Featured Events - Update 3: Contemporary Tour

Perhaps this is unnecessary but I thought it might be helpful to create a thread for the monthly Featured Events. The events tend to use quite high power cars and can be quite challenging (although of course you don’t have to win them). I thought it might be helpful to have a place for thoughts on best cars and/or suggested tunes to be shared.

This month it’s:

Event 1: “Ingenuity” X class - Automobili Pininfarina, Ferrari SF90 Stradale, Ferrari FXX K Evo, Ferrari FXX K, Ferrari 599XX Evo, Ferrari F50GT, Lambo SCV12, Lambo Veneno or Pagano Huayra BC

Event 2: Hybrid Ferocity: S Class - Acura NSX, Corvette E-Ray or Ferrari 296 GTB

Event 3: Tip of the Spear: R Class - 488 Pista, F8 Tributo, J50, Sian, Centenario, Sabre, 911 GT3, 911 GT2

Event 4: Valkyrie Challenge: X class - AM Valkyrie

On the face of it, events 2, 3 and 4 look like they may be single car events but I don’t think that’s been confirmed yet. If anyone has car lists for them, let me know.

I’ve tried the Ingenuity one twice so far on max difficulty and haven’t managed to win it yet using R900 tuned cars (Huayra BC and FXX K Evo). The AI uses cars well into the 900s and it’s difficult to match their pace.

Had to max out the FXX K for my third attempt to win this. A spin off a kerb at Mugello means it’s very close after 4 races. Car isn’t ideally set up for Le Mans but hopefully I can hold on for the win…

Nope, sadly got held up in some carnage at the start. Emerged in 2nd but 5 seconds behind the leader. Lost time on the straights and then gained time on the technical sections but was still 3.5 seconds behind at the end. Needed it to be 3 laps and I’d have caught up I think.

Will try again at some stage.

Interesting that you can only use three cars for “Hybrid Ferocity”. Will level up the Ferrari to Level 11 for race tyres and try that.

Sadly, the way this game is structured, if you just go to lvl11 for the race tires, there isn’t much else you can add to the build. I’ll be watching to see how this plays out.

Loved the Pagani in the 1st event, so much so that it is now level 50.

Moved onto the second event and trying out the Ferrari 296 GTB. This car’s handling is so awful stock, anyone have any advice on how to tune it? I have so much understeers going on

Yeah, it’s not nice to drive stock. After some levelling up beforehand and a couple of events, I’m at L19 but the following requires L15 and feels ok to drive:

  • Extra Heavy Ballast

  • Race ARBs (front and rear)

  • Tyres 265/355

  • Race compound

  • Sport rear wing

  • Street hood

  • Tyres 31.0/31.5 PSI

  • ARBS 25/40

It’s not going to set any lap records but it’s manageable. There may be better builds but I suspect really an engine swap is needed for any sort of decent S build. I’d expected there to be some race parts as standard but there’s nothing really, so looks like it’s a much better option for R class, at least without an engine swap, when you can unlock more tuning options.

Won the first two races so should win the championship. The Vipers were faster than me on practice pace though.

Does the sport rear wing do anything for handling or is it just eye candy?

Claims to slightly improve Lat Gs but doesn’t allow you to set downforce.

Finished off the Championship. Last three races go up to an R limit but I stuck with my initial S class build. Meant it got a lot harder as there were AI at 820PI but just about managed to finish 1st overall.

Having upgraded the 296 GTB, it seems to be far better in S class with the V10 engine swap. @Beermachine66 has a tune shared which looks like it uses that swap, which I’m sure will be good. Sadly, as it’s engine swapped, I think it requires about Level 40 to unlock.

@Jockelzockt has a couple of R class tunes shared which can be used from Race 3 onwards, if anyone wants to try them. Looks to be L30 needed for his V2 build.

Used the Sabre for the Tip of the Spear event. Had already got it to Level 30 so was fully upgraded to R900 throughout. As the first two events are Grand Oak and Maple, it’s a very easy event as the AI are well off the pace at those two courses. Had two fun races at Homestead and Laguna Seca though.

Didn’t spend too long on a Sabre build but it doesn’t seem likely to be particularly strong in R class. I would try the other eligible cars to compare but I don’t have any inclination to spend hours driving them around aimlessly to level them up, so have turned the game off instead.

I tried to be a bit different and used the Porsche Gt2,ive never been comfortable with Porsche in Forza,or GT7 for that matter, but it will come.
Just a case of me getting used to it,the off throttle oversteer is killing me.lol

The base setup for the Sabre was trash, once I sorted that out and gave it the larger tires, it performed so much better than stock.

I’ve just had a try with this Porsche, levelled up to R900. Fun option - I used the body kit and it felt glued to the track.

Yes, it’s absolutely horrible stock. With race tyres and some re-tuning, it felt ok at S800 but I struggled to retain that feeling when moving it up to R. Suspect I need to play with the suspension settings.

Enjoyed the Valkyrie Challenge. Took me two attempts to win as I got spun off near the start of race 1 on my first attempt and had to pit (finishing 21st). Second attempt was a lot smoother and I won the last three races fairly easily.

I went for a P class build here, which requires Level 17 to have enough points I think:

  • Medium ballast
  • Race tyres (max tire width upgrades)
  • Rims that are -1 on PI (1 weight increase over stock)
  • Race transmission
  • Race differential

Requires careful throttle control but it’s fairly stable from 3rd gear onwards.

Purchased a Valhalla Concept as my reward for winning.
