Please use this thread for any discussion on the Forza Race Marshal program and leave the thread Max created for reporting time and lobby listings for marshals to investigate.
I love this Race Marshal idea. Custom CPL’s would alleviate the need for this but it is good to see them being proactive. Say you hit someone by mistake when one of those guys are in there? Happens to everyone. I generally send an apology to the person I’ve hit if I remember who it was. I don’t always know who it was however. Should we send a message to the race marshal that we made a mistake? I’m sure they don’t want to be flooded with messages. What is the protocol?
By the looks of it they just stay in a race until the race is over and save the replay then they will watch it later and take action. Most of the time they are not actually racing, but driving slow and off the line.
Surely something else gets done?.
A warning perhaps for 1st offence & with harsher punishments for serial offenders, otherwise they could just join another lobby & start giefing again.
Oh he got a warning alright and pulled the same stuff the very next race and quit before he was booted, and something tells me more may happen to him than just being kicked/quit from lobby.
Having marshals in the lobbies enforcng etiquette is good but I don’t see how posting time and lobby is going to accomplish much. It isn’t specific enough or timely enough to catch anyone. Which A Class lobby is the one having trouble, and it’s not like you can pick which one to join anyway. By the time anyone sees a post here, the race is going to be over and you have no idea who it is you’re supposed to be looking out for anyway.
Having marshalls in lobbies that can observe first-hand what’s going and dealing out swift justice is a good thing so more of them please. But I see B Class 2 pm as too vague to act on and will send people on a wild goose chase when what you need is more marshalls in the lobbies, or more snowowls watching replays.
I think the Snowowls watching replays gain better or more accurate results at determining bans for intentional ramming. I imagine there will be times that the Marshall’s make a wrong call and kick a person who maybe keeps making the same mistake at one corner or had an accident. I think the Marshall’s are a good idea though should work as a deterrent within lobbies.
i watched a rammer taking people out, after the second race of him doing it he was kicked from the lobby. in the past it would have been me that would have to leave in order to avoid that player. so far, in that one lobby with a marshal it worked
Really pleased some people from the community have been chosen to help clean the lobbys up. This a step in the right direction and I hope this is great success so more Marshalls can be asked to join the program. The only draw back I can see is numbers, I haven’t seen 1 in a lobby yet and I’m thinking it’s going to fairly hard to cover all the hoppers and the leagues. I think we will need at least 16 marshalls, thats 1 from each class. 9 from cest time zone and 9 from pdt time zone. That should give good coverage across the entire game.
I see someone has mentioned the marshalls not racing and staying off the line. This might cause more accidents so it’s probably best if they just carry on as normal. Triton would come join a lobby and if he wasn’t racing he would spectate. If he was racing he would save the replay and deal with it later if the incidents were not obvious.
I think the thread for reporting lobbys is not that helpful and out of date by the time marshalls read the thread. We need a system for reporting to marshalls that’s a bit quicker. I think the best way to tackle this is to message the marshall directly if they are online and ask them to join your lobby. Obviously this might not always be practicle and I can see the number of messages gettin out of hand. But until there is an official system coded into the game that takes care of all this then I think it’s the best option. What does everyone else think would be the best way to get information thats relevant to the marshalls
I think you’re right about this. its a shame there’s not some system that you can add a Flag to a lobby that need to be looked at so the marshals could float from one to the other. and messaging them might get a bit overwhelming for them if they are getting as many messages as I think they would get lol.
But like you said its definatly a step in the right direction ! #BanHammer2016
One thing I thought about is, how long does it take before a mod/marshal sees the posts made to ask for a marshal?
I mean they can’t watch that thread 24/7, would it be a good idea to report your own post in there?
A mod would need to tell us, if that’s OK or not before doing this.
Had a nice chat with a marshall a couple nights ago, they’ve got one hell of a task to clean up some players tactics but at least its being tried so they get my support 100%
Thanks for all your feedback to date and it’s good to see that this is getting a pretty positive response within the community. As Brian said in the WIR it’s just a small-scale pilot program to begin with, but early signs are very encouraging!
Someone asked earlier what happens to the people who get kicked, as that itself doesn’t seem like much of a deterrent. To answer that what happens is that all the race marshals feed their activity into a group document which I periodically review. Based on their recommendations and the evidence presented I then have the power to issue bans (temporary or permanent depending on severity) from multiplayer to the offenders. This has already been done on multiple occasions since the race marshal program was started last week.
