I’m really suprprised when I heard ‘4k 30fps on Series X’. Really, the most powerful console to date can only handle 4k 30fps?
There will be a 4k/60fps mode…but you are going to take some visual hits to achieve it. The normal mode is going to be 4k/30, just like Forza Horizon 4 and 3 on the Xbox One X…why?
Because Visuals Sell Games, not framerates, especially in a game like this. Motorsports and GT Sport are good examples of games you want to play at 60fps+, why? They are more competitive, online leagues, etc, where the visuals matter less than the physics and the ability to let your reaction time and your internet ping time to servers be as closely aligned as possible.
But Horizon isn’t some ultra competitive game that’s going to eSports tournaments…many of us (myself included) would rather have even prettier graphics than having the game look like FH2, but running at 60 or 120hz…for us that’s a step backwards and an unnecessary experience. 4k/30 mode will probably have some form of ray tracing…and maybe once that AMD equal to DLSS kicks in we’ll see the main mode being 4k/60 with all the eye candy on, who knows.
What they are doing is giving us the same choice that PC gamers have…you can opt to push the eye candy and stay at a lower framerate, or you can opt for some visual hits but get that smooth 60+fps experience if you choose (same as using the 1080p/60 mode on the One X).
Either way its a win for gamers, we can choose to go either route.
i have a feeling… technology is catching up… so even if they only do make it 4k 60… i have a good feeling about FH5 im a say that when it comes out its going to loo great… and they will impletment some of the new AI technology to help with the blur when going in excess of 200mph…
can almost guarentee it… also… dude i grabbed one of those HDMI UPSCALERS kuz my buddy has one… and iuno its got like built in AA. n a few other features that really clear up all of my old games… and deff made my pc look better… and also can hit 120fps with only .3 ms latency added to the games lol its wild…
also VR for games like forza i saw on youtube. VORPX?? anyone using this?
Well, ‘we know!’, because they told us that only the Forzavista will have Ray tracing, that’s your garage.
4k30 is a disappointment on Series X. The game looks great, but I’ll play it in whatever performance mode gives 60fps (if there is one). At least its now a gamepass game so I don’t need to buy it.
/continues wait for Forza Motorsport
