FIA Classing drifting as a actual motorsport. How will Turn 10 go about the drifting side of things?

Since the FIA now classed drifting as a motorsport. How will that work on Forza 7 and other future forza games, Will they’re be more drifting styled stuff coming into the new games that will be coming out in the future?

What is Drifting - YouTube << Youtube video they uploaded

Forza has already acknowledged drifting as a Motorsport but it hasn’t added drifting as an esports event. It would be amazing to see forza add drifting into their series of competitions now. If you’re looking for forza to add drifting into their storyline/career, they haven’t done that yet but I wouldn’t mind seeing this

While the drifting community is huge in Forza, implementing drifting in the career mode would be a bad move. The core game revolves around racing and people who dont drift, wouldnt be happy with having to completely change how they drive a car just to complete the career. This is probably why it has only ever been a multiplayer deal.

It has already been confirmed that drifting will not be a part of the career mode.

What about drifting as a showcase event?

It will be the same, people who don’t drift won’t like to not be able to finish the game.

But a drift mode like in Assetto Corsa or FM3 (if I remember well) would be nice. With a leaderboard to compete with everyone

Drift and drag racing both need more exposure/full fleshing-out in Forza. They definitely need to be fully supported by the physics and modeling, functional. Lights for drag, tunable boost, different tire/rim sizes and compounds front and rear, even rim styles front and rear…

However, as those two disciplines are radically different from other point-to-point and circuit styles, they maybe shouldn’t be part of the career or showcase… Rather, they should shine in the optional side—in multiplayer, free play/single race, etc. $0.02…

That said, if they were to run a whole expansion on it…complete with tutorials, separate showcase and separate career, like Porsche and NASCAR in FM6, but even more in-detail…? Teach you how to drift/drag? That could be very cool. Those who want to learn how to/already know drift and drag could pick it up and do it; those who don’t, wouldn’t have to.

Could be sold as a sort of package deal, maybe? Maybe not for FM7, but next time around… Hypothetical situation; “Here’s FM8! But, wait! Buy now, and get your choice of an expansion; Drag, Drift, or Oval!” So, you buy the game, pick your bonus content depending on whether you prefer NASCAR, NHRA, or D1 GP, and go from there… Each expansion also available as separate DLC, with the same cost and roughly equivalent amount of added value/content, so you could mix/match/collect’em all. Just a thought, not perfect. Could swap Oval for Rally, or who knows what. Core of the game would have to be the same for all, fully support whatever the different modes are bringing to the table. Just you’d get like a car and track pack, plus new career section/showcases, plus tutorials, maybe new NAMES for some AI, but not all new AI, or changed physics, or features/details like happened in FM6…

For now, assume that Drifting will be treated exactly the same as it has been in Forza Motorsport 6.

When Drifting is made a part of the Career Completion I will no longer buy the game. But that is just me.

Be like having the three legged race in the Olympics

+1,the 3 star drift zones in FM3 and being required in some races was enough for me,keep drifting a separate part of career!!

I don’t want drifting to be a part of the main career mode. I wouldn’t mind it being a part of a separate career mode like the Porsche Expansion and the NASCAR expansion. I also don’t think the AI are good enough to be able to drift honestly.

This.

I think the game allow people to drift, thegame only need leaderboards and race lobbies. . We don’t need it in the career mode, simply because most people don’t want to Drag/Drift/Autocross.

They could treat career like Pcars where you can choose the discipline you wish to take part in thereby allowing people to chose a drift career if they so chose or any other motorsport discipline available, but they would require T10 to properly set out the car classes and completely rework career mode.

drifting is as much a motorsport as ballroom dancing is an olympic sport.

I always equated drifting to synchronized swimming, looks cool, doesn’t really accomplish much at the end of the day.

Lol haters. Remember kids, just because you don’t understand something that confuses you, it doesn’t give you the right to belittle it. It just makes you look narrow minded (:

Remember kids, dont belittle people you know nothing about. I never said I didnt understand it. I just dont care for it. Not my cup of tea. Hater.

If you don’t care about it, then why’d you click on the thread? (: If it’s not your “cup of tea” that’s fine. Move on to the next thread. Just don’t compare something that I’m passionate about and try to belittle it. Call me whatever you like, idc, but at least I don’t start to make fun of other people’s interest.

Anyways, back to the topic, I don’t think drifting should be added to the career. To be quite honest, I don’t like the drifting multiplayer experience either but that’s because only a few people know exactly what drifting is about. Its not about how many points you can accumulate at the end of a lap or race. If you really think about it, you’re controlling something that wants to be out of control. Only a few can really master this style of driving. Now for those who are truly passionate about drifting, I can say on their behalf that they just really want more recognition and chances to compete when it comes Esports side of things. They would really love the forza Motorsport series to hold official formula D style competitions. I know there is an official drifting association (ESDA), but it’s been recognized once by the forza Motorsport series. And on top of that, only 3 of the hundreds of skilled drifters who compete every month were recognized.

What kind of silly response is that? Were you not asking for opinions by asking “How will Turn 10 go about the drifting side of things”
