The penalty system (after updated to better detect responsibilities) should force drivers to have a stop and go at the end of the lap. Then they get their race and strategies ruined as well.
Just got upset to get my races over on the first lap in endurance races while qualifying in top 6. I also got penalties for wrong reasons and my safety gets worst. So it is getting worst. Adding the possibilities to know the age of drivers (I guess some juvenile are there just for ramming…) could help.
If someone does something egregious enough to deserve a drive through penalty, i say just give em the boot instead. Repeat offenders get temp bans.
I’d rather see stop and go penalties than the time added on to the end of your overall time. Having to stop in the pits and wait for .5 seconds to 16 seconds will have people thinking twice about ramming.
Also if someone rams and quits, have the game serve their penalty time before they can leave the lobby w/o hard resetting or toggling the power on their machine.
Also track people who end their sessions right after an accident. Chances are that, even the recipiant is gaming the system if they quit within seconds of the incident. If someone has a pattern of hitting and quitting, they are most likely a griefer. And once labeled a gtiefer, they should be restricted to nothing but a 99 lap race at Eagle Rock infield in a detuned Dodge Omni GLHS with 99% wear on the tires, with a room full of other deamed griefers.
Seriously, this should be all they can select in multiplayer. The same event would be in all featured races, spec races, highlight car races and even blurbs about the punishment room would popup in their notices. They stay there until the most recent penalty is served. But the catch is, the seconds have been up scaled to days. Get a 3 second penalty, spend 3 days in the kiddy room. I would make the minimum days 3, but I forgot to mention the last 20 events participated in will be accumulated… So good luck getting less than 1 second to get into the server.
