I made the move a little over two years ago from being a longtime console-only player (had been on board Team Xbox since day 1), to now gaming exclusively on PC, and I honestly haven’t regretted it at all. My rig is nothing special…it’s been Frankenstein’ed together out of an old server. I upgraded the CPU to the best the MB will allow (3.3 Ghz 6-core Xeon), upgraded the power supply, added a couple of SSDs, and a modest amount of RAM. The most expensive upgrade was (unsurprisingly) the video card - I chose an RX 6600, which set me back a little over $200, which in the grand scheme of things, is an absolute bargain. All in, I probably dropped 7 or $800 for everything. So a fair bit more expensive than a current-gen console, but for me the advantages are totally worth it.
I have access to a much wider pool of racing games (and compatible peripherals!), and by keeping PC Game Pass, I still have access to that whole library. I can even pick up the big Sony releases like Spiderman or God of War.
If you’re already thinking about ponying up for a PS5, it’s definitely worth considering saving up a bit more for a decent PC instead, especially if you’re like me and racing games consume the majority of your playtime.
I didnt say it did, but thats the only thing that occurred that day which someone mentioned on reddit i believe about this same topic. Its a strange coincidence, maybe they thought if people heard it was nominated they might go check it out, a little boost of positive reviews would make it seem as though something was fixed.
Assetto Corsa is pretty incredible with the ‘content manager’ mod manager to help you get it customised to your liking- check out the new LFM content on youtube it just launched.
I say the same whenever I see Gran Turismo 7. Looks like they have a fantastic track list, amazing car models, and good customization.
Granted, I haven’t played GT7, as I don’t own a PS5, but it sure does look pretty good compared to the current state of FMhate. It seems like the devs of that game actually care about it and are passionate about cars, motorsports, and the games they make. Something that can’t be said about Turn 10 right now.
To add a note to the final minutes of the video read the link below:
Whomever is currently driving this franchise into the ground, in a glitched out car, should take a step back and think before they act before there are real ramifications coming their way
I watched this video as well and agree with almost all his points.
His mentioning about the game, having to be scrapped 3 to 4 years into development, resulting in what we ended up with really struck with me. It feels like that’s exactly what has happened, but no one T10 Or Microsoft is being transparent enough to admit it. I can’t help, but think if they did admit it, there might be a lot more sympathy from the community.
A lot of what we see in the game does feel half baked and some of these schoolboy errors With wrong badges on cars and things that feel like they were just never gameplay tested 10 to support the theory that this was a game that hasn’t been through six years of development at all.
It’s left me feeling a little bit robbed about the game that we should’ve gotten. I really love the Forza franchise, even if it’s not perfect, but I just don’t feel like we were given the game we were told we were getting or even the one we were shown.
They could still make it work… Dolphins evolved backwards… They came onto land and went “yo, this is whack” and went back to the sea and they seem to be alright
Wow, this is an interesting read. You’re right, they really do need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture and possible consequences for this. Is it really worth creating potentially illegal fake reviews just to bump up ratings for your game, whose reputation has already been destroyed?
It’s quite possible. Their Dev Lead Manager for example was switched out not even two years ago and you normally don’t do a change like that during the development for no good reason.
Not from me.
Whatever their situation was, nothing could vindicate them for how they chose to handle it.
It’s too late now for any admissions to garner any sympathy.
The only proper response to launching in such awful condition would have been an all-out, all-hands-on-deck blitz to hit the ground running on day one, constantly pushing out fixes & new features & new content right out of the gate to show that they mean business with their new “more agile code base” & “evolving platform” they bragged about…
…but they didn’t.
Instead, they just hit the snooze button & rolled over to go back to sleep.
“…*yawn* um, yeah, new track next month guys - oh, & probably Nordschleife next year I guess… zzz…”
