Forza Veteran Feedback

Hello, been playing since Forza 1, first time posting. I’ve had Forza 7 for about two weeks now, mostly career and free play. Spend about as much time customizing/building as I do racing. This may seem like a complaint thread, but I’m loving my time with the game so far. These are just a few things that feel off to me.

  • Rewind often causes AI to wig out and crash. They always want to pull hard left turns when the race starts back up. I don’t remember this happening in previous Forza Titles, even in Horizon 3. This can ruin an entire race for me, especially since I only use rewind to fix mistakes like a dropped controller, or sudden puppy attack, not to get an advantage.
  • Everything seems overcast. Even the brightest day in the middle of the desert it always seems darker than it should. Maybe just me or my setup.
  • The garage is way too dim and there is no direct lighting on the car. This makes things like chrome wheels look black. Please adjust the position of the vehicle so that it is under direct lighting or allow us to change lighting.
  • Buying mods takes way too long. It feels like a chore, but a necessary one to get the most out of a race. Let me “subscribe” to a mod package to automatically buy more or something.
  • Really dislike the amount of restriction in the latest career mode. I want more opportunities to race the cars I want while progressing through a championship.
  • Nitpick: It feels like we’ve had very few universal parts added to customization over the years. I would buy a dedicated expansion devoted to new universal “Forza” brand visual parts and aero that could be applied to all vehicles.

That’s it. Otherwise I’m enjoying every minute so far.

That’s one of the reasons I have not completed a Forza SP campaign since FM4. I really like how you could use whatever car you wanted in FM4 SP. The game would adapt to the car you wanted to use.

I think they’ve found a good middle ground with the “Open” events in each Cup and the homologation. I thought I would hate FM5 because they made the career mode limited to specific car divisions and PI, but it actually made me look into new cars and types of cars that I never would have considered otherwise. I’m finding that FM7 is also forcing me to take a look at car types I normally wouldn’t be interested in.

My only request is that the Free Play should remember the settings you had the next time you open the Free Play menu. I always have to reset my settings each time I choose Free Play!

I often hotlap in freeplay (on Xbox one) when doing the weekly HLC’s. At the end of the race, I select restart - as will be running the same track again, possibly in a different car.

If I’m done for the night, will still select restart, then when the track loads up, back out with B.

This remembers all the settings I had selected for the next time I load up the game.

Hopefully that helps, certainly works for me.

Thanks a ton for this. I was irritated by that also.

Also, the original post on this is dead on the money with all points. I cannot elaborate.

I didn’t like the way it adapted the championship to the car I was using. I want to pick the championship and car to use in that championship. I too don’t like the homolgomation crap they have in this game. If the car isn’t powerful enough or don’t have the right parts I still want to race the car in the championship. I used to love the way I could bring a car into any championship and either dominate or lose the race.

Wow man nail on the head!!

I completely agree to the points on the overcast look of the tracks, dim garage, and the universal customization.

Probably the worst offenders in my opinion are daytime tracks being set early in the morning or really late in the afternoon. If I’m gonna race in the daytime, I want to actually see where I’m going without headlights.

The garage is a little dark, and it makes the game feel a little “meh” since I spend so much time there. I really do wish it was brighter or at least have another homespace like in other Forzas. FM4 had several great ones.

And with the universal aero, the ducktail spoilers and the splitters on the muscle cars are fine to me, but the wings and splitters on the other cars look flimsy. The tow hooks on the splitters also throw off the look of the cars in my opinion, too. I like the forza aero in the older forzas a little better, since the wings looked “beefier” and the supports on the splitters gave the car a more intimidating look.

Another tip - may seem initially to be counter intuitive but on this point;

Buying mods takes way too long. It feels like a chore, but a necessary one to get the most out of a race. Let me “subscribe” to a mod package to automatically buy more or something.

Once you have whatever the requisite number of driver suits is, at each level up you are offered a 5 card mod pack instead of the driver suit. I mostly took the cars until I had most of the available selection, then switched to the driver suits, now after a race I am given more cards than I can readily use to be fair as most of them have multiple race uses and depending on race length, can level up more than once per race.

You basically don’t have to ever buy a Mod crate again as you get better ones from this, than those in crates and at each level up.

I have been after this but the driver suits just never seem to end…

They will, I was a little surprised when mine changed as didn’t think I’d collected enough but I guess with the gifted ones we’ve picked up must have hit the required number earlier than I thought. It’s definitely worth it though.

The reason I’d said counter intuitive in my previous post was because I’d really had no interest in getting the suits before until I learnt about this. Now, whilst it is a hurdle to jump, it’s one worth pursuing as it’ll pay off in the end.
