Files not syncing from FM7

I have a really really irritating issue!

I have a dirty Stratos Stradale livery, which has imported across fine. But there’s no Gr.4 in Horizon 4. The Gr.4 is basically the Stradale with the bodykit in Horizon, including the extra upper surfaces that are causing the issue. So I saved the Gr.4 as layer groups in 7, to import over. They aren’t syncing.

So I then went back into 7 and applied the Gr.4 layers to the stradale and saved the design as a new file, went back into Horizon, the new livery isn’t there to transfer over.

I’ve been at this for over an hour, sometimes running FM7 and Horizon 4 at the same time…which my rig really didn’t like!!

Can I only sync once, and then end up having to to anything new in Horizon?

I wouldn’t have thought so - certainly could always sync with no issue in previous games. Could it be an issue with something within that paint? Try doing something else on FM7 and importing that, to see if you can get that to work. Let me know how you get on - if it doesn’t work, will try something on my XB1X and see if I can re-sync that. Which would either mean it’s a PC only issue or something else?

Had same problem.
Posted in issues and no one has even replied.

I can Sync fine on Xbox, but on PC have no hope with FM7 files (all other past games no issue!!). Just transferred that way for now.
Reinstalled 3 times now to see if fixes but hasnt thus far.

I can see all of my Forza 7 stuff, but just nothing saved there in the past couple of days. I think the cloud has gone mental!

Also, any liveries where you flipped a group on the horizontal or vertical will all be messed up (may only apply to top surfaces, as the sides look ok so far), as Horizon doesn’t have that feature, so it just reverts the groups back to standard. Quite how they’ve managed to make such a balls-up of the livery editor I’ll never know. All they had to do with the code was ctrl-c, ctrl-v!!

For now, I’m on hold…after I tidy up this stratos manually.

Same here, I imported everything successfully, then saved a new livery in Horizon 3, but it doesnt appear anywhere in FH4 and there’s no prompt to re-sync manually

What format are you playing on Rodrows27 - AB mentions being able to successfully import from other titles - just having an issue with re-syncing FM7.

I’m playing on PC. It’s a good PC, it can handle the game at 60fps on Ultra, if that matters.

I only have sync data from FH3, as I have not played any of the Motorsport games or FH2.
Maybe it’s not so much an issue with a specific game but rather with the game with the most recent data?

Same problem here. I synced some FM7 stuff the other day okay. Just now I wanted to sync and import a new FM7 livery I just made and it isn’t showing up. It apparently doesn’t check if there’s anything new and there is no obvious way to force it to look. So is there any solution? I am on PC.

I have found one way on PC, to transfer new designs from FH3 to FH4, created after I started playing FH4:

In the Windows settings, go to “Apps” and find Forza Horizon 4.
Reset the app (It won’t affect saved games because of cloud save)
Open FH4 again and the game will automatically start syncing your saved game.
When you go to the “designs” menu in the game, it should start re-syncing the FH3 designs too.

Then your newest designs should appear.

I just tried this and can confirm it works, just a shame the syncing of both the save and the liveries is sooooo sloooooooooow… it downloads at a snail’s pace (I looked in task manager and my available bandwidth is barely utilised).

At least it’s a workaround and probably the best we’ll get!

Windows settings, go to “Apps” and find Forza Horizon 4.
Reset the app (It won’t affect saved games because of cloud save)

Going to try this since i have been extremely frustrated for a long while !
Will get back if this works, thank you very much

Update: 2018 dec 24

In the Windows settings, go to “Apps” and find Forza Horizon 4.
Reset the app (It won’t affect saved games because of cloud save)
Open FH4 again and the game ------ go to stuff you made in fm7 & it
SHOULD finally appear !

OMG this is what i was looking for like a month but NO 1 in game understands what PC gamer’s go through !

THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH, you have NOOOO idea how much BS this has saved me !!!
100+ points dude !!!

This no longer works, I’ve tried a few times today resetting the FH4 app and also tried manually deleting my save. It does force a re-sync which takes about an hour but the newest FM7 paints and layer groups stubbornly refuse to show up in FH4.

This is very disappointing, I’ve spent some time creating some vinyl groups today in FM7 and I will be pretty pissed if I can’t get them to sync into FH4.

Ok, good news, it does work. I reset FH4 and it did sync. However, it then needed to sync with the FM7 files as well. It took nearly an hour. Apparently this is done with carrier pigeons.

I also had to sync FM7 separately, unfortunately for me it did not sync the latest files. I wonder if the problem could be that FM7 is not saving my changes to the cloud, rather than FH4 being at fault. I t did occur to me before, so I made sure to play the game and win some credits in a race just to make sure (I thought) the game would make a new save to the cloud.

It would be nice if a company the size of Microsoft could sort out their pathetic cloud saving system, it’s been hit and miss for years, as well as slow as molasses.

Hey, I’m having a very similar issue. I have the Xbox One version of the game, and I have already imported 18 designs from Forza Horizon 3 to Forza Horizon 4. I’m trying to import the rest, but when I go to “My Designs”, then go to “Forza Horizon 3”, instead of showing FH3 data, it just shows FH4 designs that were already imported!!! In fact, I have even scrolled to other titles (which I don’t have), and it’s STILL showing my FH4 designs when it shouldn’t show anything at all!! I have some more FH3 designs that I want to import but I can’t due to FH4 not syncing FH3 data properly!!! I now wish I had imported everything from FH3 when this issue wasn’t present!!! I had never anticipated that something like this would happen!! I really hope that Microsoft could look at this issue and fix it!!

this is exactly my problem just with FM7 liveries.

I have a very similar issue with trying to get FH4 to import FH3 designs. I was able to import 18 of my designs, but I have more than 30 designs in FH3, almost all of them being recreations of my Hot Wheels Matchbox etc. (Only a few of them being locked due to using community vinyls). If I knew that something like this would happen, I would’ve imported everything from FH3 in Day 1 of playing when the importing was still syncing properly. I just want to import the rest of my FH3 designs but I can’t now due to a syncing problem with FH4!!

There’s a thread about it here which would suggest the latest update has something to do with the syncing errors as well as issues with the Creative Hub.

It’s listed as a “known issue” but submit a ticket anyway. You’ll probably get the same response as the rest of us but it’s the only avenue available that will bring it to their attention.
