Forza Horizon Motorsport

Is this the future!?
Open World+ Best racing tracks from around the world?

No

They have added the FH style into FM8 with the GaaS and FOMO plus the RPG and its not wanted as the majority of players have pointed out with scathing reviews.

Open world is RPG
Closed circuit racing is not

That seems to be the confusion. They thought, FH players and FM players prefer the same things. But though they might be the same people, they want serious racing in a serious racinggame. At least for me this would’ve been the way.
FM should not be addressed to kiddies. Asking myself, how they (the devs) could get it THAT wrong, though.

Is this the future!?

Maybe. I mean, insert Deus Ex "I never asked for this"™ meme, but whether we like it or not may or may not matter that much.

My guess is that the cold numbers would favor Motorsport being absorbed into Horizon, or just straight up axed. I just don’t see Motorsport having much of a point in Microsoft’s strategy anymore. But Horizon will probably survive.

In all honesty, if Horizon can manage to have a lot more race/road tracks, a lot less focus on pure offroad races, a lot less SUVs, and a lot more racecars, it might be enough to scratch the itch for me.

@Lens007888 Side note, it really peeves me when people call this “RPG”, when it really isn’t. There’s just a succession of XP bars, which isn’t the same thing. These systems only exist to waste your time, and calling it “RPG” gives it more legitimatcy than is deserved. And I mean that for FH5 as well.

Wait, what? Just because something is open-world doesn’t mean it has to be an RPG. That’s closed-minded.

Just to imagine for a brief moment, because I’m sure it’ll never happen from these titles. Let’s take somewhere like Italy, which has a high concentration of racing tracks (at least compared to the United States). You could realistically make a scaled version of the country and be able to drive to the tracks you’d like to race at. More of an interactive menu than anything.

Sort of like the idea from that game The Crew, where they did the whole U.S. in their map. Imagine doing that, but being able to drive up to Road America or down to Sebring. Another step further, add trailers to the game so that the trucks that are already here, the big dually Fords and such, we could haul our race car to the track. That would be so sick.

Just some thoughts, Prob far beyond the budget and talent level of T10, but maybe one day.

This should be the best way!!

As far as “RPG” goes, I don’t feel like I’m “role playing” anything in this game.

Would have been nice for the career mode to be something where I start off by picking what kind of racing I’d like to build up to, like open-wheel/prototypes/touring cars, then the rest of the career is based on that.

Pick open-wheel, you start off in heavily ballasted Formula Mazdas, win a “season” and take some ballast off, win again and move on to older formula cars and eventually to modern formula cars.

Pick prototypes and you start with Spec Miatas, win a season, move to 70s GT cars, and so on.

Touring cars, start with a stock CRX or something doing club circuits, win a season, move up.

Could have been so easy.

Yep,
but my thought behind it is…not to stay at one country…you can start in Italy…to start your racing career and then you can have something like a “fly button”…and start your international career to visit the race tracks around the world…and then you come back everytime and cruise around Italy…for this example!
Its all there to merge this two games together…

Project Cars 2 may have had some issues, especially on console, but this was one area where I feel they got things right. It was fun choosing your career path and having to strive for manufacturer relationships and manage sponsor events. I’m disappointed and surprised that no one’s really attempted anything like it since.

Sure, there are the career modes in F1 as well as the WRC games (both the old ones and the EA one), which have varying elements of career management, upgrades to staff, teammates, engineers, etc. which is all great and are things I’d love to see in Forza… but those games are all about ONE discipline of motorsport. Having a career mode like that in a game that has the breadth of car classes of a game like Forza has SO much potential.

“The potential” is what keeps me playing Forza but also what ultimately keeps me disappointed.

Everything any other racing title does well Forza is capable of overshadowing it, and yet they don’t. Ever.

It’s like they’re purposely avoiding being something.

:joy: Open World Close Minded sounds about as funny as when Chris Esaki first uttered the words CARPG.

Usually Open World style games are RPG’s these days and it’s a shame a bunch of developers thought hey let’s ruin the Forza Motorsport franchise by calling it now an RPG.

I don’t need to drive to a racetrack in a racing car to go racing, that’s adding an element of role playing if ever I’ve heard one.

Just build a soild circuit racer w/o all these silly things like Limos and Vans they said, then Turn10 say it’s a CARPG.

FH5 is CARPG, and it’s Open World, go drive to an event whilst blowing your horn dressed in a Mexican wrestling suit there and leave Motorsport alone

Yes I agree, it would be vomit inducing.

Again leave all these OpenWorld RPG ideas out of circuit racing games cause they only detract from the quality of the gameplay… as we have here in FM8 with the awful CP/CXP

I’ve heard people proposing that Horizon and Motorsport could/should be merged together over the years, but my answer to that would be “no”. Although I enjoy both Horizon and Motorsport, I don’t think they would be better together. I really like beef stew, and I also like ice cream, but if they were combined together? Nuh-uh, no way.

The only way that I would accept a “merger” of Motorsport and Horizon is if it ran on Motorsport’s driving physics… Though I think the majority of people would prefer Horizon’s physics for a combined open-world + track racing game.

Hey bro, we’re having fun daydreaming about a game that doesn’t exist, and probably never will. Why the need to knock everything down?
There are plenty of options if all you want is to put on a serious face and sweat it out with no other accoutrement.

Cause I’m “Closed Minded” and don’t want to play an RPG when I boot up a circuit racing game

Edit: Don’t worry @Faded_Plaid, Turn10 doesn’t read these forums nor listen to suggestions/ideas

I said the blanket statement of all open-world games being RPG’s was closed-minded, not that you were.

But yeah, you’re right on the 2nd point. At least to the degree that most on here expect or would like them to.

That’s always been my dream Forza game. Forza Horizon open world but with an airport where you can go to the tracks from MotorSport. They just won’t because it’ll be less sales.
