I participated in the Recreational Series on FH3, posting a time weekly. I’m a decent racer, but I’m not particularly keen on hardcore competition–I was satisfied with a peak position of 17th in Week 5. Like many of you, I had just about given up on receiving anything at all; however, I found an email sitting in my inbox this morning:
This implies that T10 is working on distributing the cars as well, although I haven’t booted my game to check. If they haven’t sent the cars out yet, then I would expect them to arrive over the coming weeks (considering the significant chasm between 175 and 40,000 usernames, I think it’s reasonable to give them a bit more time). I also believe it’s reasonable to conclude that the number of participants was higher than expected, but by how much is unclear. I’m not necessarily defending their perceived inaction, but it’s good to remember that T10 employees are only human. I would have preferred getting the prizes sooner, but, for lack of a better phrase, at least it’s better than nothing.
This is the quandary in a nutshell, is it not? The email address appears to be legitimate, but I have a few concerns. Firstly, I qualify for a “Season Pass,” so why would I need to hand over my address and phone number? It’s a digital code, isn’t it? Secondly, with regards to your three emails about three separate prizes:
Same, but I bet that part would only apply to the highest level prizes worth a couple hundred dollars.
I’m mainly skeptical because I don’t remember finishing higher than around 50th, but I wasn’t following it that closely. It would be nice to have a moderator or employee confirm this so we can know for sure.
Wait, so this is real? I got one this morning for the swag item but figured it was a scam. I mean our address and phone number are in our details for the Xbox account. They already have access to it so why ask for it again? I’m just too skeptical of it to respond at the moment.
It would be nice to have a moderator answer this, so see if it is legit. But the email is the same one Turn 10 has listed as to email to get support, so that’s good. And if it was a scam, why are they not “giving” us all the best prize, and everyone has different ones? Mine is correct, I ranked for the swag item, and that is what is listed. And on top of that, how did they get the records of who actually won if they are only accessible to Turn 10 at this point? But yes, Moderators, it would be nice if you could confirm for us.
That’s a logical counter, and I agree with you. My skepticism is directed towards the ambiguity in the rules, specifically this clause:
My main issue is with the statement “In addition, no player may win more than one prize per season.” Does this only apply to the final three weeks? Does the term “season” just refer to the last three weeks? And, if so, what was the purpose of including the last part at all? Obviously, certain people were already awarded prizes if I qualified for a Season Pass (5th-10th) with a #17 time in week 5. If someone consistently ranked first in Weeks 1-3, then would they receive three gaming seats? What’s the purpose of holding a competition if you can’t even follow your own rules?
Edit: Now that I’m at it, what happened to Week 4? The number 4 doesn’t appear once in the amendment I’ve quoted.
T10 doesn’t even try to communicate with people . They don’t think things like “what does this guy is gonna do with a steering wheel chair without an actual steering wheel?”…instead they basically ban week 1-4 winners from the competition because of a guy who was eligible for THREE Playseats . Geez , i am happy and disappointed at the same time .
It’s a dumb rule. I won the steering wheel and the playseat but i can’t get both probably . Instead they gave me a season pass…they should have done a thing like this : 1 playseat , 1 steering wheel , 1 season pass and 1 swag item per user. There are guys who will win both of course because i am the stupid guy who improved his pace later but my effort and time wasted are irrelevant it seems.
The stakes just got raised. Since this sounded legitimate with several of us getting the email the same day and it looking like it’s the official Forza email, I replied with the information requested a few days ago. Earlier today I got a text saying my Bank of America account has been suspended along with an account number, which I don’t have one. This could be a coincidence that I get a phishing scam so close to the same time, but I need a real answer. If anyone from the company that is aware of this being real could take 5 seconds to type “It’s real” you would put a lot of us at ease. Especially me since I don’t know if my identity was just stolen because of this. I’ve been a fan of the series and T10 for many years, but you guys seriously need to get your act together when it comes to communication with the community.
I was not involved in previous dlc code debacles. So to get our car pass code for FH3 what hoops do we need to jump through? I sent them my details even though they should not be needed for dlc codes.
Well, for the first season, we were left in the dark for months on end, some receiving them, most not. Days turn into weeks. Weeks turned into months, and still nothing. Had it not been for Mambusa over on the ESL forums, I doubt a lot of us would have received what was promised to us. Before that, contacting ESL about it we were told that it was T10/MS responsibility. Contacting them, we got told that it was ESL’s responsibility.
I would not consider mailing address and phone number personal information. Anyone can get that if they want to. Very easy. A scammer would have to have more than that. Besides even if your middle initial was missing it’s no longer personal information.
If the emails you have received have come from the forzafb@microsoft.com email then they are legit. Please respond if you have received one with the details required if you haven’t already
The list is embarassing . It shows people like “SPGP Bruno” listed 3 or 4 times in standings (week 7 too)…while my 4th place of week 6 is not there like it doesn’t exist . What a joke .
The Playseat didn’t come at my home yet and i am worried hearing that someone already received it’s prize .
