Well said. It’s a very concerning trend. There are countless car models that have barely been updated (or not updated at all!) since the release of FM 18 years ago. That’s not a good look. Especially when they have gone on and on for months about how this game is “built from the ground up” despite these ancient car models and 10 year old ugly Forza aero.
Resolution has no affect on a objectively incorrect car model. They might have “smoothed” out these cars (added some polygons and rounded some hard edges), but the car proportions are not accurate to IRL car. You can’t perfect some thing is inherently bad.
It’s the small details that elevates a great game into a phenomenal one. These small compromises to accuracies are impeding that. Because there is no community mods, the expectation for graphical fidelity and features is higher.
And I’ve been playing racing games of all varieties since the age of 3, when I had a NES and the game Excitebike. Your point?
You are confusing technically competent with great. GT7 is a very solid entry and big improvement over 5 and 6, but there are still quirks to it that keep it from being a great game. The Forza franchise has vacillated between having great entries and having technically competent entries, with every turn since 2017 sitting in the latter group. A great game means we don’t have concerns like these, or if they come up, they’re addressed quickly and satisfactorily. Given how things like this have been talked about for years and to the degree that competitors have been witnessed addressing them, Turn 10’s seeming refusal to even acknowledge them does not give the impression that Motorsport 2023 will live up to the hype they have been attempting to sell for the last few months.
is it a fashion of everything criticized to read you I have the impression that the game is ugly not finished there are your eyes qualities on Forza that make you want to play the game
I was sent the exact gifs shown in the thread, here they are
well my opinion is the right one considering anyone with eyes can see just how off everything is. Also ive been around since FM1 launched so whats your point? Ive been around all these cars in real life and clearly you havent if you cant see just how off these are.
The “built for the ground up” qoute failed totally imo, i hope it does not gonna be another Forza motorsport 5 failure. Im so dissapointed right now that they dont have redone the car models that is coming back. Its just lazy.
It dont want 3d models from forza motorsport 4!
I think I am just going to accept that some people just don’t want to be happy. I see differences in the posted gifs, not to mention either gif is not a perfect comparison (real life vs. FH5/FM4) vs. Camera angle, depth, etc. The quality of pixels is night and day vs. Forza 4 that many of you are comparing to. The product if FM23 looks much much better. Sorry but it’s nitpicking and nitpicking on a game you have not even put hands on yet.
Last post in this waste of time and energy thread. I’ll enjoy my S15 regardless what model it is.
Why were you even here if you disagree with its very purpouse?
I think I am just going to accept that some people just don’t want excellence in their purchases and hobbies. I see differences in the posted gifs, not to mention either gif is not a perfect comparison (Camera angle, depth, etc), but acknowledge the car model is inaccurate. The models in FM23 look the same as it has throughout the years. Sorry but it’s nitpicking and nitpicking on a game the developers have built from the ground up.
Last post in this analysis of a thread. I’ll enjoy literally any other car besides the S15, regardless what model it is.
enjoy your horribly inaccurate and one of the worst models in the game with its saggy droop butt.
we’re paying for a service. Don’t want to drive the same model that was available to us 18 years ago.
I think some just don’t understand the difference between graphic fidelity and modelling accuracy.
It’s much less costly for T10 to polish up the existing model than to do what they actually claim and “build from the ground up” in order to correct the glaring inaccuracies in so many of these ancient car models. They could make this right. But business leaders have decided it isn’t worth it. It’s a sad state of affairs. This type of decision making is infecting the entire AAA gaming industry. They have little competition and incentive to do better.
They get away with it because the product is designed for marketing Gamepass to casual gamers with only a passing interest in simcade racing.
This is all about spending less time and money and maximizing financial gain for top level executives and shareholders. The parent companies are insanely wealthy and increasingly so. This isn’t happening because they are improving their products.
If people are so mad about the car models they should vote
So far this post has 300+ comments but the voting about thia theme has only 36 votes
Mund you the most popular NEW cars have 1000+ votes
Voted!
It is entirely reasonable and fair to expect better. This is 2023 we’re talking about, they had six years to get atleast some of these sorted.
Before I start my reply I’ll say that I know that the game hasn’t been officially released yet so perhaps the real in-game model will look better, but with only 1 month until release are those chances high?
Anyway, I just saw this image on Reddit. It’s a nice comparison between the old FM model of the Evo and the real one. What’s really embarrassing is that the bottom pic is not a real photo but a screenshot of Gran Turismo 7 (note the logo in the bottom left corner). Ouch!
It’s quite disappointing that while the developers took the time to rescan the tracks (that’s why there’s so few of them, they didn’t have time for more), they opted to import old car models to inflate the numbers, instead of remodeling them as well. Comparison screenshots are one thing. But the glaring issue is when you play, you simply see that the car you’re driving is not up to the quality of some others. It looks bland, there’s no geometric detail, headlights are dull, the chassis just looks as if it was made out of one piece. I remember always having this feeling with 90s Japanese cars especially, like the Miata or the Eclipse, those curved chassis didn’t age well. I don’t yet know which cars will suffer from the same “effect” in the new FM, but I’m afraid there will be many, especially among the older models that have been reused many times in the series.
I hoped that visual fidelity of Gran Turismo 7 would be incentive for T10 to remodel these old cars… but nope
I’m relatively new to the forum, actually because of the missing Nordschleife. I’m down since fm3 but not much in the forum. Excuse the question, but do I understand correctly that old models were carried over from the previous parts? I mean the difference in this picture with GT is amazing. I clicked this here because the shorties for the individual routes surprised me and the details seemed too familiar to me. Is this confirmed that some models will just be carried back into the game? Something like that used to happen with an old GT, where it was called premium vehicles or something like that. Will only the newly announced vehicles be designed from scratch? Is that official, or is the finish still missing in the videos? Sorry I’m late to the party.
