Forza's obsession with reusing models is comical yet depressing at this point

Yeah, because we’re getting a ton of those compared to past games.

I’d say it’s too much considering we’ll possibly get like at least 100 unchanged X360 car models, most of which are deformed. I’d much rather have a smaller car list (300-350 is enough) made out of accurate and detailed cars.

New Catalunya footage showcases the glorious Motorsport 1 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI model in a completely unchanged state. What on Earth were they doing these 6 past years?

Using models that are older than a significant percentage of their playerbase and no nurburgring on launch. Im curious to see user score when this game comes out. Reviews will be positive from companies as they’re usually clueless and have to suck up a bit so they keep getting review copies. But the user scores will be a (relatively) honest basis for general reception of the game.

The fact that they showed the Lancer (which I personally like but we could at least get the more iconic Tommi Makinen model for better reference), just screams laziness. But I see one of two reasons:

One, the company is US-based and the majority of these so-called JDM cars were modelled after the Japo market names. Problem is they were completely sloppy in modeling them, in part because most of them were not sold in the United States. They also sloppily converted many of these FM1 models which used to be US-spec. So we’re naturally stuck with cars like the S15 Silvia which is 99 percent likely it will just be reused yet again, after 8 or so iterations of Forza. The other is the '04 Impreza which has incorrect, mismatched regional specifications. A JDM Impreza - which this model is - should have a rear windshield wiper. There shouldn’t be any Subaru badging on the trunk. The rims are completely different for other markets outside of the US.

Or two, they don’t care. At all. On any level.

I can’t wait for the inevitability that the EP3 Civic and the 78 Mustang II King Cobra will wind up on this list. Both of these models are ghastly. The Civic is basically a pre-facelift model with incorrect specs (Honda nameplate logo on the liftgate should not be displayed for JDM model, and there’s a distinctive Union Jack logo meaning it was reverse-imported) and the King Cobra is really roughly modeled, due to the source car’s faults. Notably it has a bump on the rear bumper; the twin cannon exhaust pipes are not factory spec (factory models have a wimpier, barely visible exhaust pipe; the pinstriping is broken; and lastly the radiator support is sagging. Unfortunately, there’s no restoration parts for this malaise-era vehicle, making this a lost cause.

Also I can still see that the Celica SS-I is still called Sport Specialty. What gives, T10?

Much like Horizon, I’m sure casual gamers will love it because they probably won’t play the game longer than a week. As for the more dedicated fanbase, it’ll be probably more of the usual that we’ve seen with past Horizon releases and the general consensus leading up to Motorsport 8’s release. There will be people defending the game as if it was their first born child, impervious to criticism, valid or otherwise. And then there will also be people who aren’t satisified with the content put out from a game that’s been in development for so long. I am personally in the latter camp for now unless I am proven wrong, but based on what I have seen so far on offer, I believe I am right to keep my expectations low and expect the bare minimum (the usual) from a new Forza post Xbox 360.

Um…CJ Pony parts has just about everything you need for ANY gen Mustang. They are the go to for Mustangs just like Classic Industries is for just about any other manufacturer.

Also, there are tons of these cars still around and in better shape than whatever one they used for modeling. The nose up stance on that car has always made me cringe.

Certainly will be disappointing if the cars are like this on release, I don’t like it, but I won’t be letting this get in the way of my enjoyment of the game.

You’re lucky then

100% amazed at how posters… If you can’t see how the models have been updated, then you are blind or blinded by something else. If you think they are actually the exact same as previous models FM4 and before, than you are dumb. Next Gen graphics from OG Xbox to Xbox 360 to Xbox One to Xbox SS or SX
are updates. The head and tail lights show that. Many of you are just unhappy souls with unreal expectations.

wow textures have been fixed yet the whole proportions of the body are still awful… some of us that own these cars irl despise seeing how poor the models are (schassis owner) and it ruins the game. The evo model is so far off from the real one it hurts.

Or, you know, some of us have been around long enough to recognize a warning sign when it presents itself. Reusing inaccurate car models not for one game, but for multiple entries across nearly 20 years and three successive generations of gaming hardware is a worrying sign that Turn 10’s not putting in 100% across the board.

Already seen that. That’s FH5 vs real life. No info on the real life model. And honestly, it isnt that bad except for the length of the rear. What about GT7 or NFS?

Yeah its not awful besides the:

Hood, headlights, grill, front bumper, rear bunper, mirrors, A pillar, C pillar, front glass, roof line, rear wing, rear door glass, rear tail lights, and rear quarter all being completely off.

Buddy, I’ve been around since FM2 and have played every iteration of both FM and GT. GT Reuses models as well. These “old” models are smoothed out over time to reflect the latest console updates. If you are still playing on 720p, that is your own fault. I can 100% tell you the models have been updated over past releases.

I’ll give you all one thing which is maybe the exact specifications, but graphically I totally disagree.

If you all expect perfection, maybe go spend $3k on a PC and a LG C3 or better and pay for subsriptions to IRacing, or Assetto Corsa add ons.

This is a console racer with no community mods. I could easily say many things about GT7, but common sense knows better. GT7 is a great game. FM23 is going to be a great game. Both have both good and bad models and are unmatched by any other console simcade.

That’s your opinion. And my opinion is that your opinion is embelishing a little much.
