There are two issues that need resolved and possibly patched.
Just a quick google search will yield results of the countless trolls in racing games.
So many people either don’t know how to race or just don’t care. Of course you can try and minimize damage but it still doesn’t stop it. I’ve found that people aren’t interested in learning how to take a turn. Its just much easier to use the car ahead of them to stop and/or slow down.
Solution? Make damage mandatory online. Make front end damage disable a car.
Where are the other classes? I think it would be funny to race in a VW van. Or how about some of the goofier cars?
Free roam and online road trips are hit and miss and it is very frustrating. There are other cars in the game besides S1 and S2s. [Mod Edit - abbreviated profanity is not allowed - MM]
Solution? Allow people to choose the class they want BEFORE entering a online game/field/lobby/world.
Solution, play a more technical game like F1 of FM4/5. Many people don’t or can’t differentiate between how they drive offline with how they should drive online. They dont’t realize that just because you can use AI drivers as cushions in Forza games, doesn’t mean you should take that racing ethic to the online world. You can try to moralize over driving style though all day, week, or year, and no one will ever really hear or care in the Forza Horizon online world. It’s way more casual then what you are seeking.
The real problem is when they take that racing ethic into the real world - some moron in a stolen Audi S4 used my car as a brake when he discovered he wasn’t actually able to drive a powerful car a few weeks ago, and wrote off my extremely rare Mondeo I’ve never really subscribed to the theories of people’s behaviour being influenced by video games, but that experience definitely reminded me of some of my worse Forza online memories…
The problem with mandatory damage online is that the rammers will still ram you and wreck your car, they will sacrifice them selves to wreck you … my opinion of course
And because of a few idiots who you came across you want to impliment mandatory damage. Well if that happens and I hope it dosent. I pray you hit a wall on your first race and have to sit out. Accidents happen. Then you can come on the forums and complain how bad an idea it was.
And you are perfectly able to select a class before going online. Just get in the car you want to race. 90%of the time it will allocate you to a road trip based on your current vehicle.
I would agree something must be done, granted i also understand that it would be next to near impossible to impliment. I share in the frustration and to be honest i have found a few lobbies where people were actually trying to race clean. I can put up with the odd bump and grind once in a while, it happens sometimes that someone tries to late brake and hits you(rubbing is racing). However the incessant bashing with no effort to try and follow some sort of racing line that involves braking as opposed to go as fast as you can aim for the inside of the corner and use the cars in front as your brakes. It is almost insulting when you are passing someone cleanly and then they start to bash you as you go by. Sorry i took a better line to carry more speed and was able get a better drive off the corner. That is something should be addressed.
The only way to stop the misery is to forbid children to play online, but it will never happen for obvious reasons, so the only solution to the problem that I can see is to give us custom lobby settings.
Forbid children? You mean the majority of the game buying public then, it is mostly children that play these games you know that right.
Not only that but it’s not necessarily children either my son has been playing racing game’s since the age of 4 he’s now 10 and he’s very good and takes his racing seriously.
Custom lobby’s I agree with but banning someone because they fall in the bracket of youngsters I do not.
I’m probably barking up the wrong tree as always, but this seems as good a time as any to call out a completely misleading piece of trivia.
For reasons I hoped would be obvious, the average is going to skew older than is actually representative of the gaming public as a whole - if one person with 60 years of age and two of 15 are playing Forza, the average age of the group is 30; see the problem?
Kids (or for the sake of argument, people under 21) are in fact the majority of gamers. Whatever income they do have tends to be disposable, so luxury items are actually much easier to save for or buy outright than among older people with bills. But I’m sure everyone already knew this, either by common sense or deductive logic. Going deeper into the reasons for such attempts at wool-pulling (not by you Wormfaust, but whoever is responsible for the content of that website and wherever the data originated) via statistics are a discussion for another time & place, but worth thinking about if anyone is inclined to do so.
What absolute nonsense. I could equally say the average age is going to skew younger if you have 2 60yo people and 1 15yo person. The average age is 45; see the problem? No, me neither. Average age works.
Also, i don’t think a 15yo school kid has more money to spend on luxuries than, say, a 30yo with a job.
You need to read wider, that is if you have read at all to find out how old most gamers are.
Here are two sentences with very different meanings.
“The average gamer is 31 years old.”
“The average age of gamers is 31 years old.”
Statistics can cope with the calculation anomaly you mention.
And if you think aiming racing games at under 21s is wise think again. Just ask the marketing gurus. I have a friend who works for a marketing company and they know the demographics for many products. 21 is not in the ball park lol.
According to that article quoted, 71% of games are adults. ie. 18 or older. So only 29% are kids. WHich sounds about right to me. The vast majority of people I know that game are adults. I know people in their 70’s that game. And most of the people I know in their 40’s and 50’s game too.
Children are not the issue to accuse them solely is unfair, and to be honest your link means nothing and parents buy consoles to share as a family, we have two xbox one’s and my son plays plenty with his friends on there xbox one’s all around 10 years old heck he has more friends with the current generation console than I do.
As far as I can see, you only played FM5 and FH2. Those 2 games are quite bad examples for either argument (ban children or give us custom lobbies) in my opinion.
But I’ll tell you some truth then; the car club I am in is mainly forum-members from another site. We all have a certain “credibility” over there but still our ages range from 14 to 50+. Regardless, we try to race hard and fair when possible. The only way to get rid of constant rammers is to leave them in the dust and report their unsporting conduct to Microsoft. And if we are really annoyed with 1 or more other players, we tend to leave the lobby after the 4th event and find a new online experience.
Will this help? You tell me; the result is often that our skill trumps their ignorance showing the rammers they just suck at racing and thus will have no personal joy of their dumb behavior. Our club members have & will repeatedly start last and finish first regardless of the car-class or amount of players in the lobby. Most of the times the rammers leave before we do.
The only way to stop the “Rammers” is to surely be able to create your own private lobby. Can this be done on Forza Horizons ???
The only other way is to be able to turn collisions off !
I have just picked up Horizons and must admit am a bit appauld at the way the online menu works it’s ridiculous. I’m not the best person at navigating and especially on the xboxone but can you even set up a private lobby and choose class of car what track / region you want to race on ???
All iv;e seen so far is you join a lobby which could be anywhere any track or in most cases infected !! Turn10 what sort of mess is this ???
If anyone can advise me on how to do this please tell me.
When i hit start button on xboxone and it brings up menu the online tab is greyed out or locked ? I’m level 50 what’s that all about ?
