I have a question: how can a map make its way to the festival playlist? How can i do that? What are the standards?
One can only assume. Although i think i have some idea because about 2 years ago , moderators on reddit had opened up a seprate post where users could submit eventlabs specifically for the festival playlist. I clearly remember one of the mods saying that the ground rules were set by Turn10, which was a response given to me because i commented about their rules being a bit too strict. It seemed to me they were specifically looking out for new ways to find eventlabs for the festival playlist. Now i understand that was long ago and things change but i believe their philosophy has remained more or less the same.
Some of the requirements were that if it’s a race event, it shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes to be completed. Yet i’m sure the past months i’ve played events that take more than 5 minutes, like 6+ minutes. I think this still holds … somewhat. Like if you submit an event, try to aim it , so it doesn’t take too long to complete.
From that post i also got that race events should be generally well built, smooth and clean. Like you don’t want some unanticipated turns that send you into a wall or out of a checkpoint. You want events that are “accessible” so the mass player can complete them.
My own perception from playing eventlabs in the playlist is that , they will not generally feature drift eventlabs. Unless it’s a drift AND a Race suited event.
For example: I’ve been hopping every now and then on this Drift eventlab with quite a lot of roads which also has a tight Togue road , and it’s quite long , and the finish checkpoint is on top of a hill. Now as much as i like that eventlab, i know it wouldn’t make it to the playlist.
Because: 1. It’s too long, 2. A player will want to just complete the event and move on and NOT spend 10 minutes drifting just to get to the finish line, 3. The mass player isn’t skilled at drifting, the mass player doesn’t even want to engage with drifting.
That’s generally what i think they’re looking for. Im especially convinced of it since i suggested an eventlab ( not my own) for their community festival playlist and it actually made it. I remember looking at the event and thinking " This would be perfectly suited for the festival playlist" while also considering these things from their perspective. If you can built sometihng massive like the type of stuff Don Joewon Song does, i’m sure they’ll take notice. But as far as an event that ticks the box, this is what you should be looking for
Hello @Scubadubba6524 .
What ways are there for submitting an eventlab map?
