So two things from this image taken from Ericship111’s video comparing FM7 and FM:
- The atrocious TE37 wheel model returns for yet another game, why oh why do they have to do that
- Surprisingly, there are new wheel options from Volk Racing which we haven’t seen in FH5 yet

well thats no surprise and very depressing. the wheel options and offsets in forza are atrocious

I’m just glad we’ve got new RAYS & VOLKS to play with tbh. Been wanting some of those for a long time.
I mean, if they’re going ahead with scanning those then why avoid scanning the inaccurate ones? it doesn’t really make sense to me considering there are these 17 people complaining about it. And RE30s are literally available on the Donkervoort D8 GTO which has been in Forza since Horizon 2 with those exact wheels, so they can just do what they did in Motorsport 7 and take those wheels, modify them slightly and put them in the custom wheel roster
I know pal. We had the GT-C’s on the Top Secret S15 from FM4, ADVAN GT’s on FM2 & plenty of other great rims on Unicorns bitd. We’re missing kits from current cars that were on old gen versions like the Buddy Club ones for the EP3 & EK9 Type R’s. I wish they’d bring them all back from that period, missing Honda’s included, but it’s their franchise & all we can do is hope down the line & lot of stuff returns at some point.
And btw the TE37’s didn’t always look that bad, they were re modelled for next gen on FM5 but made the spokes way too thin. They looked better in FM3 & 4 but were at their peak on FM2.

Oh I know, I’ve played all of them after all. I genuinely have no idea how they managed to ruin them for FM5 and never fix them.
Oh no…

That ain’t good. Which means the horrid model since FM5 is coming back… again.

Turn 10, LASER-SCAN THESE CARS, NOW!!

It is very easy to spot which models are ancient and which are newly done, same model years, same wheels, etc.
I have never played Forza nor GT, but even as a casual lurker, it is very clear T10 have been very lazy with this stuff.
It is quite painful to see badly modelled cars get used over and over for so many years.
E46 still with the very incorrect 19" alloys, for instance.
Same goes for the E36, E92 M3, other cars - the E92 always been a 2007MY car in Forza. Horizon received the M3 GTS, based on a facelited 2010 car, but the devs did not bother (or could not) re-creating a base M3 out of the GTS.
It does my head in.
Yet the W212 E63 AMG did received an update and we got the facelited model later on. Now obviously, would’ve been better to keep both, but on the other hand, they are still recycling the C32 AMG, a largely irrelevant vehicle anyway.
One detail I would really like to see would be factory wheel options to choose from.

The M3 GTS in Forza is completely wrong. It’s missing a few key details, like the original roll bar and (IIRC) the alcantara trim on the steering wheel.

And the rev lights on the cluster. Funnily enough, all of that was a thing in Horizon 1, and it even had actual customization in that game too (standard E92, M-Sport and Hammann parts). I also think the FH1 model was more accurate than the standard E92 M3 model we’ve had since Motorsport 2.

Hence my disappointment with that car!

Dan Greenwalt even used to own an E92
I guess they need to hire car people to look over these details

The E92 was upscaled with a lot errors for Horizon 5 (look at what’s going on with the front of the rear fender). It also has it’s panel edges too rounded (clear showing that the car model was just upscaled) and not sharp like the newer car models. I have not seen the regular E92 on the list, but if they are only putting the GTS then they better let us put 18’s on it. No one tracks 19’s with the E9x platform.
I would be fine with crappy old models if they didnt purposefully remove the new scans just so they can drip feed them in. I mean they showed a trailer with vehicles that apparently wont even be in the game at launch. There have been movies that have been sued because they showed a trailer with an actor that was cut from the movie (“i watched this movie because the trailer showed [insert actor here] and they weren’t even in it”)

When I was much more of a car forum lurker than I am now, I remember reading somewhere that someone at BMW recommended tracking the E92 with 18s.
These errors won’t go away until Microsoft stops handling the outsourcing of models on the cheap. Every large company outsources these days, but they all have quality control systems in place to prevent modeling accuracy issues.
I was told by a Porsche test driver (while during a promotional ride along) to not get the carbon brakes if you track the car regularly and if you can’t afford thousands to replace them and yet they still put them on cars without the ability to upgrade them. There is a real difference between specs of cars given to reviewers for one fancy lap versus people who actually takes their cars to the track with their own money. Unless they now allow you to put smaller wheels, the E92 M3 GTS is stuck with the OEM 19 wheel size and that is leaving seconds on the table and so what happened to building the best car you can built to track? But this talk really deserves its own thread.
