Hi guys.
I used to be something of an… Erm, specialist painter in FM4, both in car choice and topic.
See, all I painted back in FM4 were F-class city cars… A type of car we don’t even have anymore. Furthermore, my topic was… Odd. Let me be straight up. I was a brony back then. Yes, I am the man responisble for the Infamous Chevrolet SparkLE.
My old GT, V8UC UNICORN, in Google Images, will yield results in a Google image search. I know I used to have the ability to paint.
Well I’m trying to get back into painting, but I’m now looking to do traditional liveries. Fantasy design, but in keeping with the norm’ for any contempory racing car that we see IRL on telly today. WTCC liveries, for example.
Does anyone have any tips on deigning these liveries? I mean sponsorship placement, how many colours, etc.?
Furthermore, is there any tips on making #boards? This is something in particular that I’m struggling with.
Note, these liveries I want to make are for personal use only. As such I have no problems with using locked vinyl groups, as I have no intention of sharing anything for the foreseeable future.
If you have some pics of your old work… it might spark a memory… your GT doesn’t ring a bell for me…
Great to have painters return to forza! Hope we can help with whatever you need!
As for your questions… i’d say start with a design show your progress here and then we can comment / give advice

Yeah that’s fair enough. I only covered the slowest cars in FM4, so my liveries didn’t get much exposure. But the dedicated F-class drivers were hardcore, and my Chevrolets were well known in that particular lobby… If only there.
Thanks for the advice! I have an idea in my head of what I want to do for my lobby racer. The image is right there. It’s just difficult putting it into reality.

Looking up your GT brings up some designs that definitely fit the bill (despite the peculiar choice of cars and subjects). Usually you want to have your main sponsor quite visible, and ideally give it a place on both the driver and passenger doors and the bonnet of the car, but there is no “hard and fast” rule about this, and in some situations (especially in race series with a more affordable budget) real-life racecars may not even have a “title” sponsor taking the spotlight. Lines and colors are a much more complex matter, and much is left to the imagination of the livery artist - but if you have a title sponsor, don’t forget to incorporate their colors, and other elements of their brand identity, as much as possible.
As for number boards, it’s like replicating any other vinyl - find some reference pictures, and get to work. Although with some of the most popular racing series you may get lucky and find that someone already did that, and uploaded their handiwork to the SF so that other could use it in their own liveries, or trace it.
