Drift and drag racing both need more exposure/full fleshing-out in Forza. They definitely need to be fully supported by the physics and modeling, functional. Lights for drag, tunable boost, different tire/rim sizes and compounds front and rear, even rim styles front and rear…
However, as those two disciplines are radically different from other point-to-point and circuit styles, they maybe shouldn’t be part of the career or showcase… Rather, they should shine in the optional side—in multiplayer, free play/single race, etc. $0.02…
That said, if they were to run a whole expansion on it…complete with tutorials, separate showcase and separate career, like Porsche and NASCAR in FM6, but even more in-detail…? Teach you how to drift/drag? That could be very cool. Those who want to learn how to/already know drift and drag could pick it up and do it; those who don’t, wouldn’t have to.
Could be sold as a sort of package deal, maybe? Maybe not for FM7, but next time around… Hypothetical situation; “Here’s FM8! But, wait! Buy now, and get your choice of an expansion; Drag, Drift, or Oval!” So, you buy the game, pick your bonus content depending on whether you prefer NASCAR, NHRA, or D1 GP, and go from there… Each expansion also available as separate DLC, with the same cost and roughly equivalent amount of added value/content, so you could mix/match/collect’em all. Just a thought, not perfect. Could swap Oval for Rally, or who knows what. Core of the game would have to be the same for all, fully support whatever the different modes are bringing to the table. Just you’d get like a car and track pack, plus new career section/showcases, plus tutorials, maybe new NAMES for some AI, but not all new AI, or changed physics, or features/details like happened in FM6…
