FH5 Hot Wheels Expansion Info and Guides

Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels is here! Available to play on Xbox consoles, PC via Windows and Steam, and Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) alongside the Series 10 Update on July 19th, 2022, Forza Horizon 5’s first expansion is full of unmissable new driving experiences. Please see the following information and guides for getting the best experience out of the new content.

Tracks

To compliment the iconic Hot Wheels orange track, we’ve introduced new track types that will shake up and augment your gameplay experience. Maintain control of your car on the slippery and snowy Ice track, watch out for hydroplaning on splash-filled Water Flumes, take care when driving through the rugged bumpiness of Rumble, and defy gravity on the futuristic Magnet tracks, which attach cars to the surface no matter the driving angle! In addition to the instant acceleration push granted by Speed Boosts, the all-new Air Tracks give you consistent speed through time, allowing you to progressively get faster and faster before reaching the highest possible speeds! In total, there’s 212 km – that translates to just over 131 miles – of Hot Wheels tracks for you to race on.

Biomes

Explore the diverse biomes of Hot Wheels Park, where new driving experiences await at every turn. Hear the growl of your engine as it bounces back off intricately detailed rock formations in the rugged Giant’s Canyon; watch as the frozen tundra drips into the glistening molten lava in the Ice Cauldron; and see the tree canopy towering over epic waterfalls in Forest Falls. All of it is brought together under the stunning and exhilarating Horizon Nexus, where the Horizon Festival is suspended among a web of Hot Wheels tracks.

New Game Settings

Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels features our fastest, most extreme, gravity-defying tracks yet. We have enabled accessibility features to make the experience more comfortable, including a roll indicator, the ability to turn motion blur off, field of view sliders, and a stunt steering assist.

With the exception of Motion Blur, which is available to all players whether or not they own the Hot Wheels expansion, these settings can only be interacted with when players are in the Horizon Hot Wheels Park area of the game.

All settings listed here can also be found within the accessibility menu.

Hot Wheels Stunt Steering Assist

  • Available in Settings > Difficulty.
  • When this setting is toggled ON, it will help steer away from the edges of the track when you are driving through steeply tilted or inverted Hot Wheels track pieces.
  • This setting can only be toggled while you are outside of a race event in the Horizon Hot Wheels Park.

Hot Wheels Roll Indicator

  • Available in Settings > HUD and Gameplay.
  • When this setting is toggled ON, a UI reticle will appear in the middle of the screen, which dynamically changes based on the car’s rotation while on Hot Wheels tracks.

Camera FOV adjustments

  • Available in Settings > Video.
  • Your camera settings for Mexico won’t be affected by any changes to your chosen Hot Wheels FOV.
  • For the first time, console players will be able to adjust their FOV. The following camera FOVs can be adjusted on console or PC:
  • Hot Wheels Chase Cam FOV
  • Hot Wheels Far Chase Cam FOV
  • The following camera FOVs can be adjusted on PC only:
  • Hot Wheels Driver Cam FOV
  • Hot Wheels Dashboard Cam FOV
  • Hot Wheels Hood Cam FOV
  • Hot Wheels Bumper Cam FOV

Motion Blur (new for console players, and available to all players whether or not they own the Hot Wheels expansion)

  • Available in Settings > Video.
  • Console players, for the first time, can choose between three options for motion blur: Off, Short, Long.

Hot Wheels Quick Start Guide

Before you travel high in the clouds to Horizon Hot Wheels Park, you’ll need to get acquainted with the Horizon Festival in Mexico by completing what we call the “Initial Experience.”

This consists of the opening 15 minutes or so in the Forza Horizon 5 base game and features the cinematic Initial Drive sequence, the creation of your character, the opportunity to choose your first car, a Showcase event, and the first Horizon Story mission where you’ll get to choose between driving through a dust storm for photography or tracking down a long lost Vocho.

Once you’ve completed your first Horizon Story mission, the Hot Wheels Expedition icon will be added to your map by Mexico’s Gran Caldera (in the north on the Mexico map) assuming you’ve already purchased and downloaded the Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels expansion or acquired it through the Premium Add-Ons Bundle, the Premium Edition or Expansion Pass.

Upon your arrival at the Hot Wheels Park, you’ll have the freedom to travel between it and Mexico through the Pause Menu at any time! Fast Traveling in Hot Wheels Park is free and available immediately.

Quick Start Steps

  1. Complete the drive to the Horizon Festival
  2. Customize your character
  3. Pick your first car from the 3 options
  4. Finish the first Showcase Event
  5. Do a mission in one of the two Horizon Stories
  6. Blast off to the Hot Wheels Park!

Campaign: Hot Wheels Academy

It won’t be easy to become a Hot Wheels Legend. You’ll need to prove that you can master the extreme speeds of Hot Wheels Park before progressing onto faster and faster car classes. The Hot Wheels Academy introduces a new progression system that’s divided into five tiers with rewards, events and Missions associated to each.

Start in the Rookie Rank with B Class cars and complete Missions to earn Hot Wheels Medals and fill the Rank meter. Each Rank features a set of Major and Minor Missions, consisting of races, PR Stunts, and unique challenges that reward Medals, new cars, and valuable rewards such as car horns and cosmetics.

Earn Medals to unlock new Qualifier events and prove your driving ability to progress to the next Hot Wheels Rank in your journey, including Pro (A Class), Expert (S1 Class), Elite (S2 Class) and Legend (X Class). Remember that you won’t be able to use your high PI-rated cars in free roam until you’ve unlocked and beaten the associated Qualifier!

Races in Horizon Hot Wheels Park are divided into Speed and Hazard events. Speed Races are designed around high-speed track racing while Hazard Races utilize each of the biomes to take the action off-road. You’ll be able to set record times on both in Hot Wheels Rivals.

Multiplayer

Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels features numerous options for online play. In a first for the franchise, you can now join friends and play the entire expansion from the very beginning in co-op, including the introductory Hot Wheels Expedition. You can also team up and race Drivatars in Horizon Tour – located in the Forest Falls biome – or compete against the world in Horizon Open with Open Racing, Custom Racing, Leaderboards and Badges.

Due to the more enclosed nature of Hot Wheels tracks, as well as their increased speed and extreme verticality, it became clear to us during the development of Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels that online racing on Hot Wheels Park is more fun and enjoyable when player-to-player collisions are disabled. This setting only applies to Open Racing on Hot Wheels Park and doesn’t impact the base game.

I very much disagree with this, though it is true that this would be a rammer’s paradise if it was enabled.

EventLab: Hot Wheels Creation Kit

You can also create your own Hot Wheels adventure in EventLab. The Hot Wheels Creation Kit features over 80 track and stunt pieces that can be instantly snapped together. Unleash your imagination and bring your most innovative ideas to life anywhere in the world of Hot Wheels Park or Mexico. What’s more, Blueprints created on the base game map that utilize Hot Wheels props can even be played by non-expansion owners!

Having seen the driving earlier I can see how and why they have more fun racing against ghosts, but some of us like to skirt the razors edge haha.

Hot wheels are supposed to crash!! It should be the one place it doesn’t matter as much in my opinion. If you’re gonna ram me, send me spinning into a volcano.:volcano:

Fun expansion. I’m enjoying it.

Leaderboards already populated with bs
Canyon Fire danger sign.
Top 75+ are over 3200’
Top 10 >5600’
Top player 9582.13’. That’s a 2.9km jump.

Yes, should be no excuse from PGG for not banning these players who are obviously cheating. There is no “glitches” or “Blueprint” events that have created these ridiculously outlandish cheat times. 878 klms in the Baja Boneshaker on first qualifying event…give me a break

I can confirm that time is legit. They were driving a gold car.

It seems I was correct about them introducing a new race type in the expansion. Hazard races with those ice and water tracks thrown in the middle of the races. Adds a little excitement and randomness, cant wait to see how other players handle them in HW Open.

I arrived with a car with all its skill tree filled up and when I got Deora II they were already used except for the 1 consumable perk.

I would advise to go do the A qualifier using a car with an empty skill tree if you want the 7,000 exp, wheelspin & super wheelspin.

Also if you are still using B class and not wanting to take your time, the Shelby Daytona gets around very quick.

EDIT: oh yeah! Thanks @DaReoCharmer
