FM5 August content update - Thrustmaster and MadCatz improved functionality

For me, this update is better than getting new content. It was a bit overdue, but so glad the guys at T10 did it! Thx T10😊

^^^^^^^ heck yeah!

I’m planning to get my first racing wheel soon and I don’t know to get Madcatz or Thrustmaster. They both seem really good to me but I don’t have a rig to set it up on. The Madcatz wheel comes with more versatile ways for me to set up the wheel while Thrustmaster just seems like a better wheel. I would really like some advice on which racing wheel to get, and thank you for reading.

If you want Force Feedback & Vibration, plus work with a PC, get the Thrustmaster TX. You can add GTE Rim or F1 Rim. Also you can add T3PA Pedals or TH8A Shifter.

I would recommend you getting the Wheel Stand Pro V2 for $130. If you plan on getting add on pedals or shifter, you will need to buy Wheel Stand Pro Deluxe V2 $180.

The Mad Catz is Force Feedback only. No add on’s. Xbox One only at this time.

its very simple: belt driven vs helical gear driven, that alone should be enough information to go for the TX. Belt driven is much smoother than helical gears (they have that awful ‘clogging’-feeling). And the TX currently seems to be cheaper than the MC at Amazon. Absolute no-brainer if you ask me.

Only reason to go for a MC would be if you want to use it on your lap, its FF is weak enough for this.

Guys,

I can definitely feel an improvement in the feedback and vibration…it feels so much better.

However if I let go of my wheel on a straight my car veers off either left or right…it doesn’t stay straight. I can’t say if it was because of the update or not but I have only just noticed it. Can anyone else test theirs for me please?

I also think I have lost rumble once since the improvements but will test some more this week.

Did you do alignment on the car tune? Might be off. Drive something stock & see if it does it still.

Thanks, I mainly use Tuned by Worm tunes but will test it out anyway.

The latest firmware for the TX states a Center Value Adjust where you can change where the wheel centres however there are no instructions on how to do it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yup, first turn the wheel into both directions until you reach the stop, then make sure its perfectly centered. Then hit Y, X and the MODE button simultanously (FLASH, PIT and MODE on GTE wheel / K, N and MODE on F1 wheel). The MODE LED will briefly change its color to confirm that the center value has been reset. Its a permanent setting, so you dont need to repeat it after reconnecting the wheel. TM suggests to do this procedure while on the Xbox dashboard and not in game.
