pounds of boosts. He runs the same truck at Pikes Peak, and for drag. Similar thing with the “Big Red Camaro” guy. He uses the same car for speed runs on the salt flats, road racing, and Pikes Peak.

well, a arcade game is not a simulation

Buy an Audi.

Your enjoyment of this game will increase considerably once you start thinking a little outside the box. This game isn’t Gran Turismo. Throw some rally springs and tires on that Supra and drive.

i keep all my cars stock too, always have only had issues with the SUV cross country event, but eventually beat that.

… Dude. Just go grab an Audi Quattro and slap Rally tires and suspension on. It’s not that hard.

At least we haven’t got to the point where they have us drive Rally Monsters in Cross Country events… yet. :pensive:
