Not going to lie, being 23 and mostly active on the Forza subreddits before I came here more often, I was shocked by the median age here. Not a bad thing, but surprising nonetheless.
But do we really have a good understanding for the actual median? Sounds like a poll opportunity:
- 17 or under
- 18-24
- 25-34
- 35-44
- 45-54
- 55-64
- 65+
You’re definitely one of the mountain top players. But you’re four years behind me (64). And I think someone here is in the 70’s club.
Shouldn’t you oldies play something like this instead?
Well, as the time of writing this, only ten people have voted, and it seems I’m the only one in my age bracket.
@PlageBLN , I play this game every time I go through an Airport.
Probably faster than the Peel P50
With all the oldtimers around I’m starting to think that all that ramming and corner bombing could actually be related to decaying cognitive and motoric skills.
probably 23 year old kids who haven’t learned how to turn yet!
23 missed the mark. Sorry @Runoff1999 that barb was aimed at @PlageBLN . Maybe he was right after all.
Meanwhile on GTPlanet, I’m pretty sure the median age around there is something like eight.
As this discussion seems to be turning into a version of the Monty Python Yorkshiremen sketch, I’ll add my ha’penny worth.
My first experiences of gaming were a traffic light simulation, and a lunar landing simulation. The former was self coded (in BASIC) on a dumb terminal at my school and fed into a mainframe computer at a local college via punched tape. The latter was on a pocket programmable calculator made by Sir Clive Sinclair’s company. Neither had video output (I think that milestone was with a game called TranzAm on the Spectrum)
I’m that old…
That was a bit like Car Mechanic Simulator plus a racing game together. You even actually had to refuel your car. That was back in the 90’s mind you.
Take note dev team!
Looks like you’ve got some company now with (25) votes currently, but the data is definitely confirming your previous impressions so far.
This was the first state of the art video game we had:
I think that a friend had a Pong “console”, that had a gun attachment so you could shoot a moving target (i.e. the ball in the base game).
I remember competing in FM4 tuning contests with you & others from the old crew of regulars. Good times.
Late 90’s, when a game actually made you understand how an engine worked, and how a cam could completely change a dyno curve.
Oh, and to prove it was actually going to be a NFS game…
I am a lurker and have been here since release. I use the forum because all the info about each playlist is concentrated here. Since I’m a lazy b*stard and don’t feel like spending much time in the game anymore, I get the info about the treasure hunts and collectibles and also your tunes here. That way I’m through extremely quickly and have the 20 and 40 points respectively. You guys are doing a good job!
Dyno2000 was a good HP and Torque estimate tool for engine building. My late friend gave me a copy of the CD while saying: you’ll wish that we had home computers and this program in late 70s and 80s.
