Ah C Cathedral, the one thing more than anything else I hoped never to see again….

All my own tunes again apart from the obvious one, I stuck with the cars that don’t need to either stay with their native drivetrain (shift penalty + bad stock gearing in auto) or require Drags with AWD to drop to C class….

C Hot Hatch (Cathedral Circuit)

Renault Clio RS 200 EDC – 1:05.516
VW ID.4 (RWD, rallies) – 1:05.649
Vauxhall Corsa – 1:05.916

Honda Civic ’07 – 1:06.033
MG MG3 – 1:06.600
Ford Focus ’03 – 1:06.950

Mini JCW ’09 – 1:07.150
VW ID.4 – 1:07.551

Mini JCW ’09 (Dannis6217, FWD) – 1:08.385

All on stock tires (minus the quicker ID.4 obviously), since they’re all pretty good for C class.

I ran the ID.4 with a RWD build because auto isn’t at any disadvantage with single gear EV’s but mainly because of the vast difference between it and the AWD conversion when I was in the upgrades menu, the RWD one is almost a full 1000lbs lighter and running Rallies vs the AWD’s Stock, apart from slightly more stability there is no upside to having it AWD, even the RWD’s launch + 1st lap were substantially faster.

Word of caution though it’s top speed is awful, barely over 100mph due to the stock transmission, but on Cathedral and Bola it’s perfectly fine, the race transmission bumps my build up to 662PI so that’ll be why the AWD swap is so much slower since it’s included.

So this season’s single brand (ish) for all the main championships and the trial is:

Renault/Alpine/Nissan…

Maybe the R390 for the main game stunts?

Oh…

Thats a good shout. I don’t normally put much thought into the PR stunts but this would make them much more interesting.

Realised laterly that both Nissan and jeep could “count as” renaults for the pickups and 4x4s so did both options based on roughly era appropriate Renault Dakar liveries:

Just got some good tunes for this weeks championships to share
” Feliz Navidad : 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Tune name : B700 Dirt Season

“ New Beginnings “ 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS : Tune name : A800 Seasonal

Well, hard to believe another year has already gone by & it’s Christmas time again. Definitely is a lot quieter around here these days, which is unfortunate, but not surprising I guess given where we are at with the game.

I haven’t been playing as much myself, but still logging in regularly. I was genuinely curious if I missed the reason behind why the FCT continues to push tunes for the weekly reward car from the same player, week after week, so I decided I would check it out a bit further & put some actual data behind it fwiw.

Felt like a comparison test should suffice, so I decided on a course that would allow for a decent range of handling & speed: Línea Costera Sprint, running 2 cold races per tune against unbeatable AI.

I started with what happens to be the top A class Road tune from cezar013 (454 654 183) who is a tuner I’ve used quite a bit over the years with typically excellent results. It is very much what I would expect with an AWD aero build, rally suspension & tires. It performed very nicely & was easy to handle. Here are the results from the best out of 2:

I then tried the recommended tune (below) showing the comparison to cezar013’s. Was a bit surprised this was a no aero build given the car type, as well as some of the other chosen options. While handling & speed were decent, it was definitely a bit more of a challenge to handle. Best of the 2 results below.

Obviously, results will vary, but this at least gave me a comparison based on my own driving & I guess I’m still a bit confused by the continued repetitive recommendations, but maybe I missed something :man_shrugging:t2:

Anyway, hope those of you who are still checking in here are having a safe & happy holiday season. Cheers all!

I just tried it myself, only with my own build vs the recommended one and yep similar results…

And there was never any moment when I thought I could take 1st, that 2nd place of mine was set long before crossing the finish line.

Did the 20pts for a fresh Rebel so I could see the build on the recommended tune, no other way of saying this it’s just terrible, multiple places where PI has been wasted for no/minimal benefit, wrong engine swap with bad power upgrades on top, no gearbox upgrade so long gears for an engine who’s power band is right near the top of it’s revs, race suspension which costs a lot of PI on this car and is pointless if you don’t know what to actually adjust.

And if any more proof is needed the build is 681hp 3115lbs, I found it could get to 3101lbs, or 683hp 3107lbs just with a couple of extra upgrades that were right there available to the creator if they’d just spent 30 seconds checking if there was still room for them, the fact they clearly didn’t is in itself proof that it’s just a lazy tune thrown out there without any care or thought put into it.

We must have all been naughty this year so the FCT decided to try putting some coal in everyone’s virtual Mexican stockings, but jokes aside rubbish like this should not be getting recommended, promoted or pushed on to the entire community, it’s disrespectful to every single player who wants themselves and other people to have a better experience in the game, whether they know about building/tuning a car or not.
