Forza Horizon 2 - DLC and Editions List

UPDATE FROM THE 8-17-18 WEEK IN REVIEW:

FH2 Cars, DLC, and Editions List

This thread will list the DLC and game editions available for adding the full car list and benefits to your game. Lists will be updated when new DLC is added. Content Updates will be listed as well.

Turn 10 announced on October 6: “We are currently planning to release DLC only for the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2.” This thread is primarily information about the Xbox One version. See the Car List discussion thread for additional information about traffic cars and unannounced cars spotted in gameplay videos and interviews.

To get access to the full car roster you’d need to install the Day One pack + 4 Pre-Order cars (separately or Pack) + 3 promotional codes + VIP + Car Pass + Furious 7 Car Pack + Alpinestars Car Pack + Duracell Car Pack + IGN Car Pack + Playground Select Car Pack + Ten Year Anniversary Car Pack + Fast & Furious Car Pack + Porsche Bonus Pack + Porsche Expansion + Storm Island Expansion (additional free DLC cars were added after launch via content updates). The Day One and promotional livery cars, and the 2-car Porsche Bonus Pack were time-limited and no longer available. As of March 2016, new owners may want to consider the Complete Add-Ons Collection which is a discount on all available DLC. Or they may want to consider the Ultimate Edition bundle. FM5 VIP pack owners get a $10 discount on the FH2 VIP Membership (or Deluxe or Ultimate Editions) from the dashboard Store or Smartglass app and FH2 VIP members get a 50% discount on the Storm Island Expansion Pack. Xbox Live Gold members may receive discounts on the game or DLC from time to time via Deals With Gold.

Horizon Promo Traffic Cars - Xbox One version
These 15 cars are included in the Horizon Promo list to be photographed in traffic but are not available to own. The total Horizon Promo car count is 351. Bonus credits are awarded for every 20 cars captured which means the last tier displayed will be unreachable unless more DLC cars are added to the game. DLC cars not owned by the player can be photographed in traffic, races, and Bucket List events.

Free cars from Demo play, Rewards, Gameplay, VIP, and Contests

The game starts off with a choice of either a BMW Z4, 1969 Chevy Camaro, or 1998 Toyota Supra RZ. From there you can earn credits to buy more cars for your garage to upgrade, tune, and paint. There are some ways you can receive cars without spending credits:

Play the Forza Horizon 2 Demo
The Forza Horizon 2 Demo is a free download for the Xbox One, featuring solo and online events. Cars and points accumulated in the Demo do not carry over to the full gamesave. Everyone who completed at least one event in the demo by October 31, 2014 received a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STi gifted to their game garage when they purchase and play the full game. You can find the Demo on the dashboard Store or from Smartglass by searching for “Demo.”

Forza Rewards
Forza Rewards is a loyalty program that tracks your activity across the history of Forza games. By driving, purchasing DLC, unlocking Achievements and performing other tasks, you earn cumulative points toward your Forza Rewards Tier. The higher your Tier, the more rewards you can receive every month. Often these rewards will be credits that will help you afford more cars. The first Rewards for Forza Horizon 2 are free cars when you start the game. If you’re at least Tier 2 you’ll receive the BMW; if you’re Tier 6 you’ll receive all 5 cars. See the Rewards announcement and Forza Hub announcement for more details.

  • Tier 2 - 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe
  • Tier 3 - 2013 Viper GTS
  • Tier 4 - 2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4
  • Tier 5 - 2014 Local Motors Rally Fighter
  • Tier 6 - 2013 McLaren P1

DLC Cars
Installing DLC with cars makes each car model in the pack “Free” in the Autoshow and Buy Car menu, a one-time allowance to claim each DLC car for your garage without using credits. Thereafter, each time you buy an additional car of the same model it will cost credits. The Launch Bonus Car Pack, 1988 BMW M5, 1990 Subaru Legacy RS, and 2002 Lotus Esprit V8 cars are free DLC for all players.

Free cars from gameplay

  • Wheelspin: Forza Horizon 2 tracks both Skill points and XP as you drive and race. Each time you accumulate enough XP to level up you will receive a Wheelspin, which provides a random gift of credits or a car. You can eventually use Skill Points to buy the “It’s a Lottery” Perk which helps you win better prizes more often from Wheelspins.
  • Showcases: Completing the first showcase earns the car for you to keep. The remaining showcases (Xbox One) do not award a car.
  • Barn Finds: During the course of gameplay you will be notified of Barn Find rumors. Find the barn (brick with metal doors) in the grey circled area to collect it for free restoration, then go to your Garage and select it to transfer it to your My Cars list for free.
  • Horizon Car Rental: You don’t get to keep Rental cars but these cars are made available in Online modes for free use in case the player does own have an eligible car for a chosen event. Rental cars do not earn XP or CR.

Gift cars from Turn 10
One of the benefits of owning the VIP Membership DLC is that from time to time you’ll receive exclusive gifts from the community team. Non-VIP players may also receive gift cars from time to time. See the Gift list history thread for details of past gift cars.

Contests
From time to time there may be contests that provide prizes including DLC packs or cars with special liveries. See the Contest thread for details and watch the Community Events forum for official threads.

Game Version and DLC Comparison

Forza Horizon 2 announcement in June

Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox 360 version comparison

Xbox One Editions
Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbox One can be purchased from retailers in a disc package or from the Xbox Live Store as a digital download. (Released September 30 in North America, October 3 in Europe).

$59.99 Forza Horizon 2 (available after release)
$59.99 Forza Horizon 2 Day One Edition = Disc or Digital + Day One Car Pack
$79.99 Forza Horizon 2 Day One Deluxe Edition = Digital Only + Day One + VIP
$99.99 Forza Horizon 2 Day One Ultimate Edition = Digital Only + Day One + VIP + Car Pass

Forza Motorsport 5 VIPs receive a $10 discount on digital purchases of the Deluxe or Ultimate editions (not disc purchases). If your discount registers correctly you should see this type of indication in the dashboard and Smartglass Store:
The VIP Membership and Car Pass can be purchased separately at a later date. The Day One Car Pack is not available for separate purchase and may not be available after release. After release the regular edition will replace the Day One Edition. The Launch Bonus Car Pack is a free download available to all game owners. Pre-Orders of the Day One disc edition at participating vendors may include 1 of 4 individually coded pre-order bonus cars which are not available via the Store or with digital download edition purchases.

Xbox One vs Xbox 360 Versions
Forza Horizon 2 is an exclusive title for Xbox and not available for PC or other platforms. Following are some key differences between the Xbox One version and the Xbox 360 version:

  • Developer: The Xbox One version is built on the Forza 5 engine and developed by Playground Games. The Xbox 360 version is built on the original Forza Horizon engine and developed by Sumo Digital.
  • Resolution: The Xbox One version runs at native 1080p while the 360 runs at 720p. Both run at a locked 30fps.
  • Achievements: Both versions offer 1000 gamerpoints over about 50 Achievements but the names and requirements vary based on game content differences. Gamerpoints from Achievements in both games apply to your gamertag profile.
  • Weather: The Xbox One version features dynamic weather resulting in rain and mist, puddles and evaporation, which affect car handling.
  • Day/Night: Both versions feature a 24-hour day/night cycle.
  • Car List: Both games release with a similar car list of over 200 models, with some exclusive to each platform.
  • Tuning: The Xbox One version features the same upgrades and tuning options as in FM5.
  • DLC: Only the Xbox One version will get DLC releases.
  • Events: The Xbox One version features nearly 700 events while the 360 version features nearly 500 events.
  • Opponents: The Xbox One version uses the Drivatar system from FM5, and carries over existing Drivatars from FM5 gamesaves. The 360 version uses A.I. familiar to players of the first Forza Horizon.
  • Online: The Xbox One version allows up to 12 players in an online session and uses instant transition with no lobbies. The Xbox One version also has an online Car Meet feature where players can meet, chat, challenge, and purchase liveries/tuning setups/cars from other players. The Xbox 360 version allows up to 8 players online and does not include Freeroam.
  • Clubs: The Xbox One version allows up to 1000 members of a club. The Xbox 360 version allows up to 100 members per club.
Players on the Xbox One will not be able to play against players on the Xbox 360, and gamesaves do not transfer between the consoles.

Forza Horizon 2 Demo
The Forza Horizon 2 Demo is a free download for the Xbox One, featuring solo and online events. Cars and points accumulated in the Demo do not carry over to the full gamesave. However, everyone who completes at least one event in the demo by October 31, 2014 will receive a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STi gifted to their game garage when they purchase and play the full game. You can find the Demo on the dashboard Store or from Smartglass by searching for “Demo.” The Demo will present you with ordering options for each of the full game editions. See the Downloadable Demo discussion thread.

Game Content Updates

From time to time players may see a dashboard prompt to install an update to the game. These updates may include adjustments to the game or enable content additions. Players who install FH2 from disc should have only one combined download of updates; digital purchases may not see an update at installation because the store download should include the basic and additional content together. Chronological list of updates:

2014.10.01 - Xbox One Update for Forza Horizon 2
“Some players who were part of the Xbox One October Preview program were experiencing crashing and freezing in Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 5. An update was released earlier today and should be available to all Preview participants by tomorrow night. This update to the Xbox One OS should resolve those issues.” - October 1

2014.10.07 - Mobil 1 content update
333MB released October 7, 2014. This update added the Mobil 1 Car Pack cars to the game roster. It also added a new car to the Horizon Promo list - the Nissan G-Shock 370Z, a duplicate to the 2010 370Z already in the list but with a livery. This car was not added to the Autoshow. An increased tier was added to Horizon Promo as well.

2014.10.24 - Issues content update
~578MB released October 24, 2014. This update addresses stability, fixed the Skyline GT-R R32 engine audio issue, fixed a controller disconnection issue, fixed circuit event exploits, added the option to remove all HUD elements when driving, added the FH2 watermark in photo mode with the option to choose its corner, and added a Collect and Quit option to Wheelspin. Announced in the 10-24 WIR. See also the discussion thread.

2014.11.04 - Falken content update
518MB released November 4, 2014. This update added the Falken Car Pack and Subaru Legacy cars to the game roster. It also added a third Bucket List.

2014.12.02 - NAPA content update
430MB released December 2, 2014. This update added the NAPA Chassis Car Pack and Lotus Esprit V8 cars to the game roster.

2014.12.16 - Storm Island content update
1315MB released December 16, 2014. This update added the Storm Island Expansion Pack map to the game with its own Pause menu tab for island Online Freeroam and Championships, Bucket Lists, Rivals, and event Progress, and a Storm Island stats tab under the Pause menu Progress tab. Day One Car Pack

Xbox.com Store link

The Day One Car Pack is an add-on that increases the game roster by 3 cars. The pack is included as a bonus for all pre-orders of the digital and disc editions of the Xbox One Version. The pack is not available as a separate item for purchase from the Store (though you can see details at the link). Limited quantities may mean that this pack may not be found at retailers after release day. The three included cars have special native liveries and tuning packages applied when you buy them for your in-game garage.

Day One Cars

  • 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T
  • 2014 Ford Fiesta ST
  • 2013 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG

Installing DLC does not automatically put the cars in your garage - you will need to transfer them from the in-game Buy Car menu. As in Forza Motorsport 5, each purchased add-on car can be added to your in-game garage one time for free – without additional in-game credits. After the freebie, obtaining additional cars of the same model from the Buy Cars list will cost credits. Information on whether DLC cars will be included among the Wheelspin prizes will be noted later.

Secondary profiles on a shared Gold console will be able to access DLC cars in the game without purchasing the pack, but gamesave benefits may only be available to the account that purchased the pack. As a result, secondary profiles may not have the one-time-for-free tag for DLC cars and may need to use credits to transfer the cars to their in-game garage.

DLC included in the Car Pass

  • 2010 Noble M600
  • Mobil 1 Car Pack - October
  • Falken Car Pack - November
  • NAPA Chassis Car Pack - December
  • G-Shock Car Pack - January
  • Top Gear Car Pack - February
  • Rockstar Car Pack - March
The Car Pass is a bulk discount on six selected monthly car packs, each containing 5 cars. In addition to the included monthly car packs, Car Pass owners have exclusive access to the 2010 Noble M600 (not available to purchase as separate DLC). In total, the Car Pass price covers 31 cars. The Car Pass is included with purchase of the Forza Horizon 2 Ultimate Edition or can be purchased separately as an add-on to the regular or Deluxe editions for $24.99. This is roughly a 17% discount from purchasing all six monthly car packs at $4.99 each. The Car Pass can be purchased at any time, even after all the monthly car packs have been released, but purchasing the Car Pass after purchasing an individual car pack may not result in a refund or price reduction for the difference.

The Car Pass does not include: Pre-Order cars, VIP cars, individual promotional DLC cars, Storm Island Expansion Pack, Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, the April Furious 7 Car Pack, the May Alpinestars Car Pack, or any subsequent packs. Per the Rockstar Car Pack announcement: “The Rockstar Energy Car Pack is the sixth and final car pack included with the Forza Horizon 2 Car Pass. Any future car packs for Forza Horizon 2 for Xbox One will be available for purchase individually for $5 each.”
The Car Pass is not discounted as a result of owning the VIP pack.

Once you own the Car Pass there is no need to download the monthly car packs as they are released; a free content update on release day will add the cars to the game and you can simply start accessing them from gameplay. Installing DLC does not automatically put the cars in your garage - you will need to transfer them from the in-game Buy Car menu. Each purchased add-on car can be added to your in-game garage one time for free, without using in-game credits. After the freebie, obtaining additional cars of the same model from the Buy Cars list will cost credits.

Secondary profiles on a shared XBL Gold member console will be able to access DLC cars in the game without purchasing the pack, but gamesave benefits may only be available to the account that purchased the pack. As a result, secondary profiles may not have the one-time-for-free tag for DLC cars and may need to use credits to transfer the cars to their in-game garage. DLC is only for the Xbox One version of FH2, not available for the Xbox 360 version.

Monthly Car Packs

Car Pass announcement article

The announcement of the Car Pass revealed a DLC plan of at least six monthly car packs containing 5 cars each. Monthly packs cost $4.99 for 5 cars. The first six packs are included in the Car Pass. Extras

Announced in the 12-18-14 Week in Review, a Treasure Map and Tokens have been added to the Extras tile under the Pause menu’s Marketplace tab.

Tokens
Xbox.com Store link for Xbox One
100 Tokens pack $0.99 (1 token per cent)
325 Tokens pack $2.99
575 Tokens pack $4.99
1250 Tokens pack $9.99
2750 Tokens pack $19.99
8000 Tokens pack $49.99
20,000 Tokens pack $99.99 (2 tokens per cent)

Tokens are a means of buying cars or upgrades for your car in lieu of using in-game credits. This can be useful if you do not have enough credits to buy an expensive car. In menus where Tokens can be used, the value will be indicated by a “T” within a circle near the credit value. In general, a token is equal to 600 credits, so something that would cost 60,000 credits would cost 100 tokens. The game does not require you to purchase and/or use Tokens, and there are plenty of opportunities to earn credits for the things you want to buy. You can toggle Disable Tokens in the Extras tile which will remove the token purchase price for eligible items until you toggle the Enable option. Note that as a consumable DLC, resetting a gamesave may not recover the previous Token counts for the new save. Each purchased Token pack will also probably not be shared with other accounts on the console.

Treasure Map
Xbox.com Store link for Xbox One - $2.99
The Treasure Map reveals the locations of Bonus Boards, Bucket List Challenges, Speed Cameras, and Barn Finds (as each one is unlocked) on the game map. Once the map is purchased it will display as long as the gamesave continues. Note that as a consumable DLC, resetting a gamesave may not recover the map for the new save. The Treasure Map will also probably not be shared with other accounts on the console.

Each purchased add-on car can be added to your garage for free once without using in-game credits. After the freebie, obtaining additional cars of the same model from the Buy Cars list will cost credits (or Tokens). It’s recommended that players wait for the content update and DLC downloads to install completely (no longer in queue) before attempting to play in order to prevent issues with buying DLC cars.

Secondary profiles on a shared XBL Gold member console will be able to access DLC cars in the game without purchasing the pack, but gamesave benefits may only be available to the account that purchased the pack. In addition, the 1966 Ford Lotus Cortina was added to the game free to all players after installing the content update.

Cortina and Top Gear Cars

  • 2014 BMW M235i
  • 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale
  • 1993 Jaguar XJ220
  • 1986 Lamborghini LM002
  • 2015 Lexus RC F
  • 1966 Ford Lotus Cortina (manufacturer = Ford. Free with content update)
The cars were made visible in the game by a content update for the game on February 3. It’s recommended that players wait for the content update and DLC downloads to install completely (no longer in queue) before attempting to play in order to prevent issues with buying DLC cars. Purchasing DLC does not automatically put the cars in your garage - you will need to obtain them from the Autoshow or Buy Cars menu. Each purchased add-on car can be added to your garage for free once without using in-game credits. After the freebie, obtaining additional cars of the same model from the Buy Cars list will cost credits (or Tokens).

Secondary accounts may be able to purchase the DLC from Xbox.com in order to receive DLC benefits.
