We are implementing some changes to the Forza Forums with the goal of serving community members by improving navigation and topic organization to spotlight conversation most frequently sought by Forza site visitors: official gameplay info in current game titles. The Forza Forums will also continue to be the primary place we monitor feedback around troubleshooting issues and suggestions, and provide a space for users to share their in-game content.
The Forza Motorsport 2023 > FM 2023 Discussion category is where staff will post polling and users can provide feedback about content, discuss gameplay experiences, share tips and strategies, and chat about the games in general.
Use Search and Tags to find existing topics and add a reply to join those conversations.
Use this thread to post a question about a game feature, or a discussion topic youâd like to see, and staff will create the topic in either the Official Resources or FM Discussion subcategory. Once the new topic is created youâll be able to reply to it and engage with other users in that conversation.
NOTE: This thread is for submitting requests for topic creation, not for cross discussion. Off-topic posts will be removed.
I think it might be good to have dedicated threads to some of the most popular Featured Multiplayer series, where people can share results, tunes, discuss car balancing etc.
All of this is already implemented in the ForzaVerse discord where the entire racing community is working on it, I doubt they would prefer to use an archaic forum for this purpose. ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
QFT. Personally I love discord for game chat and sharing things amongst small groups of friends. But for disseminating information to larger groups and being an effective resource for finding important/relevant information, I find it intolerable. Forums are absolutely still relevant for such things.
Okay whats the deal with creating a new topic under Forza Motorsport 2023 Discussion? The create new topic icon is greyed out or not visible so how am I supposed to create a discussion topic?
Seems to me like thatâs the whole point of this latest reorganization of the forums - they donât want you to create new discussion topics.
Either you reply to an existing topic, or you add a reply to this thread and staff may or may not choose to create a new thread for you if they deem your reply worthy of further discussion.
Personally, I donât like it at all. Apparently itâs to help keep the forums organized, but it really feels like T10 want to stifle forum activity, thereby lightening the workload of the mods - perhaps in preparation of having less staff on hand?
Right, but how exactly are you supposed to do that? I get the same tooltip popup. Where/how do you select this âsubcategoryâ?
Seems to me like Iâm not the only one who canât figure it out, as Iâve noticed a distinct lack of new posts since this new forum format/ policy was implemented.
Clicking on any of the âcategoriesâ just takes me to the corresponding page, where the Create Post button is greyed out/ ghosted. I have to click on âAll Categoriesâ for that not to be the case.
Iâm now met with a dizzying collection of categories (which donât even display fully at my phoneâs resolution), and Iâm supposed to scroll through this long list and select where I want my post to go?
Why does it need to be this way? Happy to have someone explain what Iâm doing wrong, but this just feels so unnecessarily convoluted. Like itâs designed with the sole purpose of cutting down on the amount of new forum posts. It gives a poor impression to the user - when itâs this difficult to just come on and ask a question or to offer an opinion, it feels like user input is not wanted. Maybe thatâs the intention.
If youâre seeing something different, Iâd like to understand how and why.
Rereading the original post in this thread,
âŚthis makes it pretty clear to me that this is all intended functionality. They donât want us posting new topics any time we feel like it. I get that itâs a lot of work monitoring the forums and merging/deleting threads and posts to keep things on topic. But this, to me, feels way too heavy-handed and like theyâve swung the pendulum too far in the opposite direction, to the point where I havenât seen any new topics at all since this change has been implemented.
I donât post many topics, so prior to your message I had not.
After testing, it appears to be disabled on my end as well. Thatâs a bizarre choice.
That it would seem. Itâs unfortunate that the official forums cannot handle the criticism of a poorly received game and that the users constantly get into spats due to differing views.
