I still haven’t pre-ordered yet.
It’s all or nothing for me. I either jump on day 1 with the premium edition or I won’t even bother with that franchise any longer.
Still need detailed answers to those questions:
Can I disable the race engineer completely, who seems to be in races talking to you now. (Most important one. I absolutely don’t want that.)
Can I disable any other repetitive pop up/audio like the one in FM7, who is trying to get me into the car dealer shop every single week for 6 years now. Highly annoying.
Can I disable any kind of “good/perfect corner”, “good lap”, “perfect line” pop up stuff including that white line on asphalt, wich seems to be “zoning” corners now.
I know, very negative.
But if I jump on that game, chances I play this for many years very frequently is very likely and I absolutely don’t need annoying stuff like that.
It’s just simple, keep this stuff in for those who want it and give Kimi Räikkönen-people like me, who don’t need extra motivation and just want to race options to disable that stuff, problem solved.
If anyone has those infos for me it would be very appreciated. Developers, mods, anyone who can confirm this.
I can deal with some bugs at release, but not with annoying stuff like this, not again.
The Monthly followed by all the hands on previews.
Gonna be a busy day getting through it all and looking for the finer details.
That, and we’re now 24 days from launch!
Unfortunate that I’ve still made SFA progress in Starfield as I continue to be distracted by all the non-story content. Better get moving on it so I’m free to plough time into FM at launch.
No, I know that. I’m saying YouTubers are allowed to post Forza content on the 11th. Does that mean at midnight according to their time zones, or after the Forza Monthly goes live?
Dan Greenawalt and Chris Esaki talk about the vision for Forza Motorsport, and show off the initial experience you’ll drive when you start up the game.
Hoping it’s not all just silent gameplay, I feel like you learn more from hearing detailed explanations about various key components than just watching a race or two. that they’re gonna give details on Freeplay!
*edit #1: was hoping we’d see cheapo cars for starter cars, like the Dodge Dart and Nissan Sentra in the game, but I’ll gladly take a Mustang
*edit #2: Glad Esaki’s talking now!
*edit #3: Didn’t really tell us anything new, but I can tell they’re very excited.
So far, while he says controller feel is improved, steering wheel feel sucks if you don’t spend a lot of time tuning it. Also, the physics aren’t as improved as Turn 10 claims. Will update this post as the video goes on.
TCS and STM have a Sport mode that limits their effect, but there is still no incrementally-adjustable option for those or ABS, like in GT7.
FRR…needs work. Penalties too soft, and although he notes that Turn 10 seems to have tinkered with collisions so that the collider feels it worse than the collidee, he could still cause significant impacts and not draw much of a penalty for it.
Direct quote from HokiHoshi regarding the CarPG system: “The goal of these systems is to create a feeling of bonding with and growing with and building each unique car as you would with a real car. It does not work that way. This system makes no sense.” He recommends major changes to the system, either going by category or tying car levels to driver levels, or just outright abandoning the system and having everything unlocked from the jump.
The AI is mixed - the top drivers are faster and make you work for positions, but the back half are just as bad as previous games. All AI still seem to drive stiffly and brake too early for corners. Hoki says that Turn 10 claims this is an early build and things have been tuned to be better. (We’ll see.)
No new features revealed, no questions answered, no Free Play discussed
But the press is giving their first impressions so I don’t mind
However, Chris Esaki said two interesting things:
“We’re just around the corner from announcing some additional tracks that are coming.”
“A note on why we rebuilt all our tracks in Forza Motorsport: When we developed the new tire model and suspension modeling, our cars would often porpoise (rise and fall repeatedly) on the existing tracks. The new physics advancements meant there was no way to re-use the previous track assets. We had to rebuild every track in the game to handle the new physics”
The second point was transcribed in a new article at forza.net:
I watched on Twitch, there was no lag.
Looked very smooth.
I’m very confused about what was shown.
There was no talking within the race, despite it was advertised that way, wich is confusing, but a positive surprise. There was only talking in that tutorial race, wich is ok.
And that unnecessary cheering at the end of the race, wich I still hope can be switched off. Terrible game design.
I also hope we can blend out that awful pit entry symbol, wich is just…out of place.
Same for the white line between the cones in practice. Not necessary.
But I get it. Its there for new players. Just please make it optional.
The cones themselves are already a good indication for the sectors and not so out of place just like the pit entry symbol.
I prefer a more immersive experience.
And those pop ups within a race are just ridiculous.
It distracts too much from racing.
Isn’t there a results screen at the end? Why does this all have to pop up within the race?
Who cares in the middle of the race that his car level goes up?
I get the idea and how it works, but an option to blend that out (but not the function) would be good.
I mean, over time, when you “work” on your 53rd car getting it to level 50 in year 2 or something I guarantee it will become annoying at some point.
The show itself was weird.
Why they just not make a big Q&A by going down all the questions asked in the forum is beyond me.
I don’t wanna watch some YouTube-kid, who is throwing his opinion I don’t care about right towards me. I just need a few answers and still didn’t got them.
Though on the positive side: Great graphics, stunning engine sounds and cool tracks.
On the gameplay side of things I’m fine.
We get lots of cars and tracks after launch, there mentioning of the “Nordschleife-gate” was cute. Still disappointing, but I personally get it and I’m fine with that.
Still need answers before I pre-oder and I still don’t have them.
what makes HoshiKoshi an expert on the topic? nothing, he is just giving his opinion.
yet you blindly agree with him and doubt everything the devs say.
biased.
Simple. He’s someone who actually has time on the game and doesn’t have official orders to talk this game up like it’s the Second Coming of Jesus. Until 10/10 comes and I can try this game myself, I’m going to take the word of someone as close to my position of customer as possible over the word of someone who desperately needs me to buy their stuff.
Honestly. I watched the same video as him and Clutch took everything Hoki said in the most pessimistic and negative way possible. Hoki clearly enjoyed his time & listed SO many positives (but of course had some slight annoyances & preferences too). Dude just seems like he wants to hate on the new Forza no matter what is said
