Might I make a friendly suggestion and recommend going the route that I have with this game, and not giving a single thought to the meta.
For me the game isn’t about winning, it’s about enjoying the cars. I never build my cars to win, I build them for my personal enjoyment. Because of that, the Countach ended up being a nice surprise for me. Going in, I was very down about the car. After all, it’s effectively an Aventador with a body kit, and I already loved the SVJ, so I couldn’t really see what the Countach brought to the table. But it moves it’s weight around differently, and it’s brighter interior evokes a whole different emotion. It feels less angry and more playful. So, in spite of already having the SVJ on my favourites list, the Countach went there as well.
I’m excited to get hands on with the N vision. It doesn’t need to be meta, it just needs to bring something unique to the table.
Again, this is just a suggestion. I can understand why people want cars that can win. The way I look at it though is that there are plenty of car games where you can chase the meta and compete to your best possible ability, but there are so very precious few where you can truly enjoy the car list in so many ways at your own pace.
I actually thought the Countach handled beautifully for an AWD car that weighs over 2 tons. Very pleasant surprise. Based on the Rivals event with the Hyundai, it was predictably disappointing. Hardly a breathtaking zero to sixty time, heavy as heck, and subpar handling. All flash, no substance, but I didn’t expect anything less. Hope we’ll eventually get some ICE concept cars soon.
Might I make a ‘friendly suggestion’ to you not to be so ignorant and blanket any desire for a car to be decent as wanting to ‘chase the meta’?
You did this in Bravo’s Rivals thread last time and you ended up practically ruining the whole thing with your snobby yet out of touch comments, nobody I know on here chases the meta anymore and very few did even in the beginning when there was some novelty to it.
But let’s be honest you don’t really take any notice of other people on here do you? You never really have, that’s why you said ‘I do have some level of expertise which I am attempting to share.’ to someone who holds a WR in the game who you’ve also known and spoke to on this forum for years at that point, Zip, Rayne, Jezza, Aleriooon etc, current or former forum members who are all genuinely top players who’ve proven both their skill + knowledge unlike you wouldn’t dream of saying such a thing to anyone, ever.
I thought you were alright for a long time but since that with the deadzones I’ve come to realise you’re just incredibly sanctimonious with a massive superiority complex, you’re either unaware that Shadowsbane’s main focuses in the game are the playlist + tuning, which is impossible for any regular who even takes the slightest bit of notice of and cares about what others say + post, or the alternative is you already do know about it and thus why are you saying that to him at all? I’ll tell you why, to use it as a platform to project your way of playing to the forum as superior under the guise of ‘suggestion’, if you know Shadowsbane loves the playlist and tuning you’d know not to bother telling him to stop, both because you’d know he won’t and also because it’s not your place to whatsoever.
Sorry everyone but enough’s enough with this guy, this is the 3rd time now and this stuff wants saying from somebody because I’m not the only one thinking it, you talk on this forum like the rest of us are all complete fools who don’t know jack about the game and you know what?
I actually am a fool for being oblivious to it for so long.
the countach and vision are exactly what I expected. countach is a slightly above average version of every Aventador we already have, and the vision is another unremarkable EV.
not a bad time all things considered. I think the rear springs are a little too tight for cc, even on their bottom settings, and the ride height isn’t tall enough, and it doesn’t have the launch for dirt.
it does have the adjustable 1st/Final transmission though, not sure what the worry was over that…
I can understand how I could come off as sanctimonious and I apologize for that. That was never the intention.
I was hoping to add a new perspective and maybe get people considering the game from new perspectives and with new ideas, but if my ideas are upsetting people this much I’ll stick to discussing less contentious topics.
I care about challenging everything, including my own perspective, but not enough to begin a row over it.
Anyone who visited the preview thread the week we had that GT40 vs P4 SC on the Goliath will know how much time I put into that to end up with the time I did with the P4, the ‘too heavy’ ‘dud’ just did this for me with Bard’s tune before I call it a night.
Okay, Wave is my new favorite radio station. I may leave it on permanently. Such a chill vibe. I love the highway decorations too.
That was a nice snappy playlist; I cleared out the whole main map in one sitting. The Trial was an easy 2-race win, though I was having more trouble than usual keeping up with the AI in the stock Schuppen. The first-place player had a rocket of a tune so I think they were dragging a few of the AI along with them. The EventLab track on the island had some incredible visuals going on, very Blade Runner-esque. I went with the 512 TR for the seasonal championship, and if I hadn’t used it before I should have, because it was a joy to drive. Even stock it has plenty of speed and handles great.
Of all things, the real standout was the Eliminator. On my first attempt I wound up being chased by someone during my initial drive in, and even though I drove right over a decent car drop and mashed Enter the game didn’t register my selection, so I got caught from behind and blown away in the head-to-head well before 30th place. Great. Then I start my second, and there’s a tier 9 Hoonigan Cossie sitting literally right in front of me. Now we’re cooking. I had a few close calls due to my own mistakes, but I won a handful of head-to-heads and reached the final round. I was sitting in 2nd from the start, but the player in front of me either hit something or spun out, because I blew by them and was way ahead of everything else. Somehow I didn’t screw up the rest of the run despite my pulse rate spiking, and I snagged my 5th win! Not too bad for two playlist points.
Not only am I suprised that I actually like the new radio station (I was really hoping for something else), but this update is officially my favorite. This one is ticking all the boxes for me personally. It may be because I’m old. It may be because I’m nostalgic. I don’t know. But the images that are conjured up in my head listening to that radio station are pure 80’s movie music montage scenes. Bravo!
It was at about 5 or 6 in that I started doing the “no car drop” restriction, with the goal of not having that be the last one. I ended up really lucky and snagged a high level one with the vocho… we were in the stadium when the challenge kicked off and the arena was shrinking in a way that kinda made it awkward to exit.
I’m beginning to suspect they really didn’t intend for some of the accolades to be completed, which is why it might not a priority for them to cycle some of those missing evolving world ones back in.
