Flat curbs throwing car into a wild spin

So I have been playing Forza Motorsport since release and thoroughly enjoy it. However one issue that has constantly plagued me are certain flat curbs wildly throwing the car into a spin for reasons I can’t register. I have checked forums etc and haven’t seen anyone else moan about this. Has anyone else had these issues? I am wondering if it is because I play on PC and have a framerate at 72fps, it might be an issue solely for that, so not many people have experienced it.

Notable curbs this happens on:
Mugello: Turn 5, the inside curb on the right on the second part of the chicane
Brands Hatch: Turn 6, Westfield Bend, inside curb on the right, clipping this can sometimes throw the car.

Is it just me this happens to, or do others experience it too?

I will try and save a video of this instance next time it occurs and post.

It’s a well known issue amongst many players. Somehow the Devs thought that curbs have to act like Bananas in Mario Kart. Mugello is the worst of them all but many other tracks like Road America, Kyalami etc. are plagued with this issue as well.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, looking at what has been posted there, it is exactly what is happening, also interesting to see the person posting said they too were using PC

This doesn’t fix the issue, but I usually lower the tire pressure a bit and the suspension geometry, and maybe try to increase the rebound stiffness up to 7 to 12. This won’t make you faster, but it makes driving over curbs safer.

Happens on xbox aswell

I know this problem all too well. And as you have already written, the problem changes as soon as you touch the suspension and make it a little softer. Which makes me wonder WHY, especially in Kyalami, the right-hand bend downhill on the curb on the left-hand side is extremely disgusting. It is not present in ACC Kyalami, which is very strange because both routes were scanned and you can see that, but the different heights of the curbs make me suspicious.

I play on Xbox and there’s one kerb in particular on Kyalami since launch that I have to be careful around, so it’s not a PC specific issue.

I avoid most curbs if possible they are devastating if you use a wheel. I think Forza is exaggerating here, curbs aren`t as impactful in ACC and most other games.

Speaking of Assetto Corsa I think they had the same problem prior to a specific rework of tire simulation where curbs were extremly slippery or sometimes would act like hitting a wall with physics going crazy for a brief moment.

If the kerb is that yellowish colour avoid like the plague. It’s like the devs coated them with lube.

I find the behaviour of curbs on the exit of corners most frustrating.

If you still have a lot of steering angle applied and run onto the exit curb it will often make you spin violently and unexplainably.

So many games totally stuff up modelling the impact of curbs.

If this resembled reality they would never be able to use them IRL due to safety concerns.

2 things. Spring rates are too low and dampers too soft. This is no fault of yours, but instead that of whoever or whatever is setting these default suspension tunes. 0 out the anti-suspension geometry = first step. Next set bump damping to around 7 then set rebound closer to 10. Spring rates are
also generally about 200 lbs/in too low so raise them some.

This should put you in a good ‘base’ tune situation. If you’re struggling from corner exit understeer, raise front bump and lower rear rebound. Just a smidge. .2 or .3 is generally my goto here.

ARBs don’t have nearly the amount of power they used to have in Forza games. I currently have ( on this 765LT I’m tuning ) front ARB at around 10 and rear at around 35. In the old FM this would have been absolutely uncontrollable. Not the case anymore.

Then there’s wheel alignment. You’re just going to have to turn on telemetry and tweak these until the temperatures are pretty even across all 3 zones while cornering. You never want to see the inside edge get cooler than the outside on the outer tires during a turn.

These numbers don’t always work out ( due to the weight of the car generally ), but in most cases they’re great starting points. This has been my experience.

Actually, it all boils down to one thing and one thing only. T10 screwed up when they built the track and they aren’t going back and fixing it. Simple as that.

It has happened to me 3 times since Update 10. At Mugello obviously, at Sebring close to the back straight, at Brands Hatch and I saw it happen to a brazilian player at Daytona.

Always happens with RWD car touching curbs OR NOT. Subaru Levorg GT, Porsche Forza GT2, Nissan 370Z. Oh and I saw it happen to a guy in Cadillac ATS V.R GT3 right before the kink at Road America, that long right hander? His car just snapped mid corner, I messaged him he said the car spun out of nowhere. Last lap too so he was robbed the victory.

Something odd going on.

!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!

It’s never going to be fixed.

It’s not a spoiler if we already know it for sure. Is it?

Nordschleife is another track (alongside Kyalami or Mugello) where some curbs seem to be very slippery for no reason and must be avoided at all costs. This should be fixed long time ago.

Did they not fix this when they reworked a lot of the curbs in update 9 (or was it another update)?

Unfortunately not, maximum caution is still necessary especially around Brunnchen (I think) as the outside curb there can send the car into a sudden spin.

I feel like Road America has a few too.
