Love how eager everyone is to play the expansion right now. If it’s anything like past expansions then it only has so many hours of content. No need to rush. Saviour this moment as it will be the last for a long while.
The dates only work in the US. I’m downloading the series 19 update right now even though it’s the 29th, and I won’t see the second expansion till tomorrow.
Did Steam users get the dlc early because it was set to dishing it out on the actual date where they happen to be?
After playing the Rally expansion for 3 hours I closed the game. Unfortunately I can’t play until tomorrow.
It was a nice surprise when I opened the game after the update. In the beginning thought it’s a teaser video, but it went on to actual game play.
This dlc better be good cos this update has already ruined my wheel setup. It’s not just the wheel angle they’ve added, ffb is also greatly altered, in a way i haven’t managed to tame just yet. There is a deadzone for the ffb,but not the steering if that makes sense; the first deg or two of turning has no ffb and feels weird.
AND THEY’VE STILL NOT FIXED THE CLUTCH!
My son uses a steering wheel in free roaming but not for racing due to delay in steering response. He couldn’t correct that with settings.
As someone who codes for a living, I would be mortified and embarrassed if there came a point where some of my users opted to not accept updates from me by default and instead would wait and see if things got too busted before allowing them to proceed.
Fortunately, with my application being a web app, my users don’t have anything to install (so they don’t get a choice). But still… these are the types of things you want to double and triple check before clicking that final update/save/publish button.
I was fortunate and didn’t get the download until after the rollback, so I’m good.
Remember the old days when you installed a game on your hard drive and you could play it without the net (albeit w/o multiplayer functions) and it saved YOUR progress to YOUR disk and you could make backup copies of your saved progress any way you wanted?
And then you downloaded a patch for the game and if you weren’t happy with it, you could revert to the old version and use any of your save games to go back to any point you’d like?
Funny how as soon as you give a game company an inch (cloud storage), they happily take all your little powers away and force you to use the version THEY want you to use and withhold YOUR game progress data any way they’d like.
Releasing early was a smaller issue than not allowing players to use the game for a day.
Instead of rolling back they should’ve let everybody access the expansion early.
I’ve never played a game in recent memory where the first 24 hours of the release goes smoothly. There’s always massive queues, server issues or unexpected bugs that get hotfixed asap. Which is why I’ve learnt to be patient in the first 24 hours…
No company would also randomly decide to release an expansion early. There’s teams organized to handle issues as they pop up, all scheduled around the official release date.
Agreed. Probably a kneejerk hoping to “fix it” without realizing that it could cause a break (or hoping it wouldn’t impact very many).
Though some of it may be how the steam publishing mechanism works. But yeah… I feel like early release is less of an issue than “flat broken for a day”. Just shrug and release early for everyone at that point.
Just ran the game to do today’s daily. “Come and do the Rally Adventure,” said one of the characters because the icon on the map now appeared to be live. That can’t be right, I thought. I was right. I clicked on the install button, and then saw the expansion would be available on the 30th.
Yeah, if you head over there you get a little teaser promo vid thing and a link to the store for the DLC content options
If I didnt know there was a new expansion coming out, i would have sworn that clip was made on the main map.
Not true. It’ll likely be recycled for FH6 expansion, so there’s something to look forward to.
Jokes aside, if the new tracks are good then I can see rival and horizon open dirt/cc players returning to this rally map for months to come. Might be some fun with eventlabs too.
About that. The rollback locked some of us out of the game
Can’t even access offline mode.
Really, fantastic work, devs
10 more hours!
I wish they would change putting the two expansion tabs between campaign and cars on the pause menu, I change my car way more than I’ll ever use the expansion menus and it’s just more clicks.
Initial game release is one thing. Expansions are different. Especially when you’ve had months to iron things out. The worst part about all this is, they ADMITTED that they screwed up, and didn’t even bother to fix it, just said, eh, we’ll make everyone who plays steam wait over 24 hours to even be able to play the game, let alone the expansion.
