Forza Interact-able Houses

Hey!
I honestly have no clue if this is the best place to submit feedback/ideas for the next Forza Motorsport (8), but I figured I’d give it a shot.

So I’ve been an avid fan of Forza ever since the very first game. Owned and played every game, gotten the expansion packs, dlc, etc. I will always love Forza and always recommend it to my friends and such.

That being said, I have a couple of ideas as to how to make it better.

First off, I think that Horizon 3 finally did something very right with the addition of houses. This is a feature I have wanted literally for years and years now. I think the idea of having houses in Forza is amazing, and definitely should be built on.

What I mean by that is, Test Drive Unlimited, Project Gotham Racing, and even Grand Theft Auto all have far more in depth housing in their games. I would absolutely love to see Forza adopt these ideas and have houses that the player can actually:

  1. Walk around in
  2. Possibly customize
  3. Go to garage
  4. Re-organize cars in garage

Why do I think something as simple as in depth houses is so necessary for a racing game franchise? Because, in my opinion, its not all just about the racing. Obviously we all play the game for the thrill of adrenaline pumping love of speed that most of us can not replicate in real life. However the other reason I believe games like Forza are so popular is simply because it allows us players to fantasize over a reality we dream of having. Having supercar posters on the walls of our bedrooms, to now thanks to technology being able to visualize the exact car of our dreams, customized to our liking, and be able to sit in it and explore it in autovista mode… all amazing progress. I truly think the next key step in being able to expand on this idea of Forza being a simulator for our dreams is to have us be able to purchase different houses, be able to customize them slightly, and most importantly be able to walk around a garage in them with all of our cars organized how we would like.

Project Gotham Racing, Test Drive Unlimited, and GTA 5 all do this very well, and I think itd be a cool feature that would really push Forza beyond how amazing it already is.

On top of this feature would be the idea of driving to different car dealerships, walking inside and seeing the cars they have for sale (Like a Lamborghini dealership with a new Aventador, Huracan, etc.). I really don’t mean to simply steal ideas from other racing games, but Test Drive Unlimited did this perfectly I feel. Maybe Turn 10 can find a creative way to put their own spin on this.

The only other two pieces of ideas/feedback I have are pretty straightforward, one being that I feel like the past few Forza’s have been a bit too easy to gain credits in, and the other being the customization.

I know plenty of fans would love to be able to hop into a new Forza game and afford to buy their dream car immediately, and I guess I can see where they’re coming from, but for me personally I like to earn my cars. I’m not saying make it the most patient grind possible, but just make me feel like I worked for and earned my cars, not to have 100 cars in my garage after only the first week of playing (This happened to my friends and I in Horizon 4 lol).

The other piece of feedback is just that I think the customization needs to be revamped a bit. For the most part, upgrading and customizing cars has been the same since I think it was Forza Motorsport 3? I mean there’s nothing wrong with it really, I guess don’t change it if it doesn’t need fixing, but I just think some new customization parts, maybe interior customization, or some other minor additions could go a long way.

All in all I truly believe Forza Motorsport and Horizon are some of the best game franchises, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for future games. These are just some of my ideas on how they could move forward, mostly from adding more of a sense of real life dreaming to the game

P.S. One super minor feature I remember from an old Gran Turismo game I loved was the fact that cars over use would actually wear down their oil, and would require an oil change here and there to be brought back to tip top shape. Always thought that was a cool feature that made everything seem that much more real.

They mentioned early on that they’d considered making the houses something that you could walk around in, but in the end decided that it was a driving game, and decided to focus on that. In truth, I think it would have just added more development time that they didn’t have to spend on the project. But it would be cool to be able to do that. My wife doesn’t play, but when she saw the houses, she said the same thing, and maybe might be interested in playing, if she only had that option. She’s been really into “Escape to the Country” lately, so it’s relevant to her interests. She might take more notice if she could get a look inside some of these houses.

A garage or dealership like you describe might be a bit tricky, given the sheer amount of cars in the game, or in the average player’s garage. There would have to be some mechanism to spawn them off screen, and cycle them in and out.

But in general, I think any opportunity to get out of the car, walk around, converse with other players, like at the autoshow, or a car meet, or something like that, would be a nice addition. If not in this game, then maybe in the next one.

The houses in Forza seemed to be a great idea, but in fact it’s just a way to unlock perks and new spawn locations. I spent hours in GTAV finding the best location, the best view, organizing my garages, but I’m nowhere near to do so in Forza. There is really something to add in Forza to reach the goal.
It’s the same for the clothes : I spent countless hours in the clothing shops in GTAV, but it’s completely lame in Forza. Please bring the clothes from Motorsport 7 to Horizon 4, at least they are related to driving.

Well I would like to be able to take a photo of multiple cars, so a Garage would be good for that.

Combine Test Drive Unlimited 2 with Forza Horizon 4 and boom…best open world racing game ever (other than Underground 2 obviously )

Houses in TDU sort of got it into uncanny valley for me. I get what they tried to achieve but I think it’s good how it’s in Forza now.

I also feel that FH4 suffers from too many distractions all ready. Skill points have their own economy, getting wheelspins (to unlock wheelspin exclusives) are is quite a bit in it’s own realm too. Forza points I think is intentional but it’s repetive and there is actually only one car in the game left that I want.

It’s great that there are possibilities for upgrading cars and tuning them. Car livery creators have pretty much created a scene, which is okay.

I think whatever happened with Skill Point system, in the end Skill Point economy is messed up. Technically when players are grinding those points, it’s driving, but it’s not trying Super Car or even tuned VW bug on race. It’s not creating CV2 or Aston Martin Off Road vehicle to try on tracks.

Wheelspins have been quite good for me, I get clothes, but worse is getting lot’s of useless cars I already have, that everybody have and nobody want. They are all null draws because unlocked clothes get replaced with small credit rewards and in the long run even 2000 credits is better than cars nobody is willing to buy. They are zero in the long run. Forzathon points… there has been some nice events but ultimately I don’t feel skill points, wheelspin harvesting, and Forzathon system really work very well as whole. Going by the current mind set of developers, next logical set for upgrading they game house system would be furniture, which could be locked in wheelspins. I don’t wanna to see that day.

I think Route Creator might be which might create another scene like livery creation and tuning, if there was more accessible way to create tracks, add route markers and maybe even create championships. Other thing that might work could be stories like British Racing Green, where we could learn some of the real history while driving, maybe they could work with that kind of content.

Playground has a history of introducing new elements into Horizon and then expanding them the next game. For example character avatars Horizon 3, dressable avatars Horizon 4. I hope they continue to expand the whole “Horizon lifestyle” and give us functional garages property ect. The game is supposed to a break from life after all, not just an arcade racer.

For me, there would be nothing better than the game loads into your property, you walk into the garage and see your favorite cars lined up and ready to go, and you hop in and drive out.
