A question for the developers

,

I always wondered how is the workflow of adding a car to the games (or the series). Do you guys have a boss that tell you “today you will start working on this particular car, next is this other one” or is it more like “we have acquired licensing for this car by the manufacturer, you can start working to add it to the game”?
Is there a position inside the office that choose the cars from the Suggestions Hub? Or is it more like the manufacturer that tell you what car can be put in the game?

They press CTRL + C to copy car from previous title then CTRL + V to paste it into new title.

More than 10 years ago, I was part of 2-men modding Team. We were making mods/add-ons for NFS Shift 2 Unleashed… We were mostly converting FM4 cars…

So as we could only use 3d models and some of the textures, allot of other things were borrowed from existing game files, or made from scratch…

Physics for cars were also made from scratch…

I think we could finish a car in a 10 hours combined.

So with that knowledge, I think that experienced game developers can do it much faster.

Adding car from previous Forza titles is at most 30mins - 1 hour job…

On the other side adding new car, providing that they have custom tools on their disposal (which they surely have) is also not extremely long process. Having in mind it’s being done by multiple people team. And if managed correctly.

Bulk of the time is being spent on optimizing 3d scans.
I don’t know if in case of new car manufacturer provides 3d model. That would seem reasonable to me. But who knows.
But anyways if the team is set-up correctly, with optimized workflow und capable Management it shouldn’t be extremely time consuming.

But I doubt that there is many competent managers, higher of lower position, included in FM8 development.
That’s why we got this “game”…

And now the guy who was in charge of Turn10 is now in charge of the entire Xbox Game Studios…so expect any future games to be the same **** show this is. Im so close to turning my Xbox into a streaming device until it breaks and going to SONY only for consoles. Most my games are PC anyway. I dont need an Xbox or Game Pass Ultimate to play them. I currently have no confidence in Xbox at all, and very worrisome about all their aquisitions now

Adding from previous titles is nothing for them…the zip files are there in the media/cars/ location…if u unzip n compare one between fh4 n fh5 only some id number u will find different…otherwise the models are same in modelbin format, textures are same in swatchbin format n so on…they are literallly just the same folders…u will be sure from the car codes too…fh3 gmc syclone code is same in both fh4 n fh5…they just take a zip tweak some physics n add to new game…but some kinda auth key is there…once i get to know how to import i’ll add all gtp, lmps n others from fm into fh!!

Another Question. Is this Car made from Chris Esaki? I ask for a friend

If to mention audio here…

Could very well be. A couple of Forza Monthly ago Esaki said:

  • ooh, yeah, the audio team wanted me to mention…this and that…

This is rather condescending from Creative Director, I think, towards the audio team.

  • like Esaki was not fully onboard with the approach they took to apply different audio depending on upgrades installed, or something.

You can sense a little bit of conflict of interest there IMO.

  • and with deadline coming towards them in 180 kph stressed up teams

    this is esaki edition!

While OP has a cool question for the devs, I can only think how infuriating it is to know that between FM4 thru FM7 (and even the Horizon series) there are a whole bunch more cars/tracks just sitting in databases, already fully rendered, that could be running on tracks in FM8 now. It’s just bare bones until the $DLC$ arrives though.
