My GTX is also RWD that drifts lol. I won’t drift anything but RWD.
again… check what is really DRIFTING and after you can have your opinion! check the drifting championship all over the world ( D1GP, FormulaD, King of Europe , etc ) and read the rules, plus, check the drift bible by keiichi tsuchiya … and you will never see AWD or FWD in Drifting in real life! that’s is the point of all this!!
Team Orange for example ( check by google if you dont believe ) uses in past Subaru Impreza and Lancer EVOs but they where all made RWD!!!
let’s call things with theyre name!! Drifting is related to RWD cars , all the rest are in Rally, Gymkhana, Exhibition things!!
Knowledge is the thing, ignorance is what it is…
p.s. maybe that’s why the " drift loung " on these forum have lost lots of player … too much snowflakes that want to " drift " wrong…
Hate to break it to you buddy but all of it technically is drifting.
Some of the very early days of competitive drifting had FWD cars along side RWD.
AWD was allowed too, usually made to slide/tandem easier by sending most of the tourqe to the rear…
The reason all comps are RWD only nowadays is strictly because the RWD layout allows for longer higher angle/speed drifts.
That’s it…
Maybe YOU should go back and get some “knowledge” of drftings past before spouting misinformation.
D1’s version of pro2 even allows FWD.
no point in correcting 808, people take everything seriously now.
side note. whats up 808, haven’t seen you in ages
thanks t10 4real.
now custom lobbies ![]()
I am extremely happy they’ve done this… i would also like to add a voice to 4wd option too though.
too many ‘snowflakes’ that want to drift wrong? lol… height of armchair quarterbacking over here
good luck with gimkhana power sliding
No point in arguing over whats right and wrong anymore because there will always be 2 sides to everything. At least now, even tho it looks like a conforming act, the majority will have more common ground on building and tuning strategies. I don’t think its that bad of a thing anymore that its been sliced down to pure private lobbies or one common drifting hopper, in a way it makes any type of user more alike then before and brings back more of a unity type feeling then dividing. You don’t see other multiple single class race types, it was fruity that drifting kind of got the shaft and leaderboards even worse. Hopefully all the salty people out there about AWD or the other types that argue over drag tires / fwd I guess even tho we don’t have fast food plates to stuff under the rear / race tires / RACE CARS ect in hoppers get over their beefs because now you only got 2 options, learn more strategies & control or go play bumper cars in a private lobby, yes i’m aware that curse still lives in a public hopper. I will say it is quite obvious watching people online just bolt off into walls or other random things which is quite amusing because you can pretty much figure out who’s either brand new or way to used to fwd/awd. Any way you look at it, it’s good and bad still, wasn’t around or at least really a thing in the first installment and when 2 and 3 rolled around it became obvious then 4 came around and broke the world with its badass custom open lobby and then drifting really blew up into something worth investing in then slowly started to regress. Be happy with what you have now, most complaints will just be about an rammer in the lobby or fruity traction because of race or drag slicks which people will always argue over but at least they are slowly compacting everyone into that common group even if it wasn’t designed to stay a bit more true to the actual sport which IS RWD. Maybe they actually watched the sport for once? There is no diplomatic way to resolve any of it because they are the ones that some how concluded their version or what they though the definition of “Drifting” was by adding AWD / FWD and getting people confused on what it is and where it started. Rally has been around for how long? Lol, you get all the flavors in that with any drive type so where did they get confused that sliding vs sliding meant the same thing… because context and the research behind it doesn’t exist and we still don’t have rally tracks and plenty of rally cars or celebrities waiting to be picked up in that fkds;ajfkladsfjslkadj ; limo. It will take all new management and a design team non-associated with the previous to really bring it back to a glory type day or just a brand new holy sh*t AAA title, until then its copy and past game after game and the people who have played from the start and was drifting before it was a thing like my self suffer the wrath with the decision to keep buying or finally give up which is what all this bickering is going to boil down to. Monologue aside, I held off until they added the hopper before pulling the trigger due to their misplaced conclusions of what players actually wanted and not their wallets to see the direction they might be going which is still down hill, but… at least they have flat tires slowing them down, for now.

its either to add on or correct. my son is being a pain in messing with me so my thoughts are rambled. but in fm1 there was a huge weekly comp hosted by a friend of mine. all types awd/rwd/and fwd were allowed. fwd fell behind… at one point there was a huge battle between a rwd and an awd… and it ended up being undecided.
fm2 is when people started getting vocal about the whole no awd thing
edit : this brought back memories of a battle I had with I believe was a wikidways ( team started with a W ) member in fm1. we went through 16+ rounds before the judges gave up on us and they shut down the comp. we were that close in mirroring eachother in blue mountains track… ah fond memories. edit 2: we both had rwd.
I have nothing against anyone using AWD. I’m not going to lie, i started off with AWD, until i ran into Nando way back when (this was when he was on InFamous) and he help me with everything RWD. I suck at AWD now, but all in all, it’s just a video game. No point of arguing cause of a game. I remember when arguments were settled through battles. Those were the days.
It’s great that there is a drift rwd but it will not let me use cars that I converted to RWD. I made an amazing juke and it won’t let me use it, why?
Everyone is failing to see the point. You don’t get feedback by just asking anymore, or legitimate at least. FWD, AWD, RWD, it doesn’t matter. Trying to appeal to everyone is not an easy task when trying to creature structure to meet everyone’s demands. Yes in Forza 4 we lost the biggest advantage this series has ever known, in more then one ways. It’s about 4 wheels and the ground and how you choose to use it, there is no right or wrong, this is a video game? Or have people forgotten that. We can try to merge the 2 worlds as close as possible but does it mean its good for business, no. That’s an easy one to figure out, we buy what they build and play on their terms from which the game is programmed. You have to be able to win or lose, take away points what do you get… you’re still drifting, take away the option to disable points in private lobbies you get points during tandem but do they matter in that situation? No. I though it was weird to see 3 lobbies pop up for sure but we also don’t know what they have in plan. They could be seeing the light for all we know, if they cared enough about how seriously some of us take tandem it really wouldn’t take much effort to utilize some systems that are already in the game, you know that little annoying triangle that lets you know someones getting close or is way to close and that distance ahead display? That could easily be reconstructed in a new game mode for speed+angle calculations and apply it in a drift format so you can see proximity but also be judged by the game with the proximity meter for well, proximity then using the points system which looks at angle minus the points. Also making it a new game mode or redundant fallback system for say a narrative prospective so they can say well x person is holding really good angle and proximity being a good tool to use for them to interrupt for others watching on how good that tandem is really going. Let people play the way they want and stop scrutinizing it so hard, some people just don’t like RWD, let them be, its not like they creep into the RWD lobbies with them, they paid just as much as we did for the game. You can take all this kind of babble as a grain of salt but when it comes down to it, without all forms available they’d be losing money, money to help us keep playing RWD by being a small portion but still just as important funding for the game in general. Now if they make a lobby and call it Formula Drift, that is an entirely different story or actually hell, even a game division to select from and add homologation drifting even in a super super basic rudimentary form using said above and just being stock tires up to sport and horsepower limitation. For now we have what we have and just enjoy that it’s there at all and not like pre-3 era where real drifting only happened behind closed doors in private rooms. The only way things really change is by stepping back and taking an intellectual reasoning and deduction moment and try to make sense of what it is and help by giving ideas to what could be, not what they are, because they are the way they are, but all we are showing them is how divided we really are. Try being on their end making sense of how to make everyone happy. They probably had no idea how big it would grow up to be in the game. They do need to really address the troll patrol tho, even if its just ghosting specific cars because they will always be a problem that could be easily mended. The more these fights break out trying to justify one or the other is killing not only drifting in this game but also the drifting community all together by letting your emotions rule your rationalism and inability to hold back such negativity. If you’re one of the people that have now separated yourself into the category or just being pro-drift in general and want it all that looks bad and in my eyes and would discredit and arguments you could create by trying to destroy the game and add elements that are not currently present or properly structured. Personally I think there’s lots of cowards that just want the excuses to hide away from the public hoppers and use anything and everything to try and justify arguments. You’re not helping people that really need it by throwing tunes and build guides at every post because they’re not going to really understand the content unless you show them how it actually works in game by giving them demonstrations, if anything take some time out of private play and just go play with some pubs. I love it all the same, I just love drifting and as long as I have the ability and its not taken away I always will, but come on these arguments need to stop. Encourage people to try RWD and give them some hope don’t make them feel victimized because they can’t do it yet and or just prefer to stick to AWD because that just happens to work for them, so is it technically drifting? Well no. Powersliding at its best, but to the public design they only have to meet the criteria that is designed and programmed to be considered drifting, speed and angle = points and you can do that with any drivetrain configuration, argument over. If that’s what Turn10 considers drifting to this game, that’s what it is, its that simple.
