Forza Motorsport; Where I'm At, Where Forza Is And Trying To Get Back Into it

Hey guys,

Long time Forza Motorsport player here. I’ve played every Forza Motorsport game since the original. Hell, I even remember playing PGR2 online talking to people about Forza when it was first announced. The first game I played to death, loved it! Same with the second, the third and the forth. I think I even spent decent money on DLC Season Passes because I could warrant it with the time I spent playing. I wasn’t just playing though. I was having fun. I was competing. I was playing with friends that would chat.

Then Forza 5 came along and I played it. I played it quite a lot. I didn’t play it enough to warrant buying the DLC though. Friends moved on to other games so there was less chatting. This leads to less playing. Less playing leads to being less competitive, all of which is my own fault. I put my hands up, I know this. But the more I tried to play over time, the more I fell out of love. It wasn’t the gameplay. It wasn’t the people playing online. It wasn’t even the almost silent lobbies. It was the little “DLC” icons on the cars. I bought some of the packs, maybe a couple of them and it just about kept Forza 5 around about the top of my played games list.

And then Forza 6… To this day, I am level 36 offline and level 86 online. I’ve gone from thousands of hours to barely playing at all. But why? I cannot put it down to one thing, it’s a lot of little things that contribute, I think. My first biggest issue is the sheer amount of cars that are locked behind DLC. Every time I decide to try a new car, I come across something and think “Yeh, that” to then see it’s a DLC car. I appreciate that DLC is a thing but Forza seems extreme. There’s almost to higher of a ratio compared to standard cars. Other players is another issue. For example, you cannot race around Yas Marina without somebody cutting every single corner and that isn’t the way the game is supposed to be played. I also feel that the online multiplayer is too… segregated? Is that the right word? There are way too many different hoppers. Jump into a B class race and you’re lucky to have half a grid. Where is everyone?

All of that said, with Forza Motorsport 7 just around the corner, I have been trying to get back into it. The past couple of days, i’ve been playing and i’ve slowly been knocking more and more assists off. I can just about keep up with the pack. I’m slowly relearning the braking points and distances. I’m slowly starting to have fun again. Just this morning, I ended up in a lobby with one other guy on the Behemoth Nordschliefe in the rain. Did he just race off? Nope! We both raced until one of us made a mistake. Then we’d slow down, let the other catch up and then race on (Thank you AdjacentHat if you’re on here)

So, down to the main point. Does anyone have any room on their Friends list for someone just trying to get back into the game? I usually play the hoppers around A - C class although i’d be up for learning to play the higher hoppers. Im from the UK so people that play in our evening timezone would be a bonus. Ideally people a little more… grown up!

I didn’t plan on typing half of this so i’ll just leave it here… Thanks for reading a load of dribble though!
