I don’t have the GPU to get awesome clarity out of FM23 so, I have to cheat and use Nvidia’s filters (or Reshade). What I find odd is, if these 3rd party post processing methods can get much better results out of the game, then why can’t the same be achieved without buying a $1700+ GPU?
I’m on a 4090, and the graphics for me are blurry as hell on max settings minus ray tracing. I ended up using Nvidia filters too, to sharpen it. My understanding the blurriness might be related to bring on a 1080 screen (triples), but why? FH5 looks absolutely gorgeous on max settings and runs beautifully.
I can’t call it. Other games I have look incredible on my setup too. I am also running triple 1080 screens. I just have a 3080 and to be honest, FM23 and AC Evo are the only titles where my 3080 shows signs of being out of breath. I can understand AC Evo’s problematic FPS, being an early access game but, FM23… I don’t get it. A lot of my issues would be more tolerable if the FPS was at least stable. If I could get a locked 82 when running 60 Vsync, that would be great.
And the funny thing is when sharpened up, I kind of like the look of FM23. It looks like old TV footage with the over bloomed bright colors, and how the red of the brake lights are fighting against the heightened contrast. But when the framerates can’t stay steady, it knocks me out of that bit of immersion. Nothing worse than flying down the start/finish at Suzuka and feeling like I’m watching onboard footage, only for micro stutters to kill the vibe once I start turning.
I know I switched to how the game runs, and not how sharp it is. Sorry about that. The FPS and the blurriness do go hand in hand though. Using the filters, it shows that the visuals can be a lot better. I don’t believe Reshade is doing anything that would need Nvidia’s tensor cores. If I had to guess, sharpening with Reshade is applying an additional Anti-aliasing pass over what’s on screen. If the game can be post-processed into that, then I wonder what would happen if Turn 10 added more Anti-Aliasing options?
Adding post-processing does cause a FPS hit. Sometimes it’s pretty severe. If I run RTGI and use sharpening of any sort, I will get 30FPS. Even if I try to trick the game into running higher FPS by using DLSS Performance. If I run above Car reflections with RTAO, I will be asking for sub 60FPS so, it’s best to leave all RT off unless I am taking a photo.
Also, TAA and DLSS off, with the game set to 200%, something I can pull off at 1920x1080, looks pretty darn good. I’d love to see what the game would look like with native MSAA.
Many games would be like this. What matters is how it looks when being played.
Everything stuttering related comes from CPU in this game believe me.
I had a 3080 before and now have a 5090 and the stuttering is still exactly the same, because I still use exactly the same CPU like before.
I am pretty sure it will run almost flawless with a 9800x3d or 9950x3d. You wouldn’t be able to increase settings if you replace your CPU but you would probably get an almost stutter free experience. If I remember correctly you have a 5800x3d or something. So you have to replace MB and RAM too if you want a better CPU, just like me with my 5950x. I will get a 9950x3d at some point, but I can’t afford one now. I already spend much money for that 5090 (3352€) I feel ashamed lol for paying that much money for a single GPU but hey it’s so awesome to play games now. In a half year or something I replace CPU, MB and RAM.
And I think FM23 would look a bit like FH5 does with 8x MSAA. I love the way it looks maxed out in 4K with 8x MSAA, it so super smooth and looks nice. There is basicly zero ghosting it looks so clean.
Unfortunately we are forced to use ta (or any other ta solutions like dlss/FRS), what introduces ghosting, but u can significantly reduce ghosting by increasing frame rate.
On my PC (7800x3d + Rx7900xtx) game runs rly well with 100fps on ultra preset with rt off (who needs it…) on 5120x1440 resolution w/o any upscallers.
The paradox of ray tracing in this game, it’s that it makes game look worse because it significantly reduces frame rate (even on high end ngreedia GPUs), and with reduced frame rate u have much worse ghosting effects from ta/dlss/frs in this type of high paced game, and also reduces quality of reflection because reflection rate on the cars = 1/2 frame rate even on max settings.
HOLY CRAP JD, that’s $5,183 Canadian dollars, wow, that’s robbery plain and simple. 5 grand for a gpu ROFL.
Honestly, going MB, CPU and ram is a more tolerable upgrade than tossing a full paycheck at Ngreedia. (I like that one Mr. Whoville). It will make the eventual switch from Nvidia and their unbridled greed to the Radeon and their unbridled ineptitude a little better. Thanks for the tip. I was wanting a new build for a couple of months now.
Kaylos, dont, I repeat, Do not use Nvidia filters, they are crap and most of the times does not work. I use Reshade, you only need two plugins from reshade, AMD Sharpening and Vibrance.
This is a stock photo, completely unedited, that’s how my game looks with the plugin.
Nvidia filter worked quite well for me. I’ve had no performance hit, though I’m locked at 82.5 fps. I have reshade (didn’t like the cartoonish saturation of AMS2), but hadn’t used it for Forza yet.
Yup. Reshade does get good results. If it didn’t go bork with every update, I would have stuck with it. But since I had to remove and reinstall every month, I went back to Nvidia’s filters.
Re-tried Reshade… This isn’t the most flattering image, but this is what I see while playing…
And a screen grab from Photomode looks like this in Reshade…
I like this 3 monitors setup of yours it’s so superwide. I am still using a single 4K 16:9 TV. Maybe I get myself a Ultrawide TV at some point.
I think the official price for the GPU I have is 2749€ it’s an ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 5090 OC. Other ppl even paid 4000€ I saw that halfway decent (YES HALFWAY DECENT) offer on “Caseking” and just bought it. I would have wasted so many hours of my life just looking for a decent price and I didn’t want to waste so much time anymore. The 3352€ that I bought it for was somehow “okayish” because else I only saw offerings with 4000€+ and some ppl bought it for that price. I said myself I would limit it to 3200€ but then just bought it for a bit more. I mean at price ranges of 3000€+ another 150 bucks aren’t a big deal anymore.
In general I think I did a good purchase compared to what others were willing to pay. Yes it’s crazy to pay that much money for a single computer part, but it was still “okayish” compared to what others were willing to pay for it.
That GPU is so awesome, I won’t have to worry about anything for like 5-8 years. Thanks to DLSS4 I can just create more FPS, even if the game runs bad. This takes a lot of load off the CPU and that is what makes it longer lasting. Yes it’s crazy and expensive, but I don’t have to worry anymore for quite some time.
I can play Cyberpunk 2077 all maxed out and it looks like, I can’t even find words for it. It’s so super awesome. It’s graphics that are so awesome that I could drool because of it. I mean seriously it looks sooooooooooo aweeeeesooooooomeee.
In all these years of gaming, I never seen anything like it.
I can set texture res to 200% in FM23, I basicly play the game in 8K. The clarity of the picture is so freaking extreme. But I get FPS drops down to like 71 FPS sometimes, but it’s worst case if I have the maximum amount of stuff on screen. For whatever reason it drops to 71 for a half second or something on the final 2 last corners on Indianapolis (Full Track) whatever it’s called. But usually it’s 95% of the time the limit I set and that is 110 FPS. Because of G-Sync, I have to set it a bit lower, to be able to play without tearing without V-Sync.
I think the crowds that watch the races are the problem, for whatever reason they cost a lot of CPU and GPU power. I mean they just stand there and play their stupid animations of cheering etc. but it somehow costs a lot of computing power. I wish we could just set the crowds to minimum like in other games. In Cyberpunk 2077 I can set crowds to medium or low if I want to, there also is a slider for it in GTA V/Online. But there isn’t in FM23. The game really needs that option.
I created a topic:
Since FM doesn’t fully support triples, an ultra wide would probably be the best option for FM. It wouldn’t cause the memory demand to skyrocket, and you’d be able to look into the corners while turning. Also, running a much lower FOV will slow things down, and make it easier to hit your points (in cockpit driver or hood view).
I got triples due to its compatibility with other racing titles. It would be very difficult for me to play those games without triples.
Would love to be able to disable the crowd (and a lot of trackside animations). +1 on your topic.
I know its frowned upon to talk about other games but, something I am seeing (on my Youtube feed) with AC, is ultra realistic graphics and post processing. What they show on the videos are very impressive. My issue is, when I do it, my results are way off from what the YouTubers claim. Then that got me thinking, what if FM23 got that level of attention with post processing efforts? The game at least flirts with the uncanny valley without needing shader mods so, with the right Reshade or Nvidia game filtering, the game could possibly look amazing at all times…
Its just a random thought but, one that has me itching to install film grain into my Reshade suite. LOL

It’s all mod based there after all, weather, rain, light filters, etc. Maybe you’re doing something wrong?) Many have in their descriptions what things they used to get their results, many even post their settings. Lots of people sell ready made presets on patreon etc. But it’s funny that a game that is over 10 years old, and supported by third-party community developers, manages to look like this:
That could be the case on my end. I don’t re-gather mods I already have and often cannot get the same results. But for Forza, with post processing the game goes from this
To
Granted this is mild, and I did not explore what is possible with post processing filters but, for me; it makes a huge difference in how the game is presented. And that is admitting that I still have to continue tweaking the sharpening, it’s too intense.
I think it’s worth it to at least share what we are doing, to make some improvements with the visuals.
I use Reshade too, try the different sharpening filters, some are very sharp while some others make a smaller difference. I suggest you try our the dpx filter too m8, it makes the game look really good.
I don’t think I grabbed the suite with the DPX filter in it…
I’ll look for it and try and add that suite if I don’t have it. I only got the SweetFX suite.
I’ll look and see which suite it is in if you dont beat me to it! EDIT: It’s in the sweetfx by seejay.dk suite, I always use it on newer games, kinda looks like a hdr filter and makes games pop. I am using reshade 6.3.1 btw…
