The July update for Forza Motorsport 7 arrives on July 10! This update includes new features and improvements to the game based on community feedback, as well as some exciting new content in our Porsche Spotlight Cars and the Top Gear Car Pack. The Porsche Spotlight Cars will be free to all Forza 7 players, and the Top Gear Car Pack is one of two additional car packs recently added to the Forza Motorsport 7 Car Pass.
July’s update is full of improvements across Forza Motorsport 7, and this update also kicks off several new development initiatives in the game that we will be releasing over the summer. All of this work is coming directly from our ongoing conversation with the Forza community and our goal to deliver an ever-improving game experience for fans. We’ll outline the major features and changes in the July update below; for a detailed look at the fixes and improvements coming to Forza Motorsport 7 with the July update, check out our Release Notes thread on the Forza Forums when they’re posted on Tuesday.
PORSCHE SPOTLIGHT CARS
- 1971 Porsche #23 917/20
- 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Unlocked Cars & Prize Crate Changes
Starting with this update we are making two important changes to how cars are obtained in Forza Motorsport 7. First, we are unlocking all “exclusive” cars in the game. Previously locked cars that were only available for completing certain events (or available in Specialty Dealer) will now be available to all players to purchase with in-game credits. As with any car in the game, players will still need to obtain the appropriate Car Collector Tier and have enough available in-game credits to purchase these cars. The July update unlocks more than 100 previously exclusive cars. Going forward, the only cars that will remain locked will be Forza Edition cars and unicorn cars that exist in the game. In addition to unlocking all cars, as of July 10, we will remove all car-related crates from Forza Motorsport 7 from the Prize Crates system. The crates that will remain in the game will contain only Driver Gear, Badges, and/or Mod Cards.
Other New Features
We’ve got some great performance and feature additions to Forza Motorsport 7 with the July update. First up, players will notice a much-improved performance in the car select screens. This change is a direct result of feedback from our multiplayer community; now, during multiplayer intermissions, players will be able to get to your cars quicker than ever before. In addition, we’ve given players another tool to combat griefing behavior by now allowing private lobby hosts to remove players from a lobby in the middle of a race. This update also includes an evolution of the Forza Motorsport 7 Message Center feature; with this update, we’ll be automatically hiding tabs in the Message Center that don’t contain content for the player. Look for more updates to Forza 7 Message Center in the future.Top Gear Car Pack
Seven amazing cars make up the Top Gear Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 7. From the latest masterpieces from Ferrari and McLaren, to ultra-light track weapons like the Vuhl 05RR and the Exomotive Exocet, this is a pack for those that love all the beautiful eccentricity the automotive universe has to offer. Turn 10 and Top Gear worked closely on the pack together, both in terms of choosing the cars available in the pack, and by working together on the awesome trailer. Check it out:If you’re a Forza Motorsport 7 Car Pass owner, the Top Gear Car Pack will be available to you at no additional charge; it’s one of two new packs we’ve added to the Car Pass. Look for more information on the other pack in the future.
JULY EVENTS
- Rivals featuring the Spotlight cars
- Leagues
- Forzathon
Well, let’s hope the visual glitches with the cars and Forzavista (blue bar?) are finally fixed. I just drove the RS6 in a race and when you select the cockpit view without the steering wheel, you have a hole where you can see the road. Yet this was posted in the visual glitches thread months ago much like other glitches have been.

I’m just hoping my game will stop crashing during league play. It did that after winning a league race yesterday, now my game wont even load at all. This Forza has really made me reconsider buying Ultimate editions. Its been buggy since day one. I dont want a refund, I just want a full product

And with that, only two missing cars in my Collection screen - the XR2 FE and the Raptor FE. Sweeeet
Thumbs up to the faster scrolling, as well!
Regarding the 924, I think these updates are coming by stages, aren’t they? I remember when SOY asked me to send the email, I sent all the info but it took two patches to iron out most of the bugs.
So it definitely seems that what we get monthly are “stable” builds and development is ongoing until considered “finished” by the team (which it’s not). Interesting.
Let’s hope the headlight bug is squashed with this update. I also hope
they give us the opportunity to earn the Gymkhana Driver’s gear instead of repeat cars & gears in Forzathon.
Looks like the update notes have been posted and a little bummer nothing that’s been complained about for the longest has yet to be fixed like the headlight bug smh.
The menus have become incredibly smooth since today’s update on my Xbox One (not S nor X). There is zero lag for me now. It feels very satisfying to go through my car list now and the frustration of trying to find a car, is gone. Thank you!

My game hasnt froze up during tuning in the online rooms yet either. They lock out the menu until the track is loaded. I guess that helps things. The timer still ticks down though
That 812 though…
The fixes, the July car pack, the free Porsches… dare I say this is one of the greatest Forza updates of all time? It’s like a fresh breath of life has been given to the game.
On a totally unrelated note, I finally unlocked the 5 pack of mods in the driver level up menu. So now I’m double the happy. Got lots of racing to do now.

I think I’ve still got a little ways to go on that regard, but I have finally cleaned out my backlog of stacked rewards cars. Had over 20 at one point, one of the main problems was that I started doing Leagues more often which meant that rewards were automatically banked so I’d often get a bunch of free ones held up behind a handful of $1m supercars like a dam wall. Spent every single one of my level-ups on the cars too, from memory I’m on level ~300 or so.
Is anyone with the car pass able to download the Top Gear pack for free? I haven’t been able to.

You don’t need to download it
It comes in the update and the cars should be put automatically into your garage
