FM Update 9.0 Overview - Sebring, Porsche, and Endurance Month| 10 June 2024

An update I really appreciate is what they did to the home space.

This is from update 8.2 (I think. we had 2 hot fixes in update 8, right?)…

And this is update 9.0…

Notice the differences? The sun is no longer shining on the car. That change allows for shots like this to happen…

Once we can turn off TAA, then our journey to the dark side will be compl… Ahem…

Our pictures might get a lot sharper for 1080p plebs, such as myself. LOL

But in all seriousness, Turn 10… Go ahead and make the time of day in the home space changeable or in sync with real time. It appears that is the intention of the home space.

However DLSS integration still bad. I need to play native 4k cause DLSS or DLAA image is pretty bad and full of ghosting

Yes it indeed is, did a couple of Rivals on the Nord and cracked the top 10 (only because it was reset but still a little victory) then headed back to the main menu for the first time since update 9 and it locked up on the loading screen with the pinwheel, hit windows button and waited till it said end process then waited 3 seconds more because the program stopped responding and it sent another report off to Mircosoft

Looks like they fixed the prismacolor problem as well. But no mention of it in the notes.

Thats good news. I got to take a look at it.

Was there always a track announcer at the US circuits? I just completed a race at Lime Rock, and there was an announcer that said something like “After a great race, please give a round of applause to our winners”. Heck… Just now, at Homestead, theres an announcer reading ad lines for Flowzoil, and telling patrons they can “get VIP passes and get an up close look at the teams as they prepare to race”.

As I wrote this, there were various messages playing. Something about a 2 hour ride along, and thanking the santioning bodies for giving us exciting racing. And there are bespoke lines mentioning the track I’m at…

This is all new, right?

I’ve been starting from the back and its absolutely abysmal. The old Forza AI were not this bad. They didnt constantly steer into your car seemingly on purpose when you’re side by side in a corner like you’re not even there like this. Its unplayable. I pray whoever was responsible for this AI tuning is flipping burgers right now. But knowing how they do things over at the Microsoft Games Studios, There were probably like 15 people who worked on this dumpsterfire code.
Like there is no way they have any proximity formation metric or telemetry data to pull from to tell the AI that you’re on the track. You’re just not there to them. and then they do stuff like full stall brake in the middle of turns that they’ve already clipped the apex on and should be on the power for.
Wreckfest AI do a better job of formation collision avoidance. Wreckfest is more fun to race clean against the AI in than Forza Motorsport.

I turned off the ultra annoying voices like you just got another penalty of about half a second… 0.2 :crazy_face:

It’s much more enjoyable not having the stupid spotter on when all they say is bad news or last lap

Try out freeplay at the Nord lvl8 3 laps, you in S and group the cars, S, R & X

Pull over at the start of the race and let everyone past then go for it, you will pass 2 X Class and then they will continuously ram into the back of you so hard it causes terminal damage when you have that selected.

Then when you finish the race a minute before the next time placing will look like this

I had it selected as Wins per group and Class yet the game does not appear to allow for that!, at least I got my 30k for finishing 1st in class plus overall

Only 2 of the X Class finished before ANY of the R or S and notice how the position finished I’m down 9 places even tho I finshed 1st

Happens everytime you choose the higher class to start in the last group no matter what

I chalk it upto a broken system just like the replays in MP that keep the players position for the entire race as what position they started in which make it near impossible to submit a ticket against the rammer scumbags

Did they do anything with the TAA implementation? It seems clearer, like they baked a sharpening filter in. I feel like the muddiness I used to see in spots with lots of geometry (grills, rims, aggressive aero) is gone.

Didn’t get a chance to try any of the added content yet, but while blowing through the events I haven’t done yet, I did get a softlock and a disappearing track (Nurb GP this time), so those a thing still unfortunately. Kind of a picky request, but I still wish we had a “realistic” transmission option that would enable/disable the clutch/h-pattern/paddles accordingly. I always switch between manual/manual+clutch to match the car I’m driving, but I still sometimes forget to match the gear on the h-pattern during a start, and I’ll accidentally launch from a stop in 4th or drop to 1st on a flying start or something.

Get the freeze exactly as it was when hotfix 8.1 dropped, maybe the 9.1 hotfix fixes the crashing :rofl:

No disappearing track here and when it did do it before was at the loading screen at the Nord which seems to have been fixed… tho I only played till it crashed so it might well still be there… most probably if you are having it in game @LsK1128

It’s so bad they added Sebring. Most ppl wanted Bathurst. Another MEH update without anything important…

I want to read something like: “Improved Multithreading Performance for high CPU counts”. I AM SICK OF IT. Why the game is SO BADLY OPTIMIZED for a 16 cores CPU?

The game only uses 8 cores and 16 threads and even then it’s still mostly single threaded. Why games like this still exist? We live in the year 2024 CPU’s with many cores are a thing, but it’s like T10 doesn’t care about that.

The game runs like it’s coded in the early 2000’s. It’s RIDICULOUS!

Looks like nobody requires the Radar anymore!

I’ve heard the announcer at Sebring yesterday and was wondering if it’s exclusive for the new track. I need to check other circuits, it’s a nice touch (and it could explain why the game is more than 3 GB fatter on Steam now, with only three cars and one track added :smiley: )

I still don’t know if there will be a new track next month,just checked the updated video,they seem to have not mentioned this point

Yup, there is no mention of the next track this time. It could mean we’re going to wait longer than two months.

Don’t care about tracks, really want them to start improving car sounds. Like… NOW.

They improved some sounds with Update 9 (e.g. Pagani Zonda) but didn’t mention that in patch notes.

Yeah, they sometimes don’t. I tested a tonne of cars when the update dropped. Unfortunately, they sound the same - i.e. Ferraris, McLarens, Nissans, Porsches, etc. all the ones that direly need updating.

I occasionally get that and the option to end process however I just let it sit there and eventually it recovers.

Ending process should always be a last resort.

They should decrease the 5 minute window where you cannot join anymore.
