Its not allowed to start such a threwad here. Even if it is the truth, they get after you.
Must be an xbox exclusive issue. I run it on PC and have no issue with the HDR.
PC would be worse with how it handles HDR. That silly overlay thing that MS does so it can do its fancy HDR on everything trick just didn’t work when I had a PC. Had the PC and series X at the same time on an older OLED ( LG C1 ) and I had to do all sorts of weird nonsense to get it to look as good as the Xbox did.
Afraid I don’t believe what you say there either. Xbox and MS in general just do not handle HDR well.
I record videos in 4k HDR, and it all looks as it should.
Headlights are blinding, black spots are 100% black. That’s really the entire purpose of HDR, plus all the vibrant colors that come from increased range.
Nope. Black levels are way off. The lighting is too hot ( which happens when black levels aren’t right ). I see plenty of banding. Colors are washed ( another side effect of raised black levels ). This isn’t right.
Then you probably aren’t watching it in HDR.
Oh boy. I’m watching it on a Mac cinema display which is HDR1000. I think we’re done here.
Then your display is messed up, idk what to tell ya.
Oh I know. That cinema display is IPS lmao. Cannot display true black.
Er. Not cinema display. It’s a 6k retina studio display. >> Pro Display XDR - Apple
That was my bad. Definitely not IPS.
Hate to be that guy.
But that is an IPS display. It is not OLED.
Eh. Fair enough. It’s not a cheap display and it does get very close to OLED level blacks. I’m not gonna watch that vid on my G3. What I can tell is that your black levels are raised in that recording. Take it or leave it.
Yeah, no. The black level is 0. On my display (which can display true black levels) the pixels are OFF. IPS is not capable of true black levels (:
Just checked on my G3. Nope. Raised.
Then your G3 brightness/contrast is off.
Gota question fellas. Sometime ago I was doing some screen recording and when I play the video the colors just look rainbowy if that makes sense.
Recording the screen how?
Using the Xbox share function
If the image looks splotchy then it’s recording with a low bitrate. I don’t think there’s much you can do about it.
That is what I’m talking about. Xbox and MS in general handle HDR poorly. There is waaaay more banding and nonsense on my Xbox than there is on my PS5. I have to set black levels about 20pts lower to match PS5 output.
If I do a recording again I’ll share and see what yall think. Had my tv setup by Samsung came to they house and did everything. It wasn’t like that on previous updates.
