The game looks it’s best at night when it’s raining
Agreed, GT’s cyberpunk color is very unreal. The light pursuit and lighting material of FM2023 allows the picture to remain realistic, bland when it should be, and fully dynamic light and shadow and strong contrast of light and shade under artificial light sources at night.
Some things about graphics lighting is still off.
Look at how rear is almost satin while a lot of sides and rear bumper is gloss gloss gloss.
Saw a lot of this on opponent cars as well, a red car i middle of video with hood camera looked completely off.
Other sections with chase camera the rear despite being less light show reflections, but not shown as gloss as this silver metallic would do.
Something with lighting model to work on still. When graphics decide it’s gloss it’s overly so and the rest looks plain.
I suspect something to do with priority and analysis which surfaces get rt and which not.
But overall seems the game is getting better for people which is nice.
My unending mission to fight against the gaslighting that PGG is somehow way better than T10 as devs and that Horizon is just so much a better game.
Horizon didnt have convoy waypoints in the launch of 5 until 5 months later. Nearly an advertised feature thats been in every game since 3. or 2, or maybe even 1 depending on how you count it. 5 just didnt have it, the waypoints just broke when you got into a convoy. Horizon had its own laundry list scrolling text document of issues on its launch as well. T10 looked like the more competent team when that game launched. People were debating on whether T10 should just take over the Horizon series, as it seemed PGG had just become incredibly lazy and laxed with the way they iterated on the entries.
Oh, what a difference a year makes. I’m one of Horizon 5’s harshest critics, and even I can see that it and PGG are currently in a better position than Turn 10 and Motorsport are.
FH5 launch was OK. Yeah it had issues and many things were missing, but technically it kind of worked, yet they managed to make things worse with first few updates. If I remember correctly, early December was the low point for FH5. Even content creators publicly stated their criticisms towards the game (for FM that happened within first weeks). In the upcoming months things got better and by now (after some staff changes at PGG) it’s pretty good. Although I’m not a fan of the route Horizon has chosen to take, they are good at what they are doing.
FM launched a month earlier compared to FH5 and by now things should be getting better, but head honchos of T10 haven’t even (publicly) acknowledged the poor state of their latest product. They haven’t even showed their faces on official T10 streams.
My opinion of T10 got a major hit after FM7 launched and I wouldn’t have wished for them to take over Horizon series. In retrospect FM7 is a good product compared to FM. It shows how things change over time and puts them into perspective.
I agree with the OP,the game looks quite good at 4k and high/ultra settings.Anything less and the visual fidelity drops off a cliff. This game ‘requires’ high end hardware to get it to look acceptable, that’s all there is to it.Since I put together a high/ultra rig just for this games release,I’m not suffering from poor graphics, just poor design choices.
I agree with the OP too, same here. I play on PC at 2k with high/ultra settings and ray tracing enabled on medium and the game has beautiful graphics, certainly the best of any racing game on PC. As for bugs and other problems, that’s another matter. I play at a constant 72 fps which makes the game more fluid than 60. Not more because the game then stutters cause the bottleneck of the CPU stuck at 4 cores without multithreading.
The FH5 launch was a nightmare. Online was completely broken. Any server session would disconnect within 2 or 3 minutes. Made it impossible to complete any of the Forza Arcade events, and you never could maintain a session with a consistent set of players. No NPC traffic on the roads in freeroam. Rainbow texture artifacts regularly appeared. And there were numerous other problems. They did drop a fix in December that allowed Forza Arcade events to be completed solo, then everybody disappeared for six weeks. Most of the problems have been fixed now, but it was a good six months before the game was in a state where it was fit for release.
I guess different people, different experiences. As you said MP was like it was, but SP was there, unlike FM that has a joke as a career mode, and I can’t recall any major technical issues at launch (later I did have some game breaking issues). Didn’t they break Arcade after on of the first updates? Maybe not.
FH4 probably had the smoothest launch out of more recent Forza games.
FM is, hands down, the worst launch experience I have had. I remember FH3 had a very rough start on PC, but this new one even trumps that.
I had every issue with FH5 that people said FH4 had. Where FH4 was an issue free experience for me at launch. My profile has reset twice in FH5 due to cloud sync corruptions. The first month of FH5 I basically couldnt play anyway because of constant CTDs and just failing to load from the main menu.
And when I actually could play, the game ran so stuttery and poorly it made me nauseous. A truly miserable experience.
We’ve gotten to the point of “at least it runs stable most of the time” is as good as any other bulletpoint on the game features.
In what year, 1982? While competing against text based games being put out by infocom? ![]()
" Forza is the best racing game with graphics!"
I’ve Never Laughed so Hard you must be Joking do you need your Eyes checked or someone to do a Reality check with a explanation as to why why it looks like it was made on Windows XP forza Motorsport 3 & 4 puts this Game to Shame this Game is an Eye Sore especially motion Blur & GT7 looks more premium than forza motorsport & but doesn’t excuse the Eye sore we want a full explanation of an apology from the creative directors on YouTube as to what happened & i am joking about the forza 3 & 4 I’m not the only one the game is an eye sore i have played every forza motorsport & horizon
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.
Sad, but true.
The subjective graphics thing is real. But in this case with all due respect I think you should have your eyes checked if you say that Forza Motorsport 3 -4 is better graphically or maybe it was a joke, or maybe because you hate this game.! I don’t have any eye pain, perhaps I’ve set the lighting and colors well. I honestly don’t know what game you’re playing!
So? Ok, right the cars got a minor graphics update, and then what? all the rest. Too little to show just a few cars, I’m sorry the graphics are also something else. You have to watch everything
